Recently refurbished, the pub has an attractively modern air while still retaining some of its older elements, such as the low ceiling timbers that I smacked my head on repeatedly. Unlike anywhere else I can remember, you feel safe with Chester calling it's taverns 'Ye Olde ____ Inn' since that's how people genuinely used to refer to them.
