Update : We came, this is a few doors down from the original club. But restored exact as it was before right down to the graffiti, the stage , the bar and the bathroom. At a fiver each entrance , we even heard a good singer playing Beatles in the right , original, way. A pleasure to be with others singing along. As real as it gets!!
I want to hold your hand How long has it been since I danced? I came to town only for the Beatle's experience and this place was a must! Cover charge was 5£. Place was packed!!! They had a great cover band and he played from requests. They had a lot of people from the actual Beatle's era as well as some younger generations whom only learned about the band after the fact. The band mentioned they did the live streaming during a lockdown and he was happy to see so many people are back. They now serve food. Not much of options but vegan burger I had was pretty good. I only intended to stay for one hour but ended up staying longer as this place was filled with so much positive energy. For the Beatle's fans, this place is a must visit!
We're not Beatles fan, but they're world famous. Actually we went to the Club twice, 2 nights in a row. We even visited the 3-stories Beatles Museum. The cover charge was 5 pounds, but what the heck. Went down to the basement where everyone was posing for pictures. In the basement, it was small & crowded, but the crowd was well-behaved. Standing room only, not even elbow-room. The beer is cheap, actually too cheap by our American standards. My wife bought a bunch of souvenir nick-nacks for our friends back in America. But as I said, the music is good, the beer is cheap & the bartenders are efficient, no complaints; that's why we went back the 2nd night. I don't think they serve food, but beer is king. I see some gals go for cocktails. The dude that nite on stage sang Hello Goodbye, even I joined in the chorus. Bravo. We love England & Scotland.

The Beatles first played the Cavern Club in February of 1961 and were then seen for the first time by Brian Epstein in November of that same year here. To get to the Cavern Club, you go down some dark stairs...down, down, down...I could imagine this being a bit dangerous when slightly intoxicated. There is a cover entering..I'm having a hard time remember if it was 5 or 10 pounds but either way it was worth it for me. Apparently there is only a cover when a band is playing and a band was definitely playing the night I went. A Beatles cover band! It was fantastic to have the band playing Beatles songs, get some beer and hang out with people of all ages. Literally there were kids of just 18 all the way up to elderly little old ladies with backpacks. Cavern Club definitely draws the tourists but I wouldn't have missed it for the world. The Beatles played the Cavern Club 292 times, plus a ton of other fabulous artists have played here. Everyone here is in such a LOVE PEACE type of mood, you got to just overlook the overbearing, clueless tourists. Be a good, non-shoving tourist in the Cavern Club. I think this was my favorite spot in all of Liverpool because I could just feel something in the air - just feel something being in the space. Yea, yea I get it's a reincarnation of the original but the feeling I got was something I will never forget.
BEATLEMANIA! ITS A SAUNA! Just Kidding! No its not a sauna...it just feels like one because its so freaking hot and humid inside! For a people whom normally live in chilly cool environment(you British folks), I'm surprised how tolerant everyone is...it was humid and probably 27-30C in there. My wife and I hung out by the entrance where nice cool breezes of oxygen would come in, thank goodness! Luckily pints ran about £3.50-4, which I consider cheap compared to America, and helped keep us cool. The Meyerside Beatles cover band played that night...really good and sounded 99% like the original Beatles! If it wasn't so darn hot and humid, we would've stayed longer and drank more pints. You'll have to get there really early to get a seat table, but then the band doesn't come until around 10:30pm. At least there's solo guitar act to keep you entertained. Free cover until 8pm, £4 afterwards, but we had free passes from the Magical Mystery Tour.
Great venue with cover bands playing Beetles and 80s, and 90s bands like Oasis. My crew and I went there to see the birthplace of the Beetles. The Cavern Club had done an excellent job preserving the atmosphere of when the Beatles played here. It's a must see in Liverpool, but it gets jam-packed because of its history.
The Cavern Club is on Mathew Street in the urban center of Liverpool. Feels kind of like New York City because of the old downtown feel. Of course the Beatles played at the Cavern Club before they became internationally famous. Actually, the current building is not the real site where they played. A very short walk away is a sign that says that this building was where the Cavern Club was. The new Cavern Club is a replica. It's still fun to visit because inside the new Cavern Club are memorabilia and exhibits. There was a singer/musician playing on the stage that day. If you love the Beatles, this is a must-see stop on your tour of Liverpool.
There was a great atmosphere at the cavern club and the live bands and musicians were great and I loved all the memorabilia of all the famous faces that have played there from Chuck Berry to The Who to Adele. There were a few things though, I have respiratory problems and the stairs were a struggle and I'm not sure there was a disabled access, if there was I didn't see it. Also drinks were served in plastic tumblers and staff were seen piling the empties into buckets and dragged along the ground which for me didn't seem very classy but I don't think it's meant to be a classy place just a good place for a few drinks and some live music. read more
Stopped in at The Cavern Club after our Beatles tour while in Liverpool. The vibe was chill, with a musician performing, and you're free to wander around at your own pace. Entry was £5, and I was surprised by how big it was underground, with tunnels leading into different rooms and bars. The memorabilia (though I wish there was more) added to the fun, nostalgic atmosphere. Overall, it's a must for any Beatles fan, and I'm glad to have The Cavern Club under my belt as an important part of Beatles history. Saluti read more

