This is a hidden restaurant but the food has never failed! Work is nearby so we've ordered for lunch or meetings and everything I've tried is delicious. We've had the egg rolls, fried tofu, tom kha soup (best I've had), larb gai, yellow curry, pad kee mow noodles, pad Thai, and the spicy basil eggplant with tofu. What a great little hidden gem in Ventura! I love Yelp so much for telling me where to eat. This place was great and I'll definitely be coming here again. PRO TIP: It's a tad hard to find, but don't worry you'll be good. My guest got lost and couldn't find it at first. Don't let the industrial area fool you! Walked in around 11:30. There was one other party there already. The nice hostess told me I could sit anywhere I chose. I noticed more groups arriving as it got closer to noon. This place must get really busy! I could see it... My guest ordered the veggie sandwich and a Thai Iced Tea. She loved them both. The sandwich was huge. I ordered the wonton appetizer and it was delicious. My only "problem" - which it really wasn't - was that the dipping sauce for the wontons was really bland. No flavor at all. It was weird. My friend introduced me to this spot for lunch. The Lunch Box is such a gem. Tucked away in the more commercial work area off the main drag it would be easy to miss this place. Everything about the Lunch Box is so cute! The restaurant side is small and intimate, leaning more towards Thai decor? Plenty of booths and tables. To the left of the restaurant is a very fun divey looking bar. This place is one of a kind. The menu here is huge! They have a huge American menu, listed were burgers, sandwiches, fish n chips, and everything in between. The real fun though is their "lunch specials" menu. Everything on this menu is Thai meets Chinese favorites? It seems to change daily. While the American menu is impressive everyone here seems to rant and rave about the Thai dishes. And since everyone around us was eating Thai that's what we ordered too. Food: solid 4 stars. My panang curry with chicken and white rice was delicious! Great flavor, and since I asked for it mild it paired perfectly with my Thai iced tea, very refreshing. The presentation was also cute as they served the curry in a little hot pot type ceramic bowl. Everything tasted delicious. They also gave me a HUGE side salad to start my meal, such a deal to get all of this for under $15 including the drink. Service: Very friendly all around. You feel at home and the pace is just that. Everyone is relaxed and moves at that pace. I didn't mind though. It goes with the vibes of the whole place. Hands down the best Thai food I've had in the Ventura County! Also a big thank you to Lek for the amazing service! As the cravings for Thai food became stronger, my wife and I decided to check yelp and stumbled upon this hidden gem. Inside is half dive bar and the other half has traditional Thai decor. When we entered we were a bit puzzled but the puzzle pieces came together as soon as we tasted the food. Thai food is known for their spicy dishes and this place had the flavor, spice and everything nice. We ordered Chicken Tom Yum soup, Pad See Yew and Red Curry with Duck. Ask for the thresher shark green curry. I didn't see it on the menu today but I had it from a specials menu years ago. Normally for the soup portion I would order some type of tom yum (usually seafood or gai) but today we ordered tofu and cabbage with ground pork. It was amazing. It was so flavorful but delicate at the same time. Some many people try to do too much of a good thing. This balance is impressive. I hadn't been here in a while, but I'll be back next week. It's so affordable. And the are gracious hosts. The chef will recommend different dishes, hence the shark curry. By the way, thresher sharks aren't endangered. I'm not sure what's going on with Yelp app? I'm nothing if I am not persistent. Yelp has been a great tool but this is my fourth attempt to make a review and the screen keeps clearing out. I know what I'm doing, it wasn't me. So here are the main points of our experience here Sadly half of our party had to return to their food because of the dark brown color of our eggrolls and tempura vegetables. They must be using old cooking oil, it literally gets stuck in the throat. The pad Thai was flavorless and had no cilantro, no green onions or bean sprouts to garnish the dish. It was as bland looking as it was bland tasting. Maybe the chef is new? Once you've had really good authentic, flavorful pad Thai nothing can keep you from drawing a comparison. This little place doesn't even come close to knowing what they are doing in the kitchen. The flavor? What happened to the complex flavor? Half of our party didn't eat and refused to pay. We didn't eat either but we did pay. We will not be back. We like the complex pad Thai at Charn in Camarillo, now they know what they are doing! I've gotten a chance to glance at their dinner menu, and surprisingly, the majority of their offering switches to Thai dishes! For this visit, however, I stopped by on my lunch break. If you enjoy Thai food, l suggest you skip the menu all together, and take a look at their specials board when you walk in. The specials change daily, but remain the same on any given day. For example, if you're craving cashew chicken, stop by on Thursdays! They usually have about 4 or 5 Thai specials to choose from. So...the FOOD. Delicious!! I had the ground pork with bell peppers over steamed rice. I asked for it mild, then seasoned to my comfort level with the chili sauce provided. It's a large portion that didn't disappoint! Specials end at 1:30pm, so make sure to stop by before then! The SERVICE was...okay. I've only ever seen one person there waiting tables. She literally runs around as quickly as she can, but due to this, sometimes it's a wait just to get an order in, or your check dropped. This is why I deducted a star. This place is a little gem. Thee best Thai food. Everything is delicious. The service is amazing.

