@foodienumber1 I completely disagree with your comment about Lincoln Green's review. Lincoln has also reviewed various other restaurants with just as much detail.
I would also like to challenge the comment about the price. La Cascada is extremely cheap for a restaurant. If you go to your local chinese takeaway, one can expect to pay between £10 and £15 per person. If you ordered a takeaway kebab, you will quite happily spend around £8 for it. This isn't a chinese takeaway or a kebab shop This is a restaurant. They are paying staff to wait on you and you are sitting in the restaurant for around 2 hours. As such, if your total bill for food alone comes to £15-£25 per person, then this is quite good value if you ask me. Furthermore, they are no more expensive than some of the other restaurants in Colchester such as Green Room, Noodle Bar, Siege House etc
Furthermore, the majority of restaurants no longer cook their food fresh. They order it in, and their chef's tend to control a bank of microwaves if you want microwaved food and cheap, go to your local pub! It would not surprise me if restaurants like the Green Room or Lemon Tree in colchester or even the old siege house microwave their food now because their food quality has all gone downhill.
La Cascada actually take time to cook their food. Yes you will wait a little longer for your meal, but at least you know that they have used fresh, locally sourced ingredients and that the food has been actually cooked especially for you, by an authentic spanish chef.
My personal review: My partner is Spanish, and her mother is a Spanish Chef. My Father is a Chef and my Sisters partner is a Chef but for different cuisines. As such, I would like to think that I know what good food tastes like. I have travelled to Spain several times and have much experience of the local cuisine. The food at La Cascada is as good as, and in some cases better than you can find in many similar restaurants in Spain. Furthermore, the staff are extremely friendly and it is always fun to attempt to order in Spanish or practice speaking with their Spanish waitress.
The restaurant is clean and tidy, the rest rooms are always clean, there has always been a good atmosphere whenever I have visited. Overall, I would have to say that this restaurant is most definitely one of the top restaurants in Colchester offering mid to high-end quality food and service at very reasonable prices.
I have also seen various 15% off your meal discounts being distributed. Their vouchers include drinks as far as I am aware, so you can pick up quite a discount, especially if you are dining with the family. read more
