What a revelation!…read more We had booked a table for a late lunch at 3pm on a Wednesday. From the off this place had class. It has a very apt bistro feel to it. Everything is top quality; from the glassware to the napkins to the toilets - which were incredible - boudoir style, curtain entry, Thomas Crapper pull chain loo, proper towels (!!!), there was even a luxurious corner seat incase you fancied a sit down somewhere else in the room. We ordered the special; rump, chips and a parmesan & black pepper dressed salad. In the short wait we were offered house-baked baguette and butter. The salads arrived - a lovely mix of leaves with generous shavings of parmesan and a creamy peppery dressing. A trough of fries followed (to share between us) and then smoking skillets carrying perfectly cooked steaks. My parents commented on every single brilliant song in the playlist that accompanied our tasty steak meal. Wearing my favourite Fleetwood Mac tshirt, I sat with a mouth full of juicy rump steak and listened to one of my favourite Fleetwood Mac songs. Heaven.

We took a walk through Hoole and decided to go to At The Hollows. We were sat in a table at the front which was nice as it meant we got to people watch whilst catching up. There is a main menu and then a lunch menu, where you choose two dishes plus a drink for £12.50 which is a really good deal. I ordered the patatas bravas and soft shell crab with a glass of red wine. The patatas bravas are average when comparing to what I have had in Spain, they were tasty though, just nothing mind blowing. The batter on the crab was really good and the accompanying guacamole was tasty too. My friend ordered three dishes from the main menu: cheese and onion ravioli type thing, a pancake thing with cabbage, spices and other veg and, the absolute star of the menu, the hangar steak. The steak was served sliced with beans, sweetcorn and a sauce. Judging by the taste, i think it was marinated in balsamic vinegar, which I've never tasted but it must have done something right as the meat was so tasty and so tender. I could have eaten this all day long. I definitely recommend that anyone coming here should try this dish. The red wine was nothing to write home about but pleasant and drinkable all the same. My friend seemed to enjoy here white wine. After a couple of hours, we were moved to the conservatory at the back of the restaurant as someone had booked the table in the window. The conservatory was spacious and perfect for cold, sunny weather. For two large, & two small glasses of each wine and the five dishes, we paid £65. Good value we thought. The service is good, the staff friendly, there's a nice atmosphere and, most importantly, the food is good. Definitely recommend going outside of the city centre in Chester and venturing to Hoole to try this place.

I'm very well used to being disappointed by lack of flavor in "Louisiana" or "American Southern" food outside of the actual American South. My entire family and I were extremely pleasantly surprised at just how good and genuinely authentic this food was. I got the "louisiana hot" chicken burger, which actually was spicy, and well seasoned, and delicious. The regular fried chicken basket was some of the best seasoned chicken my brother has had in a while. Veggie burger, cobb salad, and brisket sandwhich all got positive reviews. The only thing my brother noted is the "georgia sweet tea" is nowhere near as sweet as we make it back home! But that's totally negligible, because the delicious meal and welcoming environment was wonderful. Highly recommend.

We also spotted the numerous Michelin star decals on the door, so we knew this was the spot! We saw they had several lunch specials including 3 sandwiches. I was out with the family and all of them got the Brisket sandwich which came with a small salad, and they all ordered a side of chips as well. They all loved their sandwich which they remarked was crispy. I ordered the celeriac and chestnut soup which featured fresh local produce. It was only a starter, so I expected it to be only a cup of soup, but it was a full bowl that came with a side of freshly made sourdough bread and very nice butter. I also ordered a side of truffle parmesan potatoes which were delicious. I'm a total sucker for anything truffle, so there was no way I wasn't ordering them, but they totally delivered! They were so good! I loved my meal! It was so good! My family enjoyed their meals as well. They also had cafe lattes and hot chocolates, which both looked good to plus they each ordered dessert which they were all into as well. Overall, the 5 of us were made up with our meals. I'd happily eat here again and I highly recommend it! TIP: Go for lunch for the nice lunch specials which are only 5-7 pounds; the main meals are about 15 pounds.

What a lovely restaurant this is. Small but cosy, we were seated on a table for two near the window. Plenty of natural light, fresh flowers on the table and a fantastic atmosphere from the get go, i knew this place was going to be great. After spending some time looking at the Sunday lunch menu, which looked fantastic and would have been amazing i'm sure, I decided to order from the full menu as there were a few dishes that most definitely caught my eye! For my starter I opted for Soup of the Day with sourdough bread. The soup was Aubergine and white onion and was incredibly creamy. Definitely one of the best soups i have had in a restaurant. For my main course I opted for the Cod Cheeks with shrimps, curried cauliflower, spinach and a raisin puree. It was very very nice. The cod cheeks were cooked to perfection and had so much flavour! Not at all overpowered by the curried cauliflower, which was so very tasty too! However, half way through the dish i noticed coriander with the spinach underneath the cod cheeks, and whilst this would be an amazing accompaniment for most people, I really can't eat coriander - although i really really wish i could!! Neil C, after demolishing half of his Pigeon and Hare Bourguignon with parsley mash, very kindly offered to swap. This turned out for the best as he got to try some of my dish, which i'm sure he had been eyeing up from the start! He seemed to enjoy it as much as i was. His bourguignon was great too - the pigeon and hare giving off the most amazing of dark flavours and the mash, although it was green!!. was creamy, fluffy and light. I couldn't pass on the opportunity to try a desert, so i went for the Coconut Rice Pudding with mango and lime. It has been years since I had rice pudding and it was just as amazing as i remembered. Hot, thick, creamy, gloop with a sweet taste of the coconut contrasting with the zingyness of the mango and lime on top. Just incredible. Overall i cannot fault the food, service, place, anything!! - The experience was outstanding from beginning to end! I would go to this restaurant again and again.
