The Meating place has a lot to offer. Not only do they have good sandwiches but they have a solid butcher market. They have about 10 tables for indoor dining a couple outside if it's nice and someone that opened the door for me called me neighbor. Reminded me of my rural hometown in Illinois. Anyway my three things: 1) Counter says their Ruben and Mestball sun are the most popular. We had one of each and they were solid sandwiches $8-9 for the 8" sub. 2) Orders are made with high quality meat and sandwiches were well stuffed. Add some macaroni salad, potato salad or some chips to round things off. 3) Most interested to come back for the butcher offerings: Ahi Tuna, Fresh Salmon, 1" think Ribeye cuts, sausages, etc The shop even has cheese curds in the fridge. It's a crossover. Predominately a Butcher Shop/Deli that now offers great choices of meet but permits you to also construct your own deli Deli Sandwiches from the provisions offered. You have your choice of something like 10 -15 choices of meat, a number of cheeses, numerous choices of bread and a vast array of condiments. Did not go for any of the above, They have a number of stock sandwiches they offer, and I went with one of my favorites, The Rueben. Love a good Rueben and this one met all expectations. Very convenient location just off of Court Square in DT Lincolnton nest to the Tax Office. That was the reason we were there in the first place to pay our annual property taxes. I am not one to give a bad review, the other online photos of their signature Reuben look delicious... but that is not what I got. I was so excited to try this place and so many things about it are great BUT the person that made my Reuben today did not understand the basics of "the stack". IMO Cheese goes next to the bread to keep the bread from getting soggy and the sauerkraut should be drained! I got a hot wet mess of a sandwich that had been flattened in the panini machine until the bread was tortilla thin. so this is why it sucked: the 1000 island dressing on both sides, than sauerkraut then meat with cheese in the middle of the slices of meat. 1) Great people - friendly, helpful, willingly provide fantastic advice. Just ask. 2) Great product - we've tried many items. Their beef, pork, seafood, deli meats/cheeses - all of it is top notch. Don't see what you want, just ask. 3) Great fun - We enjoy going here to grab favorites and catch new offerings. Tip - the Buckeyes are amazing. I probably shouldn't mention that since I'd like there to be some left when I need to restock! :) 4) Great business - yes, they are busy which can translate to slower at times, but isn't that great?! I love when businesses I love are busy. It means they'll still be here in a few months/years. Go when you have time to spare if they're busy and enjoy looking around while your order is being prepared. Or call ahead so it'll be ready when you arrive. Or grab a pint of Tony's ice-cream and a spoon and snack a little while your order's being prepared. We recently got deli trays here - if you haven't tried their deli items, you should. We were at a local grocery last week and bought small quantities of the "same" items (highly recognized name brand) on the spur of the moment (since TMPs were so tasty) to tide us over until we could get back to TMP. Mistake. Not a single one of those items compared favorably to TMP offerings - they smelled old, tasted old, and we threw them out. Ask for Rico. He will hook you up with scrumptious deli items. Best place to buy steaks for the grill. They are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Very helpful. My husband and I haven't tried anything except steak from there, but we will in the future.
