Cheeseburger Works
Bearain K.

We stopped in here for a burger and shake on the weekend. I got the cheeseburger works with a choc shake. The tomato and mustard were spot on and almost took me back to In-n-out burger in the states.... ahhhh cheeese..... glorious cheese. These people were good, excellent amount of yellow gooey and dripping goodness right there. Beef patty was cooked really well. Flavors in the burger was excellent. I split the twice cooked fries with my hubby and we slam dunked those into tomato sauce. My hubby got the grilled chicken burger and he didn't complain so i have to say it must have been pretty good. I inhaled my shake it was good, it had the right shakeness to it, i had to work to suck it up the straw that is good..... the chocolate was excellent. I like this place, i will be coming back again. On a side note, there is a decent amount of seating. The staff that worked on the weekend were excellent. VERY friendly, cleaned up the table for us so we could eat in, checked in and asked if everything was ok. price for what we had was really good, i definitely thought i was getting value for money.

Burgers, Donuts and Milkshakes. If only I was allowed to live here. I finally made it back to @milkbar_cafeish, where a lot has changed since my visit of their initial opening. The Redfern Cafe changed hands over a year ago and has been baking in house ever since. I would go as far to say they have some of the best buns in the business. I went with all the weekly specials. The Spain Burger, The Magnificent Milkshake and a Snickers Donut. I could not stop eating this quality food! . The Spain Powered with the protein of two angus beef patties, where the cheese melt is captivating. The crispy salami paired with a fresh jalapeno salsa is a winner. All sat between in house baked buns that the owner Chandar knows is a supreme product. Light, fresh and stands up to whatever you throw at, on it, in it...? . The oddity of each golden brown, hand cut chip made each crunch unique. Potato heaven! . The Magnificent I'll be lazy and call it a magnificent chocolate and caramel milkshake topped with cream and a mini Magnum. . To keep the caramel theme, why not a Snickers donut, also made in house. (Did I tell you Chandar was previously a Pastry Chef?) The Donut Gods shun on me this fine day. Even after a full combo it was so easy to get down. I could go on, do yourself a favour, buy them all.

The Barnyard
Acoupleoffoodlovers ..

While we were in Sydney we decided to visit Redfern - so we popped into Milkbar by Café Ish for a couple of burgers. The venue was fairly small, but overall looked retro and fit the burger theme well. They had some really amazing doughnuts on display and lots of people who came in were fans of them. We took a seat and ordered our burgers and shakes. The service was pretty fast, and the staff were friendly. We tried the Bounty and Snickers milkshakes. They were served in big glasses which made the cost of $8 very reasonable. They were both tasty and truly tasted like what they were supposed to, which is always a positive. Soon after our burgers arrived. We both got 'the Barnyard' burger. They were really big, cheesy and saucy. The chicken was lovely as it was crispy and juicy. The burger was pleasant, but the beef patties were slightly too char-grilled for our liking. We have had char-grilled patties before which we have really enjoyed, but we feel as though these ones may have been a little too over-cooked which made them a bit dry. The sauces, bacon and cheese were highlights of the burger. Perhaps the addition of different ingredients may have made the burger a bit less plain. We would love to go back and give them another try, as their venue and customer service was great. We will also try some doughnuts next time!

Baconator, chips and utterly delicious Bananarama milkshake.
David B.

I had a Baconator, chips and a Bananarama milkshake. I love fake banana taste and the milkshake had oodles of it. I never want to have another milkshake. The chips were coated in a light tempura and melted in your mouth - divine. Now the burger - the maple bacon made the burger quite sweet tasting with quite a sweet sauce as well. I was looking for a meaty punch that just wasn't there. Still, it was a good burger and it did what good burgers should do - not fall apart when you bite into it. I would definitely eat there again, but I'm keen to try a different burger next time.

Loving the new wall...

