We have eaten at the Glas Fryn for years and in general its been pretty good, sometime exceptional. Recently (towards end of 2008) it's really taken a turn for the worst in terms of food. The prices remain the same, but the quality of the finished meals is just not anywhere near what it was. Six of us ate there last night and every one of us said their food was average and not worth the price. We are not foodie snobs by any means, we have enjoyed the pubs previous inventive menu and use of local produce. It's still sounds similar on the menu, but in practice the dishes lack any finesse. Examples Feta and tomato salad (main); the dressing, liberally applied was out of the bottle, 99p sweet chilli sauce. This made the whole salad overly sweet and masked the flavours of the other ingredients, although it had to be said the cheese was sourced very cheaply and lacked flavour. Tomato risotto cakes and salad (main) - well presented, but overall a bland offering with soapy (!) flavour. I got the overall impression that the pub (under new ownership), has reviewed the ingredients bill and chief costs on a spreadsheet, and reduced the cost of both. The food had that 'just out of catering college' style to it, and for £10-£14 a main, I expect to have something on my plate a little better than I would knock up on Tuesday night at home. The pub still has great service, wondeful beers, lovely staff, great atmosphere in a cosy space, but alas, the food is not what it was. read more

Had not been here for a while, not deliberate , just that I'm not local. The food was excellent as was the service, attentive but not intrusive. My only criticism would be the price for some of the soft drinks is a bit on the high side, but the food is fairly priced given its quality. Ambience is pleasant, quite traditional so exactly what you'd expect in this type of venue. We were given an envelope offering an unknown discount for the next meal to use there by mid February, so we'll return before then. Excellent the gentleman behind the bar with glasses always friendly and outstanding service by the lady that looked after us she said she had retired but works part time really lovely nothing too much trouble the only thing is the menu could do with a fresh new look and some special offers something different I had the fish cakes they used to come with chips that be good too have them included for the price and vegetables asparagus etc or any greens when we go out lot places don't add veg it's a good healthy part of your diet and not expensive to add to a meal ? read more

Superb food & service. We loved the Sunday lunch, fresh quality ingredients & very tasty & filling. Excellent menu catering for all tastes. Desserts were way too yummy. All of the team were friendly and the person who took our order was very attentive and looked after our table. The menu is very comprehensive and a good choice of drinks. Our food was delicious and served promptly. Plenty of parking and an outside eating area for sunny days. We recommend that you visit to enjoy for yourself. read more

Excellent from start to finish. Extremely busy yet we never waited long for anything. Service was seamless, food something else, both in quality, amount and taste. Lovely family meal with delicious food, our vegetarian, dairy free coeliac was very well catered for with plenty of safe menu choices. Pleasant friendly staff made for a very enjoyable evening out. read more
