All the old equipment has been replaced with brand-new ones, making workouts much more enjoyable. A wonderful surprise is, I recently discovered the Saturday 9 a.m. workout class with Lulu. She brings incredible energy to every session, and her enthusiasm is contagious. Her routine targets all major muscle groups and keeping the heart rate up throughout. Every class feels thoughtfully structured, with smooth transitions and motivating music that keeps everyone engaged. I truly hope Crunch will have Lulu teach more classes -- she's one of the best!!!

Yet when I went to the Freehold, NJ spot, I was told they're "not really associated with Marlboro Crunch" and that my 24/7 access didn't apply there. I tried to resolve it through Marlboro Crunch directly. Asked for a manager's name. They refused. Asked the representative for her own name. She refused too. Total stonewalling. No accountability. No ownership. Just scripted evasiveness while my issue went nowhere. So let me get this straight. They sell a premium membership, deny the benefits, then hide behind anonymity when you ask who's responsible? That crosses the line from bad service into misleading business practices. I wouldn't recommend this gym chain to anyone. Broken promises, zero transparency, and a complete lack of professionalism. It feels like a scam wrapped in a membership card. Save yourself the headache and go literally anywhere else.

I was a member at the LA Fitness in Cliffwood for about a month after doing a trial workout in…read moreMarch. I originally joined because I was looking to move on from Planet Fitness as my main gym. I wanted access to heavier dumbbells, more traditional strength equipment, and amenities like a sauna, pool, and Jacuzzi. Unfortunately, after using the gym roughly 9-10 times during April, I ended up switching to a different gym entirely. The biggest issue with this location is the condition and maintenance of the strength-training equipment. The equipment is older, which by itself is not necessarily a problem. Older equipment can still be perfectly fine if it is well maintained. The problem here is that a lot of the equipment and attachments feel neglected. Many of the cable attachments were in very poor condition: ripped grips, rust, worn-out handles, frayed ropes, and generally beat-up accessories that looked like they had not been replaced in years. It got to the point where I bought my own rope attachment from Amazon to bring with me because I did not want to use the ones available at the gym. The final straw for me was using one of the lat pulldown machines and noticing that one of the metal guide rails for the weight stack appeared to be broken or not properly attached at the top. At that point, it stopped feeling like a minor inconvenience and started feeling like a maintenance and potential safety issue. I left in the middle of my workout and finished at another gym. That was basically when I knew I was done with this location. There are definitely some positives. The front desk staff were always friendly and welcoming. I had no issues with the staff in my limited interactions. The gym also has a nice overall atmosphere in terms of lighting, temperature, and general layout. It never felt chaotic or unsafe to me. The dumbbell area was probably the strongest part of the gym. They have dumbbells up to 100 pounds, some 2.5-pound increments, and a good number of benches, which is something many gyms do not get right. I also liked that they had two power racks and a prone leg curl machine, which not every gym has. The class spaces, spin room, yoga room, and quieter studio area were also nice, especially for stretching and mobility work. That said, the positives do not outweigh the maintenance and cleanliness issues. The gym has a generally old, grimy feeling. The main walking areas were mostly fine, and the trash cans were maintained, but the equipment itself did not feel clean. The pads, machines, cable areas, and attachments all gave the impression that they were not being deep-cleaned regularly. Wipes were available, but member wipe-downs alone are not enough. A gym still needs proper routine cleaning and equipment upkeep. The locker room and bathroom area were also a major issue for me. Because the bathrooms, showers, sauna, pool/Jacuzzi area, and locker room are all connected in the same general airspace, the humidity is extremely noticeable. The bathroom area felt wet, damp, rusty, and unpleasant. The floor was wet enough that even walking through with sneakers felt gross. I did not use the showers, pool, Jacuzzi, or sauna because the condition of the surrounding area made me hesitant. The pool area did smell like chlorine and people were using it, so maybe the water itself is maintained, but the overall bathroom and locker-room environment was not enjoyable. The gym also has limitations from a strength-training perspective. It is a smaller club, so I understand that space is limited, but the cable setup is very limited. There is only one seated cable row machine, limited adjustable cable options, and the cable attachments are badly worn and poorly organized. The attachments were often stored in plastic milk-crate-style bins, which made the area feel janky and neglected. For someone focused on strength training, cables, dumbbells, and machine work, that becomes frustrating quickly. I ended up switching to Crunch Fitness in Aberdeen, and the difference in equipment quality, layout, cleanliness, and strength-training options was very noticeable. I had originally expected LA Fitness to feel like a step up from Planet Fitness, but this particular location honestly felt like a step down in several important ways. My rating would be 2 out of 5 stars. I do not say that to be harsh or unfair. The staff were pleasant, the atmosphere was comfortable, and there are some good features. But the poor equipment maintenance, worn-out attachments, limited cable setup, and cleanliness issues are too significant to ignore. For a gym, the core offering is the workout floor, and that is where this location needs the most improvement. The first thing management should do is replace the cable attachments, repair or inspect the broken and poorly functioning machines, deep-clean the equipment, and refresh the worn flooring and strength-training areas. This location has potential, but it needs serious attention and upkeep.

I would like to report a very disappointing experience with one of your representatives named Adam…read more He called me yesterday, spoke to me in a very rude and unprofessional manner, and then hung up the phone on me. This behavior is unacceptable, especially from someone representing a company like LA Fitness. As a customer, I expect to be treated with respect and professionalism. It feels like the company is more focused on money than on customer care. If LA Fitness truly values its members and maintains professional standards, no employee should speak to a customer this way. I hope management takes this matter seriously and addresses it properly.
