Just randomly stopped here on the way home from something because I was starving. I've heard good things from a few friends, but I was super disappointed. First of all, a Ranger game was on so you'd think you'd hear the game through the speakers being that this is a sports bar, but instead they were playing some weird music. Anyway, we ordered the fried pickle special and the pulled pork sliders. I was soooo hungry and so looking forward to some good bar food...HUGE letdown. My pulled pork was a strange color..like a pink brown. Right away that turned me off, but I thought maybe it would taste good. Wrong again. Nasty. If I wasn't starving I wouldn't have eaten any of it. The meat was dry and tasted like leftovers that were heated up in the microwave. The buns even tasted a little stale. My boyfriends fried pickles were mediocre at best and served on a bed of some stale tasting corn chips ??? His beer was really good but that was about it. Waste of money and calories. read more

'The Main Event' is the latest of a number of names/ownerships that this place has gone under throughout the years and has, in my view, gone downhill since the days of Eli's Steakhouse. The environment is pretty decent; lots of flat screens to view games and all properly situated so that everyone gets a view. The service is just... okay, and on a busy night, it can be a bit frustrating. The worst part of eating here is unfortunately the sub-par food. It is over-priced and mediocre. They fail to get right even the most basic things like burgers and nachos. I would say, come in for a beer and maybe some finger food to watch a game with your buddies, but if you're looking for something truly satisfying and have money to spend on dinner, don't waste it here! read more

I had a disappointing experience at Hurricane's and my wife asked, "Why do you keep going back? The Main Event is so much better" Happy Wife, Happy Life. Listen to wife, happy husband. I ordered a pick up from Main Event once for wings on Super Bowl Sunday. The kitchen had the wings coming out like clockwork and they were great. When I do dine at Main Event, I like the ribs or I will get a chicken breast when I want to watch what I am eating. The food is consistent and the atmosphere screams fun sports bar. I would love to go with a bunch of guys and watch a UFC fight there. The staff is always warm and inviting. I have not been to the new location on route 110, but if the Old Country Road original is copied, I am sure it will be fine too read more

Love stopping here after work on a Friday with my coworkers. Great selection of food and alcohol. Bartenders are very friendly and the service is more then acceptable. Beers are as cold as you could possibly get before turning to ice, seriously. I haven't had a colder beer in any bar across the world. The bar has huge TVs to watch any sporting event on at the time. Have nothing bad to say. It's just the perfect stop after a long day of work. read more

Extremely overpriced. I live local and went with my boyfriend to have a drink at the bar. I was the only female at the bar. Ok I'm ok with that. The game was on. The menu completely overpriced. The reason they're still in business is they have literally a 10 page menu. Everything's there. But I say quality over quantity. As for the bartenders. They are young girls probably in early 20s. Seemed to be very pleasant to the older male regular crowd but as for an female not at all. I'm 30 and yea I do look younger so she decided to ID me while with my BF and his friend who in their 49s ok it's her job I understand. But she held my ID and went over every single line and kept staring at me. It's not an old photo. I just had it updated. Even so this isn't a club. She made me so uncomfortable I would never go back. I think my boyfriend agrees with me. Point is if your looking for burgers fries wings etc go somewhere else. Overpriced. Food is all frozen never fresh. And always overlooked. More men then women there. And just a neighborhood regular kind of spot. I would have given more stars if the bartender wasn't so insulting and unfriendly. Always a good time here. The staff is excellent and they have great beers on tap. Try the grilled chicken wings they are excellent. The appetizers are very tasty and the dinners that I have had have been unique and delicious. I have also been here for parties in the side room by the bar. I've been to this place many times for lunch and dinner. I even go to their place in farmingdale. I always order some sort of fish dish because I know the owners own a fish restaurant. So I ordered their seafood francese. It had scallops, shrimps, and filet of sole. I believe it was $23 or more. The meal came with a salad and a sweet potato. When I started to eat the meal, I started with the scallop and it didn't taste right. I then had a shrimp and that wasn't good either. Then I had some filet and still not good. I said something to my friend and he thought it smelled fishy. I went back for another scallop and this one was really bad. I put the plate to the side. The waitress came over and asked me if everything was ok and I told her that something was off with the fish. She said ok and asked me if she could get me something else. I asked for a grilled chicken cutlet with cheese. Then the owner came over. Said he would take the fish off the bill but said that he tasted the fish and there was nothing wrong with it. He blamed it on the sauce and said it was too salty but the fish was ok. I didn't bother disagreeing with him. Then I get the bill and they charged me $16 for the chicken. I asked the waitress if that was a mistake and she said no because I ate the potato and the chicken. Then the other owner comes over and says he made a mistake and took my 2 sodas off for a grand total of $4. Laughable. When I told him that he was charging me $12 for the one piece of grilled chicken, he said that he charged me that because I had the potato and salad. He also repeated that he tasted it and nothing was wrong. For a place that has been in business for a long time, they are either arrogant or never knew how to run a business. If they would have charged me $5 for the chicken, I probably wouldn't be writing this. The right thing to do was to comp the dish and apologize. Don't tell me that the fish was ok. I know what fish is supposed to taste like. For $12, they lost a customer and I will tell all my coworkers, family and friends not to go there. By the way, the original bill was $60, we left $70 and even after he tried to give the $4 back for the sodas, we left the $70. So the young waitress got her 20% tip. It is the last dollar you will ever see from me. Poor decision. read more

