Amazing find inside the Citrus Park mall, although a food court is the wrong venue for what they do. My son was at a birthday party at Elev8, and when I realized that a long-bookmarked restaurant was in the same building, I had to go. The Momo Spot is in the food court, a 5 minute walk away from Elev8, and so much of an upgrade from the food I expected to find in the mall. I ordered the pan fried momos, the chicken dum biryani, and a mango lassi. Bebe took my order. He was lovely. The food was ready in 10 minutes, and it was well packaged for me to take home. And it was all delicious! Of course, I had planned on eating in the food court, and, while I certainly was able to open and close the containers to eat, the set up of the Momo Spot as a takeout place in a food court is a bit of a mismatch. Also, the food prices and portions (and lack of available knives amount the plastic cutlery dispensers) are for family dining, not in a food court. So, if you are by yourself and want to try Nepalese/Himalyan food, come here prepared to spill rice on the table. If you plan better (and, conveniently, the food court is right by a mall entrance to the parking lot), order ahead for to go, and return to your comfortable home where you can eat off plates with real cutlery. read more

So. You have to understand something here. I found this place on Yelp and I *HAD* to try I fell in love with Himalayan food when we used to go to Louisville (KY). Never thought I would find it here! I was so excited!! Told Hubster I knew where we were going for dinner! He asked "where?" I said, "the Mall!". He looked at me like I had 2 heads. "Where?" he asked. "The Mall!" I told him. He knows me and malls and I am in them maybe twice a decade if something goes really wrong. "M-A-L-L?" he asked for clarification. "Yes!", I said, "they have Himalayan food! "OK, then", he said, still very bemused. Hubster had the chicken curry and I had the Himalayan combo. The curry definitely has some bite to it!!! But good sauce-to-rice ratio. I've not been to Nepal but we really wanted to try the famous Momos! Believe it or not, they are available in north Tampa, they are freshly made, they are super flavorful and delicious and the shop is found in the Citrus Park Mall food court! I kid you not. What is a Momo? It's a delicate but sturdy skinned, handmade steamed dumpling filled with flavorful vegetarian, chicken or pork! It comes with nice mild or spicy peanut sauce but, these tasty Momos can stand on their own as well! The sauce is an extra bonus! They cost around $1 each so they definitely do not break the bank! I do need to mention that all three styles contain butter and the vegetarian contains paneer in case you happen to be avoiding dairy. The Chai Tea was excellent affording to my wonderful wife but it too contains dairy. Sangam, working the counter, was engaging, helpful, friendly and full of enthusiasm! New restaurant in Citrus Park Mall food court! Authentic Himalayan cuisine looked like an interesting lunch so we gave it a shot! Momos (dumplings), chicken sausage, samosas, and lassi. Never had some of these flavors - so glad we gave them a try! The man behind the counter was excited to help us- offering a sample of the momo. The stall is clean and the backdrop of the Himalayan's is gorgeous! Will be back next time we are here- a nice break from the typical food court fare! read more

They're a small location inside Citrus Park Mall. It's a tough market but I'd much rather support small business than some of the larger locations inside. I've been following along since they started building and today I was debating what I wanted for lunch and found myself heading this way, ready to try dumplings! I've never had Himalayan food before so I can't rate authenticity, but I can definitely review flavor and oh my gosh there's so much flavor! The menu is limited so they can focus on just making really good dumplings. You can choose vegetarian, chicken, or pork and all are filled with a lovely blend of spices that will be familiar to anyone who enjoys southeast Asian cuisine. The sides are either fries or samosas and I'm definitely going to recommend the samosas because the dough is incredible and the filling is full of delicious spice. Its very reminiscent of Indian food. The flavor profile is similar and they offer Chai and lassi. If you like Indian cuisine, you'll enjoy the dumplings at Momo Spot. Absolutely recommend trying them out, I'll be back soon! They're also very friendly and it's reasonably priced for a good sized meal which is genuinely needed these days. read more

Wow! I stumbled across The Momo Spot when I was looking for something other than the same tired old Chicken Teriyaki. I've never had Nepalese food, and I'm so glad I took a chance. While Momo might look like traditional "Chinese Dumplings," they are so not. They're stuffed with meat and a definite "Indian" flavor. I have no idea what seasoning was in them, but they were so well seasoned and flavorful I didn't even want to share them with the group. I also got a samosa. Also fantastic. It was flavorful and the pastry was just the right amount of flaky. I should add that there was a kick of heat to both the Momo and samosa, but not too hot. I did opt out of the spicy sauce that came with them. I like a bit of spice, but nothing that makes me cry. The Momo Spot hit the right note of spice and seasoning. What an incredible find inside a mall. I've had excellent 5-star Nepalese food before in Cincinnati & in New York City. The Momo Spot offers cuisine almost as good. We each ordered a Himalayan Combo. One was with pork momos, the other was vegetable momos. They each came with a samosa. So if you're not familiar with Nepal, it lies between China & India. So their food is a hybrid of both. The momos are like Chinese potstickers filled with Indian flavors. The pork momos were delicious, & the dipping sauce had a nice low level spicy heat to it. The vegetable momos were a nice surprise. They had the consistency of ground beef. I am guessing there were mushrooms in it, all ground up, with Indian spices. This was a winner. The samosa is kind of like a wonky fried empanada. It was filled with Indian flavors including curry. The accompanying green chutney made for a great combination. If you want to elevate your culinary experience at a mall, this is your spot...your momo spot. read more

Walked up and saw this new spot. Momos are dumplings and they were damn good!!!! For the sides I had fried mushrooms and fried chicken sausage. The sauces mixed medium and spicy. Everything was AMAZING!! The flavors were just perfect. Kitu (I hope I remembered that correctly) was super helpful and explained all of the food and options very well. Tried the pork and chicken momos mixed with a samosa, and my girlfriend had the veggie momos with fries. Also got the mango lassi. It was all great and we plan to return! It was cooked well, flavorful, and filling. They said they may have frozen momos for purchase too for home prep, so I may come back to get this.