First off, YES this IS a Thai restaurant, BUT, only AFTER 130pm on weekdays. Second, as you're driving there, its location among commercial/industrial buildings might be a cause for concern, making you think, "WHERE THE HECK AM I?" Yet there it resides, with no hints of Asianness from the exterior view, nor from the name. It's in Ventura, a little ways behind The Barber Volkswagen Dealership on Main St. The easiest way to get there would be to drive on Main St. and turn onto Callens Rd., right on Market St., left on Morse Ave. Its basically American fare for lunch, as that's what the kitchen is prepared to cook... burgers, soups, salads, sandwiches, fish n' chips and such. There's even oysters n' chips! Also, some daily lunch specials that may have a hint of Asian cuisine. This is what you'd expect if you make assumptions from their chosen business title. Then POOF! Just when you thought you knew, the witching hour comes and things switch to the Thai cuisine around 1:30pm if it's slow, for sure by 2pm. After hearing about this spot for months from my buddy John L. (Shout Out!), we were fortunate enough to hit it one weekday evening. There is a good sized dining area, clean with a light Asian touch. The other 3rd of the building is a sports bar. We sat promptly and Nit took care of us for the evening. We sampled a few things from the menu... *SATAY ($8.50): Ordered 2 of the 3 options, Beef and chicken. Comes with 5 pieces on skewers. Meat was average in size with good flavor. Beef was a lil on the chewy side. Chicken arrived somewhat overcooked, just a bit on the dry side. Mild creamy peanut sauce helps counteract the dryness. The cucumber salad was probably the spiciest part of the dish, but still very mild. *SHRIMP FRIED RICE ($10): Pretty good fried white rice that has green onions, carrots, peas, and eggs mixed in. Not too greasy and not spicy at all. My little man couldn't get enough of this! *PAD SEE YEW ($10): Beef version with flat noodles topped with broccoli and eggs. Everyone enjoyed this. Beef was tender, tasty and dish was not spicy at all. Noodles were prepared just right. *PAD THAI ($8.50): Classic Thai dish with chicken plus eggs, green onions, bean sprouts and ground peanuts mixed in. Sauce was soupy which made this dish bland in taste. *YELLOW CURRY ($9): We chose the pork version. This had a nice flavor to it and the pork was tender. Asked for medium spiciness and it came very timid. *SPICY BASIL TOFU WITH VEGGIES ($9): Asked for spicy and received a mild version of spiciness. The dish itself has a wonderful flavor to it. I asked Nit why this was so mild when I asked for it to be spicy. She said usually that's as spicy as most patrons here expect. So how do I get real Thai levels of spiciness? Apparently you have to specify "VERY SPICY" and ask for numbers of Thai chili scoops. The usual spicy here is 1 Thai chili scoop. One of my favorite Thai dishes is not on the menu, massaman curry. Their "tom yum soups" are called "spicy soups", so I was initially let down that this fave Thai dish wasn't seen, but I just had to read the fine print. There is an option for brown rice here... yay! Everything was A-OK. Food overall had good flavor and service was friendly and attentive. We didn't have to wait too long for the food to arrive nice and hot. It seems this place is geared for those uninitiated to the Thai cuisine or prefer "less pizazz" in their food choices. So, if you're curious about what Thai food is, this would be a good place to get your feet wet ;) read more

A really nice girl ended up calling me shortly after and explained that they were open and had my food ready. I loved the War Won ton Soup! My husband & I split the Cashew Chicken and the grilled chicken salad. My friend, Cheryl, is a huge fan of this place and knows just what to order. Both of the dishes she ordered had a great peanut sauce. I will update this with the Thai names after I talk to her. A pitcher of beer was $8.00. The portions were generous. The waitstaff were very kind to the children. As we walked past the packed bar area at 6:30 PM., we were guided to our table. We had reservations and everything went well.
