Stopped for lunch here while we were camping at the state park. Small place but a large menu of different sandwiches. I had a cheese burger which was very good and hubby had a roast beef panini which he said was excellent. The owner stopped to talk to us when he was done preparing sandwiches for a short time. He mentioned the roast beef is cooked on site and sliced there. If you are in the area please stop and try some of their sandwiches. I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

The sandwiches and staff are out of this world! This is a must visit if you are traveling to or through Lexington. I had the chicken salad sandwich, so so good! I realllllllly wanted to try a piece of the cake, as it was beautiful and amazing looking, however, they sat uncovered, and that is just a turn off. Went and had lunch at The Lunch Box today, and I was somewhat disappointed. Soup came out cold and sandwich was somewhat soggy. The waitress seemed in a rush and not very pleasant. Food is amazing. Great variety, tastes fresh. Huge menu. The service was spotty, and not as attentive and agreeable as I would hope, but I will eat here in the future. Once again, food was phenomenal. It's a sandwich shop, but it's a great sandwich shop. There should be more like it. Interior is neat and colorful and eclectic. I had a chicken salad. My family and I were traveling through town and stopped on the square to search for a place for lunch. The Lunch Box presented a good menu for sandwiches, soups and salads. The menu had traditional and some special offerings. There were 30 different sandwiches. We had paninis, clubs and grilled pimento cheese; all well prepared and fresh. Neat little hole in the wall local place.. The atmosphere was nice and friendly. Only problem we had was the sandwich came dressed and instead of remaking it they scraped most of it off and sent it back out with seeds and dressing. A great find on court square. This 60-70s deco theme is fun for your memory lane while the food is coming out of the kitchen. The bread is house made. The menu is a tasty departure from the southern fried fare. I had the tri-tip on french roll with wild mushroom soup (a real winner!). Service was fast, friendly with the chef making the rounds to spot-check customer satisfaction. A notable eatery, worth a second stop.
