I booked a room for a burger competition and a quick overnighter, so I wasn't expecting anything fancy. But I did expect a clean, safe room and basic courtesy. I arrived 1 hour before check in. The hotel wouldn't let me check in even one hour early without charging a $25 fee, so I declined and came back late that night (after my event). It was dark, and I went straight to bed. The next morning, I discovered puddles of standing water across the floor. There was a musty smell when I entered the room, which I initially assumed was just the hotel, but the amount of water on the floor was shocking. When I checked out, I tried to let the front desk know what I'd found. The employee responded rudely, saying she wasn't housekeeping and telling me not to bother her. She said the manager would be there at 3 p.m. and I could come back then. I was already leaving for my next destination, and I shouldn't have to return hours later just to report a serious problem with my room. Being charged over $100 for a room with standing water was bad enough. Being yelled at when I tried to report it made the experience even worse. I'm concerned about the condition of the room and plan to contact the appropriate health department. I would not stay here again, and I can't recommend it.

Perfectly grilled, with well seasoned veggies and tiny, butterflied sautéed shrimp in a lemon herb sauce. Being from Louisiana, we were surprised that they got the spice right. I would eat this again and again. The Lunch portion was adequate and we did eat it again when we got home. (Actually my daughter stole it and gave me a few bites!) There were many food options including a fantastic buffet. There is even a non-smoking portion of the casino. Island View is connected by an indoor pedestrian bridge to nonsmoking Beach View Casino which is on the beach. It is all one big resort. Island View is convenient to other Gulf Coast attractions. I love walking out to the beach and taking my daily walk for exercise from the resort. The rooms are nice. We did not win this trip, nor did we lose much. Better luck next time! We love traveling from San Diego to the Mississippi Gulf Coast at least once a year. Give it a try. You will love it!