The New menu concentrates on what Josh does best. Burgers and chips. The chips are handcut and twice fried and are absolutely amazing. It's great to be able to get old favourites like onion rings, potato scallops and Mac and cheese as sides too. Of course there's always the selection of amazing house made pastries and donuts. How can you select just one?? the brunch menu is small and changes regularly. This is one of my faves spots for brunch or lunch. Always a winner

The extensive burger menu

I recently met owner/proprietor Josh Nicholls. Love his passion and enthusiasm. He's a real "knockabout bloke" and the day I visited, weekday lunch time, it was very busy. The Milk Bar by Cafe Ish focuses a variety of burgers, fries, doughnuts and shakes. It's on a very busy street. Regent St Redfern right opposite the train station. Great vibe.

Milk Bar Original + extra party (so with it!)

Review Highlights - The Milk Bar by Cafe Ish

Cafe Ish was a damn fine little cafe in Surry Hills, but they closed up shop and have opted to set up a milkbar instead.

I hadn't been to this one before, and I loved it!! I loved the outside area, which really isn't…read moreoutside as it's in like a little shopping centre type place. But the inside as so cute, and more seats than I thought there'd be!! The lady that took our order was so nice too!!! Their chairs aren't that comfy though!! LOL!! But they actually have USB chargers as well, but the lights that are on the end of the bench seating along the wall where the chargers are are weird. It's like being in a library LOL! And it's awkward if you're with someone cause you have the light there between us. We used it as a spot light for the chips we were sharing LOL! But again, I love their burgers, and it didn't disappoint! https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/ShowUserReviews-g255060-d7255842-r646700822-Burger_Project-Sydney_New_South_Wales.html#

Sorry maybe I need to stop comparing, but when you find a good burger and fries stick to it. Too bad no Five Guys in Sydney, they don't know what they missing. I got the Outback Burger which was small and flavorless, my Hubby got the Deluxe Burger it had a big beet on it, I've never seen that before, that was different. He wasn't impressed with his either. We also got Fries(Chips) is what they call them with a Soda. The Burgers are ridiculously overpriced we paid $39 for Burgers that weren't fulfilling. And they surcharge you $1 for using your Credit Card, because they don't accept American Cash, seriously who turns down American Cash?

I waited in line for 90 minutes tonight to get chips and a burger. Not just any kind of burger...a…read morevegetarian burger. I thought to myself, this better be damn good...AND IT WAS!!! I am the furthest from a vegetarian that you could get (I had ribs for lunch today,) so I was pretty skeptical about how a veggie burger would taste...my skepticism was unfounded because I have to admit it was a pretty good burger. I ordered an original Big Burger meal with no mustard and soy bacon. I thought blasphemy, bacon cannot be soy...but I was the blasphemous one for doubting the Lord (of the Fries.) For the fries I had the original fries (chunky + sweet potato available,) ordered Belgian mayo and Vietnamese mayo (spicy chili) on the side. The Belgian mayo was alright, but the Vietnamese mayo was bomb.com. The fries are double cooked and definitely some of the better fries I've had in Sydney...my favourite fries have been from Ogalo's, but Lord of the Fries gives it a run for its money...I will need to do some more taste testing with their other sauces. If you've been to America, I'd say that Lord of the Fries reminds me of a vegetarian Five Guys since the fries are very similar in taste and quality (minus Cajun fries) and they both offer burgers and hot dogs. The nostalgia may have influenced my review a bit...so take that into consideration. If you don't want to wait in a queue for a super long time, go in the arvo or after their official launch on Aug. 29th. Praise the Lord (of the Fries!!!) ***Update: I went again to try their hot dogs and ordered the Chicago dog. If you're a fan of hot dogs and a carnivore I would skip the hot dog and get the burger, it tastes bland and it's a bit "off," most likely missing the meat taste. If you're a vegetarian and really want a hot dog then order to your hearts content.

3 stars until the results come back from the lab identifying the thing I found in my chips…read more(pictured) Why did I ask for Mexican Sauce? I hate sour cream? Just getting started so I'll go again when the place has settled in .....depending on what the lab finds. I really dont need to find a great hot chip place.
