    Chicken taco and beef taco
    Kelly W.

I love these guys. They always have a smile on their faces and are bursting with energy even on a rainy day. The tacos are the best yet in Auckland. They're jam-packed full of flavour. You definitely get the spicy kick and all the ingredients are super fresh. My favourites are the beef tongue and the spicy chorizo. The ice blocks are made with the guys at Nice Blocks. It's creamy and oh-so-good. It is perfect to have after two tacos, especially to quell the burning sensation from having too much of their Lucky Taco hot sauce. I am constantly craving these tacos. You can find them by checking out their schedule on the website. They're usually in Ponsonby in the Flying Fish carpark or recently in Street Food Collective also.

Best takeout, even on a rainy day!

A delicious fish taco was enjoyed here! Great idea. The chilli beef box was pretty darn good too!

You order and pick up your food at the counter. The salsa and hot sauce they provide was a great add. Ambiance was your typical airport restaurant. Honestly would go here again this food was fantastic.

I visited the Sylvia park location but since it's not on Yelp I will write my review here…read more This is a fusion restaurant with Mexico as inspiration, but for me has more style than substance. The staff were friendly and the service was fast, the decor is brilliant, but the food is way off. A carne asada taco really only requires steak, onion, cilantro and salsa. The carne asada taco here had fried onion rings and chipotle mayo. The only thing I could taste when I bit into it was the mayo. The battered shrimp taco tasted like turmeric. With the lack of authentic mexican food in NZ, I really wonder why this restaurant chain thought it needed to change up on an amazing cuisine, and then to name the restaurant "Mexico". I can't tell if it's arrogance or a lack of confidence to reproduce the real flavors. It neither produced something special and new, nor reproduced the magic of the original. Fine for what it is though, but I had high hopes that a restaurant named "Mexico" would live up to its name.

The Roaming Dive - My cups of chicken. The lighting was horrible at night, so unfortunately this picture doesn't do your cuisine justice, Pete!

The neon blue glow drew me in once again, as the truck was parked on the corner of Queen and Quay…read more Since I've frequented the Roaming Dive, I decided to make a request of Pete. "Can I just have a cup of chicken?" He didn't even flinch. He even added, "I was thinking you might like something like that", since my previous review mentioned that I don't eat bread. He asked if I would like something like a salad with the two types of chicken of the day: sweet spicy chicken (which I had previously) and his buffalo chicken. I immediately accepted and took a seat, waiting patiently for the goodness. Annnd it was exactly what I wanted. I hadn't had buffalo chicken since I left the States, so this was a welcome dinner. Pairing this chicken with his crispy fries were spot on. Making sure the sweet spicy chicken didn't feel neglected, I had to pace myself and alternate between the two cups of chicken. So delicious, it was everything I wanted on that dreary night.

I find it hard to turn down a slider and at The Roaming Dive you can get two for 9 bucks…read more Since there were two options it seemed only right to sample one of each! First up, spicy chicken w shredded 'berg. The chicken was epic. I'm not sure what marinate they use but it was dark, sticky and damn delicious. For me, green cabbage would've been better than iceberg though. The heat of the truck and then the chicken in the bun had made the 'berg limp. Next we tried the fried haloumi. It was mighty tasty, crunchy on the outside squeaky on the inside. Seriously, how good is haloumi? Red cabbage slaw added a bit of crunch and cut through the salt. The guys working in the truck were lovely. They seemed a bit stressed but I would be too if I was churning out food in such a confined space! Looking forward to seeing where these guys turn up over summer!