This is a MUST when you go to Liverpool. It oozes history! You might get whiplash from looking at all the nostalgia. Hopefully you get to see this when there is a band. read more

One on. It's the Cavern Club. Live music in the back, nice bar and tap. We didn't eat but we soaked it all in. Five pounds to get into and it is downstairs so keep that in mind. Tourist trap got me! We were charged a cover fee for a 1 man act. Drinks were overpriced, & service was slowish on a slow night. Ambiance, merch & memorabilia were cool to browse. If your a Beatles fan, this is worth the visit. read more

I had the scouse (a traditional beef stew), local to Liverpool. Was a bit scared to try it, but it's delicious!!! The service is fast and friendly. The restaurant is clean and cozy. :) I highly recommend this place even though it's in a very touristy area! read more

Everyone who knows their music history is well aware of how many other artists debuted at the Cavern (apart from the 'Fab Four') on their way to fame and fortune. The Cavern club's history runs as follows It opened on January 16, 1957 at 10 Mathew Street Liverpool L2 6RE. Its attraction to the founder, Alan Sytner, was that it was constructed in a cellar along the same lines as one of his favourites Jazz clubs in Paris called Le Caveau. Part of its history, prior to becoming a club, was that it had been used as an Air Raid shelter during the second World War! In 1959 Sytner sold the Cavern Club to Ray McFall. McFall organised 'Beat nights' and on May 25, 1960 a band called Rory Storm and the Hurricanes made their appearance and included a drummer in their line up called Ringo Starr. On Tuesday February 21, 1961 the Beatles made their debut on their return from Hamburg. They made a total of 292 appearances at the club and were last seen there on Aug. 3, 1963 The Cavern club closed in March 1973, and was filled in during construction work on the Merseyrail underground rail loop. Dutch band Focus were the last to play there.In 1984 it was re-built with many of the same bricks that had been used in the original club and now occupies 75% of the original site. It then, once again, hit hard times and closed in 1989 In 1991, a school teacher, Bill Heckle and a Liverpool cabbie, Dave Jones - reopened the club and are still there today, making them the longest running owners in the Cavern's history. On December 14, 1999, Paul McCartney made a return to play his last gig of the 20th century as part of a promotional tour for Run Devil Run. Currently the Cavern's main role is as a live music venue and they provide debuts for all types of bands who will generally appear in the 'back room'. The club encourages new bands who are providing original material. The Cavern is also used as a tour warm-up venue with semi-secret gigs announced at the last moment. The Arctic Monkeys did this is on October 2005 with Thomas Bohane. I was lucky enough to be around to see Travis and Oasis do tour warm ups at the Cavern. As an homage to The Beatles, the film 'Across the Universe'' shot footage in the Cavern which was used in the opening scenes, though the club's name was never mentioned. How do I know all this? My BIG cousin Terry was a session drummer there for lots of bands and used to sneak me in when i was just a Twiglet. I would stand behind the drum kit. That's why I don't hear so well now. Wot, sorry, wot did you say? I mispent a lot of my youth and later years around Mathew Street in both the Club and Pub of the same name. If you're a Beatle's fan or know one, then the Cavern Club is the place for you my friends. The Beatles played 300 shows at the Cavern Club and this is where they met up with their manager before they became famous. The drinks are cheap and the staff are dressed in their favorite Beatles attire. The night we went, there was a Beatles cover band playing their hits. The place was packed with young and old. They have a gift shop selling Beatles memorabilia as well. The Cavern Club was rockin' well into the night and early hours. Great place to visit for a little piece of Beatles history. read more

