La Rueda - Crab isn't on their normal menu but we called two days in advance to get it ordered in especially for my mums birthday.

Food- tasty and well portioned. I had the octopus salad and the taste was amazing and well cooked…read more Tapas we ordered very fresh although if I had to say something constructive would be to serve the patadas bravas sauce on the side so it could taste less mashy and more crispy. But fireworks in my mouth none the less :) Service - prompt always with a smile, this makes me come more often and I live 1 hr away. Although I had to get up a few times to make drink orders and we weren't checked on throughout. Ambiance - great lighting and everything so clean. Makes you feel happy to eat as you know the food will be treated the same. When music started (around 11pm) it was too loud we had to put tissue in our ears. Couldn't hear each other speak. Had to scream. DJ Sebastian had great music and had a cheeky dance with me. He's a bag of fun and great Merengue although had to leave because of how loud the music was as so close to our ears and not enough music variety. Only Salsa, Merengue and reggaeton. For me was amazing but my friends wanted something to dance to that they knew. Over all a solid 4/5 for me.

However - La Rueda isn't really cool, hip & trendy. What it does do is great tasting authentic traditional tapas, (try the octopus - it's delicious!) decor is traditionalist to the old Spanish era and most of the waiters- who are normally Spanish or Portuguese - always aim to give great service. The place is family friendly - I'll often see on a Friday/Saturday eve young children eating with their parents, which is rare for most of the other clapham bars & restaurants. The main two downsides are the desserts & the toilets. The desserts aren't fresh unlike the tapas & main dishes so I wouldn't particularly recommend them. And the toilets really do need a refurb as they're pretty much falling apart.

Takes 30 minutes to be prepared so we had high hopes but it was overcooked and had bad flavor. Items came to the table that we didn't order. Have to waive down server for anything. I loved the atmosphere of this place. It really felt like you were in a busy urban, vibing restaurant, just the kind of atmosphere I love the most. I hate dead beat places with no energy. When the actual dishes arrived, you can imagine, we were pretty excited. There was an array of spicy dishes of offer, meat, fish and something for veggies too. My brother ordered a chicken dish but the chicken was a little underdone, which was disappointing. Actually, overall, the food was slightly under par. Not to say it's awful, just didn't live up to the standards / expectations from what we had felt from sitting in the restaurant. This isn't the worst place in the world but I've had much better tapas meals elsewhere in London...

This is the right place if you're looking for a nice French restaurant with high quality foods…read more Their menu was really good and I have always had a great time here. I also like the vibe here, very relaxing and comfortable. The staff was super friendly and welcoming as well. It is a bit expensive but overall highly recommended! I'd suggest to make a reservation before you go.

Loved it, just loved it. Soif is the new restaurant from those who have brought us Terrorir and…read moreBrawn. While I love both of these restaurants, arguably Soif hits new heights. The space is divided into a small bar area (think 8 seats) for walk in customers and a larger area for the restaurant, seated bistro style, which is served by an open kitchen and a friendly and slick front of house team which know the menu and wine list well. We ordered the Charcuterie plate and a Cote de Beouf to share. Neither disappointed. The charcuterie plate combined salami with lovely hints of fennel and black pepper, a moist terrine and rillettes which struck just the right balance between porky goodness and creamy unctuousness. The Cote de Beouf was a great bit of meat, tender, flavoursome and served medium rare alongside a well balanced Bearnaise sauce and fried potatoes. It was close to food perfection. To finish, we enjoyed a hot chocolate pudding (dense, rich and dark) and a Pannacotta with mango and passion fruit which was lighter but well balanced with precise levels of vanilla (from the Pannacotta) and sweetness from the fruit. Along the way, we enjoyed exploring the wine list which has an interesting selection of well priced wine, largely in the £20-£40 bracket. Although the best choices is arguably on the main list, there is a good choice by the glass and also a selection of 'bin ends' off the main list. I think the thing that we liked best was the ambiance of the place. While we found Terroir and Brawn slightly austere, Soif was buzzing with energy, whether from the staff or from neighbouring tables. The positive vibe reflects the food on diners' plates and the wine in their glasses. This combination is sure to prove popular with Clapham residents and those from further afield for some time to come.
