Open a spacious, well-designed bar and offer not only a comprehensive gin selection but freshly made pizza by the slice, and you have a winning business model as far as I'm concerned.
Alas, I couldn't sample any gins on this occasion as I was the designated driver, but I admired them from my table, locked inside their glass cabinet behind the bar. They have over 50.
There are a good few craft beers on tap and in bottles, including local breweries Liverpool Craft Beer Co. and Mad Hatter.
Just next to the entrance is their Nightcrawler Pizza Bar, which serves New York-style pizzas by the slice. Eat before 7pm on any day of the week and every slice is half price. If you did as we did and order a slice-selection to share, be sure to ask the staff to cut the slices for you, as we couldn't source a single knife anywhere!
The rest of the space has an industrial slash Scandi look to it (think bare plaster, plywood and metalwork). We spied a sizeable garden seating area to the rear as well.
In their canteen (Felicity's Kitchen) they're collaborating with north west street food traders, so their menu will change fairly regularly - the first to hold residency are Leeds-based burger aficionados Patty Smith's.
I really liked their concept; how they're bringing different offerings under one roof. Will definitely head back and be sure to leave the car at home next time. read more