Let's cut to the chase: It's impossible to mention the Cavern Club without mentioning The Beatles. They played a staggering 292 gigs between March 1961 and August 1963 and it was at one of these that Brian Epstein decided he wanted to manage them. An atmospheric and unusual venue, the Cavern Club is essentially a basement with a small stage and three tunnels connected by archways. It was used as an air-raid shelter during the war and has a spiral staircase that leads you from the ground to the venue. Shamefully, the original club was closed in 1973 and demolished a few years later to make way for an underground rail loop that never happened. To the delight of music lovers and local historians however, a carefully reconstructed replica of the Cavern Club was built in 1984 utilising a lot of the original bricks. Currently wned and run by locals Bill Heckle and Dave Jones, it's a working music venue again with a great sound system and live bands performing seven nights a week. Admission is cheap (usually £2.50-£10) and although there seems to be a lot of tribute acts, a lot of emerging and established bands also grace the stage. Being in the Cavern Club is pretty surreal. The history overwhelms you. It's also an incredibly fun night if you go to see a band rather than during the day for a tour. Cheap cover charge if you get there early enough. Super cheap drinks too! read more
Briiliant, I had just come from doing the Beatles Story museum and was really in the mood for seeing this place. (make sure you go to the club and not the Cavern Pub across the road). It was saturday afternoon and they had a live band on. They were the Merseryside Beats band, playing songs from the era with a focus on the Fab Four. One pound entrance was great value and the place was very busy. Drinks are slightly more expensive than the norm in Liverpool, but it is worth the visit! read more

I can never get excited about this place in terms of the Beatles because it's just not the same frigging place that they played in. You can harp on about how similar it looks to the original Cavern and I know it's just a few feet down the road from it but in my mind, they are as linked to each other as soil is to the clouds. You may as well visit a cardboard knock-up in a museum. Wow, when it comes to defining the 'exact spot' where something took place, I sure am a fascist. Saying that though, the Cavern Club is a decent place to visit in its own right. The number of bands I've seen here who no doubt plummeted into obscurity but whose tunes will forever be stuck in part of my brain are innumerable. There aren't many varieties of drinks on offer and the prices make you stutter for a second but that's irrelevant. This place is about the music, and that's something it has in great steaming shovelfuls. read more

The Cavern Club is an excellent getaway for all Beatles fans which is hidden away from the midst of the hustle and bustle of the shops. It a little gem of a pub as you spiral down the narrow staircase but be afraid if you suffer from vertigo! As you enter this subterranean pub/club, it is like you are on another planet. The place down there is quite dark to say the least and old fashioned meaning that it still has its heritage. Bands will play there typically on a weekend night and the place fills with euphoria creating that intense atmosphere. So really you are getting two for the price of one as you can enjoy a drink and listen to a band play Beatles soundtracks! It is not a place I would go to as I'm not mad on the Beatles (it wasn't in my era) but somewhere I would recommend tourists. read more

I can't say that I am a fan of this place as many of the acts follow a certain musical style which is governed by the history of the venue and of course its inextricable link to The Beatles. It is very much a part of the city's history - albeit in a default manner as this is a reconstruction of the original venue two doors down once we realised how much potential there was in Beatlemania tourism - and therefore is a key attraction for those wanting to get an idea of the cities musical traditions. However it is not really a venue that reflects a modern or accurate depiction of the city's music scene but can often get a good atmosphere especially during the Matthew Street Festival in August. read more

You do not have to be a Beatles fan to enjoy Liverpool or the Cavern Club, but it sure helps if you are. The Cavern Club is a subterranean venue where the Beatles cut their teeth in obscurity before they went over to Hamburg and went on to fame and fortune. You immediately feel close to the history of the "Merseybeat," scene as you descend the steps into the brick lined music mecca. It is like a little time traveling tunnel to the past. Although Cavern Club and Beatles souvenirs are sold on the premises, this is an active Pub with a stage that plays live music daily starting at noon. I immediately fell in love with the place. If the crunch of tourist becomes too oppressive or you just want a quieter and more contemplative experience, you can just stroll across the street to the Cavern Pub. With the same ownership as the Cavern Club, the Cavern Pub has much more memorabilia on the walls, has more room to spread out and is a more chilled experience. they complement each other very well. So enjoy a pint or two listening to local artist singing Beatles tunes and soak up the atmosphere in this one of a kind place. read more