I don't usually write reviews. Saying this, as I was reading a review on here it struck a nerve with me. I also frequented here a few times a month until one night a few months ago when I left with a bad taste in my mouth. I had ordered a fish entree. When I tasted it, it just didn't taste right. I told our waitress and she took it away. I didn't want a replacement meal because our party had ordered Appetizers and was ok. A few minutes later the owner came over and explained that he tried my dish and there was nothing wrong with it. I disagreed with him. He stayed at my table for about 5 minutes trying to convince me that I didn't know how it should taste ( I have been eating fish for about 40 years ). My tables bill was pretty high and as I checked it, I noticed that my fish dish was still on the bill but was prorated for the side dish and salad that I ate. They only took off the actual fish. I didn't have the energy to go another round with the manager/owner about it. I left thinking about how this place lost a long time customer because of a piece of fish. read more

A solid 3 star-er. A friday night seemed right to try out this expanding Long Island Sports pub franchise. Although full we were able to get seated immediately. Much like other sports pubs they have televisions on virtually every wall. The menu is DINER LIKE - shockingly large. Does a pub need such an expansive menu.. not including the specials menu. It took a whole 30 minutes to read. They seem to have an endless variety of Apps, Salads, Entrees, Sammies, Wraps and more. We saw tons of Beers, Buffalo Wings and Warm Brownies w/ ice cream walk by but that didn't affect us. We ordered Broiled Filet of Sole w/ Veggie Medley & Baby Back Ribs w/ Sweet Potato. The fish was a big surprise. Cooked perfectly, seasoned well and the veggies were fresh. The Baby Backs however were overcooked and tough, chewy. Not fall off the bone. Also they were not really very saucy. Our waitress did her job, but with no personality. We were not offered drink refills, nor were we asked "hows everything?" or "how did it come out?" ... nothing. She took the order.... brought the drinks..... Brought the check. Runners and bus boys did the rest. I would have spoke to the manager making the rounds but he was distracted by other customers. read more

I will start off to say that the service in this restaurant is exceptional the atmosphere here is what I look for in a place but I can not say the same about the food. I decided to order the chicken wings they came out and right away you can tell they are par cooked not only that but uncooked. I wish I could end there but for a 5.50 cent onion soup which was mediocre, but it did not end there the tailgate burger must have been one of the worse burgers I have had it was in seasoned and just shit. which is why I am going to have to give this place one star to the owners of the company you have created a great place for people to eat and the tv are excellent I enjoy watching all of the games but fire your chef before he poisons somebody. Not sure why there are so many bad reviews for this place. Some people say it's too empty and then others say it's too crowded, can't please anyone I guess. In my experiences with this place I'd say it's usually pretty crowded but never impossible to get a table. I'd say this is a higher quality and older crowd version if millers. The menu is a bit large and maybe could be cut back a bit, but overall I have liked everything I've tried here and the staff is great. If your looking for a more mature sports bar with better than average bar food then this is a good place. read more

If you are looking for a great place to hang with your buddies and watch some sports while eating food, this is the place. Overall the food is okay and a little pricey. They have a great beer selection with some seasonal choices that are very good like Sam Adams winter lager. Two appetizers that I highly recommend are the wings and loaded nachos. I find their chicken in several dishes to be overcooked and too dry. Some of their entrees with fish are good choice. Burgers are very yummy. When there is a big sports game on TV they broadcast the sound. They offer very spacious seating and have a nice long bar to sit at. We have been going to this Resturante for years, it's our go to place. The atmosphere is great for a sports bar Resturante , good for the whole family or just a date night. The menu has a great variety and I have never been disappointed. The owners and the staff are always personable and welcoming . My favorites the New Yorker and lobster bisque soup ( exceptional flavor) , my husbands favorite meal is stuffed seafood combo or stuffed shrimp. The steaks, seafood , chicken and salads are delicious. There are times we go and just grab a high top Table have a beer and munchies, . Our home base is the Plainview location but have been at the farming dale location and wasn't disappointed, Plainview is just more to our liking. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

I would like to know if there is a better place on long Island to watch a game. Their TV's are all over the place in the right spots everywhere as many TV's as PC Richards LOL. Years ago the Main Event was the spot to hang...everyone from my job flocked this spot. The food was better then. Still like the many flat screen television and atmosphere. Sucks! Overpriced! terrible food! lousy drinks! and the staff has 0 personality!!! Stopped by with a friend to have a drink and an appetizer. we ordered the cajun shrimp (Yuck), which was so salty you couldn't really eat it. But the worst part, was the fried calamari (which they charge like $16 for). They brought out a small oval dish with about 8 pieces of dried out calamari (the frozen kind you get at restaurant depot) and this is the killer part...they put the 8 pieces of calamari on a huge bed of those fried chinese noodles to make the plate look like it was full...btw they will claim its to keep the calamari from getting soggy. We jokingly asked the waitress for some duck sauce to go with the chinese noodles but She didn't really have any personality. The cocktails also were terrible. For 2 drinks and the small disgusting apps. the bill came out to $60!!! Talk about a waste of money!!! Yuck Yuck Yuck. save your time and money, go Anywhere else read more
