I have certainly been to other studios that are very exclusive and if you don't go every day, you don't feel "at home". Radiance has a variety of super talented instructors. It was an impulsive decision to sign for a class that would start in 30 minutes and I'm so glad I did. It was a great class. If you're more experienced, I'd think it'd be a more relaxing yoga class, but if you're a beginner, this is a great class that helps kick off your yoga journey. I liked the fact that our Instructor Linda gave multiple options from easier to more way to make the poses and movements challenging. I'm really interested in becoming more flexible and hope to continue. The only challenge is that I'm not always in town. But when I am, I'll definitely attend yoga classes here. I really had no idea what to expect, and it was definitely a unique experience. Pros: *Only $5 if you go to new instructor class times like I did - you can sign up online ahead of time or just register and pay once you get there (arrive early because class was pretty crowded) *Seemed like a wide variety of class times and styles of yoga *You get to use one of their mats for free if it's your first visit (after that I think they charge $2-$3 to rent) *It's definitely an incredible workout, and my entire body was literally drenched with sweat (not exaggerating) after the class was done. *The instructor was understanding and helped me try to modify some poses because I'm so inflexible *Clean studio and changing area *Awesome cold lavender washcloth at end of class - that felt so refreshing - not sure if this is standard at all studios or not Cons: *Being completely new, I felt a little lost without knowing what each pose meant so I had to watch those next to me and try to mimic what they did. A little embarrassing, but I guess you're expected to know these things before coming? *It was incredibly hot - with hot yoga that should be like "no, duh!" but the instructor didn't really pause for any collective water breaks (again, maybe that's frowned upon), but I had to drink my entire jug of water by the time class was over and felt like I was interrupting the flow a bit by doing so. I guess I just wasn't expecting not to be encouraged to hydrate in that kind of environment. *If I were to do it again, for the first time I'd definitely recommend a 30 minute or 15 minute class as an intro, as 1 hour in the heat was quite intense. Not sure if yoga is for me, but it definitely helped release some tension and was a nice change of pace from my normal exercise routine.

The community here is so unbelievably uplifting, that you'll find yourself returning over and over again! I started coming here during Covid, my company was going through a major change, and life was feeling a little overwhelming. I walked in the door, and first, just wanted to be better. The positive encouragement was nice and uplifting, but the more I started coming back, the more the message sunk in and really started to have an effect, not just on my mat, but in my daily life, too. I found my mood improving, no task was impossible, and yes, I can do hard things! I was so inspired that I took the plunge earlier this year, completed teacher training, and have started teaching here because I want to share this message with the world! What an amazing community!

If you've never incorporated regular meditation into your yoga, start now - as it is one of the original 8 limbs. RE: owner Andrea - despite my being from out of town, she was warm, friendly, frank, helpful - and very knowledgeable of yoga, anatomy, health. I felt safe entrusting myself, my body into her sequencing. I'm no expert on Yin Yoga, but what I experienced was true to the style of Sarah Powers. I don't think it's a coincidence. Look carefully at the photos in the back of the studio and you'll find one of Sarah and Andrea (!) My ostensible reason for visiting was her David Williams workshop. The workshop ran for four days at a price I could afford. Although the other participants expressed shock and surprise I traveled so far, truth is - what I did wasn't even half so radical as David traveling to India to learn from Patabhi Jois, lol. I'm impressed and eternally grateful that a urban boutique size studio would host a teacher of this caliber. The gathering was intimate - not like those huge, impersonal yoga fests that go off like a rock music concert. The workshop was reasonably priced, the studio has ample parking and the general vibe is clean, well supplied with props, teas, water and goodies were available just like an olde time 70s yoga get together. I had so much fun at the workshop I decided to stay and take a couple of classes from Andrea herself and I was not disappointed. Here's the thing, in order to totally transform you have to let go. Letting go is scary, so you better trust the person you are dropping down to catch you. you can take that literally or metaphorically, take your pick. Alls I'm saying is, here I felt free to go. :)
