Skyview Hotel - King Suite Room with Hot Tub

This property is on Hwy 24, with no other buildings or structures to shelter it from the noise,…read morehowever, with the setback and the construction of the lodging - I didn't hear any freeway noise at all. That was a very pleasant surprise. This place seems newly constructed and was very nicely designed to be spacious feeling in a very simple way. The main building was just a row of rooms, similar to a motel, but the artistry of the rope walls flowing like a canyon, really uplifted the whole feel. In the room the green plants, wall art and simplicity of a clean room, with the space to have comfy seating gave a feeling of ease. The open view to the cliff wall from the sliding door wall was about the prettiest scene you would want out of your bedroom. They offer rooms with and without a hot-tub on the back porch, as well as dome rooms, some with skylights for night time star viewing. However the domes don't open for reservations until sometime in April, the rooms with hot-tubs go very quickly!! I regret to say that we only stayed overnight. I now wish I had given us more time in this delightful hotel.

This may be one of the my most favorite hotels I've ever stayed in, the Skyview is where it's at!…read moreThere's not a lot going on at Torrey so I was happy that this place had some views and also, streaming services already logged into so I could watch all the shows I'm too cheap to pay for on my own! I stayed here three nights and was excited that each day I came back, the complimentary snacks and sodas were restocked along with fresh ground coffee from a local coffee establishment. Also a good sized mini fridge with freezer and microwave. There's art all around you in the room and outside and the bathroom was incredibly clean with fabulous products. If I ever come back to Torrey (which I don't think I will), I would absolutely stay again but otherwise cannot recommend this place enough!

Fortunately we were about a mile west of Bicknell so were doing about 45 and my wife was driving. She drives with both hands on the wheel so never lost control. We found an open garage and they bent materials away from wheel enough to drive the car but left headlight gone so we couldn't drive at night and had to spend the night in Bicknell. We were able to get a room at Sunglow. This is a cute, old style motel with rooms in a row in a courtyard. Our room was sparse and diminutive but very clean and comfy. After the accident and a couple hours with garage and highway patrol, then Thrifty Rental Cars and auto insurance, we were hungry. The restaurant looked very inviting so headed there. First things you notice are the pie display cases and the unusual pies. Pinto Bean? Pickle? Oatmeal? Hmmm. Of course they had plenty of "regular" pies but those were what they were famous for. Looking over the menu, my wife selected the Chicken Cordon Bleu and a salad. Several items appealed to me and I chose my fav - Country Fried Steak and French Onion soup. My French Onion soup came quickly and was some of the best I've ever eaten. My wife's salad also came but seeing my soup, she switched her salad for the same. My wife said her Chicken Cordon Bleu was delicious. Unfortunately for me, my Country Fried Steak was tough and full of gristle. The worst I've ever eaten. Of course my wife had to try a slice of pie. She shied away from the unusual ones and chose Cherry pie with vanilla ice cream. It was really delicious.I

Unfortunately is was a bit short of fine. The room is a little expensive considering you just get a bed, small TV, dining table, mini fridge, shower, and super noisy air unit which is stashed away in the corner. Very dated property and rooms. The bed was decently comfortable but that's basically all you're paying for. They do have a covered pool if that's your jam. Expensive pet fee for one night and they wouldn't waive for a support animal. No breakfast. And the biggest gripe -- wifi did not work at all despite their crappy marquee saying they offer it. The front desk said he tried resetting it but still didn't work. So didn't even get the full value of the overpriced stay. Also for pet owners, be aware it's just a dirt lot with almost no grass area. Keep your eyes peeled for broken glass too. Pass on this one.

Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. We invited two of our cousins--who were not staying at the motel--to join us at the pool for a short visit. Instead of addressing the situation respectfully, a staff member came in and began aggressively yelling--specifically at our grandchildren, who are only five and three years old. We attempted to explain that we were paying guests with only two additional visitors, but she continued to shout and point at signs, completely ignoring any effort to have a reasonable conversation. Our grandchildren were in tears. This was an incredibly unprofessional and upsetting experience. We have stayed at other accommodations in the area and have always been treated with kindness and respect. We will never stay at the Aquarius again, and we strongly advise others to take their business elsewhere. They clearly do not value their guests or know how to treat people decently.
