We were driving south on I-5 from Salem towards Eugene and needed a quick and convenient stop. This…read morerest area was relatively close to where we were and much easier than exiting the freeway to search for gas stations or other options. We've stopped here many times over the years, and while it's familiar, it wouldn't rank among our favorite rest areas. We've visited quite a few across the country that offer more modern facilities or a better overall experience. That said, this location does have a fairly nice shaded picnic area, which would likely be a pleasant spot during warmer and drier months, even though we typically don't take advantage of those features. On this particular visit, the rest area served its purpose well. The restrooms were accessible, the stop felt straightforward and efficient, and we were able to get in and out without much delay. It was adequate for what we needed at the time, allowing us to get back on the road quickly and continue our drive south.

This rest area is along I-5 north of Eugene, Oregon (so please don't move it, Yelp!). A great spot…read morefor a stretch and it's got quite a bit of greenery around. Completely overcast (when is it not?) so I wasn't concerned about shade as I took a quick nap in the Sprinter van. Restrooms in good condition with picnic tables under the trees, vending machines and a display of travel brochures, what more do you need? My only complaint is that the entrance doesn't have any sort of turn to slow people down as they enter from the highway. [Review 20935 overall - 23 in Oregon - 1919 of 2023.]

This rest stop is has a little pavilion filled with travel magazines and pamphlets about points of interest. Each little nook was full and looking at the dates of the magazines, pretty updated. There are vending machines, trash cans, and bathrooms in the main building. Lots of parking for both cars and semi-trailer trucks, and everything in between! Overall, great place to stretch your legs due to the huge trees surrounding the area. It helps break the road fatigue and road hypnosis that some may feel while driving for long stretches.

Tall trees surrounding the French Prairie Rest Stop help give the area a forest vibe. Parking is abundant and the spaces are clearly marked if reserved for a particular usage. An informational pavilion provides travel information for exploring and sightseeing in Oregon and a number of the posted informational placards provide background about the history of Oregon. The restrooms have been cleanly and water fountains have worked, providing clean water without a funky taste. The exit from the interstate is clearly marked as is where to park depending on vehicle type.
