BrewDog is fast becoming a regular haunt when we visit Liverpool. It's reliable, providing great beer and good food, and always has a seat available! The latest update is the addition of a very well stocked bottle shop which takes up the space to the left hand side as you enter. This was a very pleasant surprise, especially as we were already discussing just having a few drinks in the flat before dinner, so we didn't have to go far. The staff were really attentive and totally on the ball when it came to recommendations. You can take your purchase away or drink in, so the drinking world is your oyster. We stayed in for a drink before buying anything; the other half is always looking to expand my beer knowledge, so I had a can of Magic Rock High Wire Grapefruit (discovered the evening before) followed by 2/3 of an Elvis Juice. It's of a very similar ilk from BrewDog but with less of a citrus kick. On a rather grazing kick food wise for the day, we also ordered a portion of chilli cheese tots. These were delivered in a plastic basket, as standard in BrewDog, and were absolutely delicious. What could go wrong with meat, cheese and potato? Friendly staff, good food and great beer. As usual.

Large Brewdog with a great selection of beer! Out the front there is a covered smoking area with tables & heaters. Booths with 'press for beer' table service and a large collection of board games. I had a chorizo and cheese burger which was very tasty! The staff were so friendly and happy to give tasters of everything. Dogs are welcome too!

Went in on a slow Monday at 12 and things were just being setup. The service was still excellent and I love their burgers almost as much as their beers. A great visit and I recommend the Brewdog bars where ever you see one...

If you've been to another BrewDog bar before, this will feel instantly familiar and you'll have a huge choice of full-flavoured BrewDog and guest craft beers to choose from. There's a bottle shop in this one with a wide range of brews you can take home or enjoy in the bar. There are also some pinball and arcade game machines at the side of the bar if you're looking for some retro action.

Great brewpub in Liverpool.

I came to Liverpool for no reasons. I just wanted to get out of 2-weeks stay in Oxford last September. I had no idea where to go, but at that time I was always dreaming of nice beer on tap and whenever I dreamed of it, the BGM was always songs by Beatles. That's the reason why I ended up with this place. I don't think I will come to Liverpool so often (especially from Tokyo), but I am pretty sure that I will come and visit again if I have chance to visit UK.

Beer menu with photo bombers.... again:)

Review Highlights - BrewDog Liverpool

Minimalist, large communal tables to encourage chat amongst friends, enormous bar with a board above bragging of their many, many beers.

Is Berry & Rye the coolest drinking establishment in Liverpool? Very possibly…read more With its complete lack of signage, its blacked out windows and front door and the fact that you have to knock on said door to be allowed entry (if the doorman likes the look of you) you already know you're dealing with somewhere fairly high on the 'hipometer'. When you get in (and you could be waiting outside for a while on a Friday or Saturday as it's only small and VERY popular) you are greeted by a decor which is at once understated and incredibly clearly themed. You just feel like you're in Prohibition era in the Deep South. The staff come over with cocktail menus and glasses of water (again, very cool - this is no place for binge drinking) and give you plenty of time to pick your drink which is just as well as there is a LOT to choose from. The cocktails are sorted into spirit based groups which makes things pretty easy if you're a gin person versus a whisky person. Myself, I was immediately drawn to a cocktail called the Corpse Reviver. Not that I particularly needed reviving - it just sounded fun. It was. This is a lovely place to start, end or spend your entire night if you enjoy a relaxed and cool atmosphere and being able to hear yourself and your companions speak. Very classy joint indeed.

Jacaranda is a record store inside a bar, or upstairs from a bar, depending on how you look at it…read more Either way, I always think this is an interesting concept and a fun way to combine experiences. The record store is on the small side - don't expect to find any deep cuts. On the other hand, they had multiple genres represented and the size of the hip hop and indie sections were quite large for the space. I didn't have a need to interact with the staff but appreciated the hands off approach (I don't like to be pestered when I go in a record shop.) So pop in if you're in the area--maybe you'll luck out!

Full of memorabilia and nostalgia, this is a nice chilled pub both day and night. It consists of a basement, ground floor and upstairs, none of which are particularly spacious, but it's one of those places that no one minds rubbing shoulders with the next person. There's not a massive choice of drinks, but enough to cater for everyone. The music ranges from 60s onwards, and there is a jukebox that everyone seems to make use of, as well as some old fashioned sweet and nut machines - 20p for a handful of pistachios and then you can cause murder throwing the shells at people! Not somewhere for a lively night out, but at the same time, not always the best place for a quiet chat, especially as they tend to have the music quite loud. Still, if you want your Beatles fix and you're nowhere near Mathew Street or the docks, this is a good alternative.

Good old Alma, been around for a while and still hasn't gotten any less pretentious. Don't get me…read morewrong, I love the actual place, its just the general clientele on Friday and Saturday nights that puts me off. For example, the last time I was there I was on a cocktail night with a group of girlfriends I hadn't seen for a while, and we were waiting patiently at a crowded bar at around midnight on a Friday. Next thing, this mid-to-late-30s guy cut between me and my friend as if trying to get through the crowd. The people around him attempted to give him some space, at which point he immediately elbowed his way to the front of the bar. He then leaned over the bar and thrust a wrinkled fiver in the hand of the nearest barman and said "I'm being served next". The barman attempted to explain that there were various other groups of people who had been waiting, and continued to serve the group he was with. And then he served this idiot. At this point, everyone around started tutting and I suggested in an undertone that we all tip our multi-coloured cocktails over his pristine white shirt. He is the reason I don't go to Alma on a weekend. Having said that, the decor is amazing, as it is an old church that has retained its altar and structure, but been glammed up with antler chandeliers and candles and dark and glamorous furniture. The cocktails are lovely if not a little pricey (mostly over £5 for the simplest) and the music is eclectic. There is also a restaurant upstairs which serves the standard small-servings-nicely-arranged-on-large-plates type food, and if you get there at the right time there is confetti thrown from the balconies and Cuban dancing girls entertaining everyone. On a weekday it is quieter and nicer and you don't feel so bad for not wearing the latest fashion trends. You can also see the bar from where you are sat. Overall, it's definitely somewhere I would recommend if you have never been, but only if you have the patience of a saint on a weekend!
