The staff were amazing in that they could not do enough for us. Our lunch was delicious, not hurried in any way. We had several glasses of wine and were able to relax & converse opposite very large windows looking out into the beautiful views. It will not be our last visit to the Europe Hotel. Do not miss.

We did get to have drinks in the lounge and dine at Panorama, both delightful experiences. No reservations could be made, so we showed up and put our names in for an hour wait. We found several snug spots to hang out while waiting and grabbed comfortable chairs in a lounge where we were immediately greeted by a very nice and accommodating server. We enjoyed some snacks (he even ensured the crisps were gluten-free and safe for me), and the drinks were excellent. Our table was ready on time, and we were seated by what probably was a spectacular window view, but while waiting for our table, the sun had set. While it was pitch black out, the restaurant itself was very elegant to look at. Also, our server was attentive and helpful with ordering gf. I had the monkfish and risotto, which turned out to be one of my favorite meals of the trip. Friends had French onion soup and salad, fish n chips, and a steak. Everything was excellent. Just wish we could have stayed as guests to enjoy the view, but highly recommended.

I was welcomed with a lovely chat over tea and a scone by the innkeeper Rosaleen O'Leary! I really appreciated her taking time to get to know me and share her thoughts on Irish history and culture. My room was good sized, appealing and a great value. Showers were hot with good water pressure. The gardens on the property were just gorgeous - imagine Secret Garden type plantings. My stay included a complete hot Irish breakfast with lots of coffee, eggs and Irish bacon - similar to a fried ham. Mmmm. I enjoyed a morning walk down the road to Ross Castle, which I highly recommend. Who knew the advancements in medieval architecture and defense? Ross Castle Lodge B&B is adjacent to the Killarney National Park, and one may walk through the park to get to the 'town' of Killarney where you'll find lots of restaurants, pubs & shops. Booking was easy via email. Walkable distance to town and the train station - but a cab is easier for arrivals! They gave us great recommendations and also drove us to the bus station when we had to leave. Killarney was amazing! It was our favorite city in Ireland and we would love to go back. Upon arrival, we were greeted with coffee and tea (and with puppy snuggles from Roma!); Mary was also quick to give us a short orientation of where we were located, recommended hikes in the national park and more. She was also incredibly helpful in helping us get reservations for our grandmother's 80th birthday. (Including recommendations on where to get a cake and balloons in town!) The location itself is fantastic - you can walk to a few short hikes - and you're only a short drive from some of the more popular hikes in Killarney National park. Then, you're only five or so minutes from downtown Killarney and a variety of restaurants, pubs, and entertainment. The rooms were clean and large! I don't know what sheets they use, but they were so comfortable and soft. They cleaned the rooms once a day. The breakfast was absolutely delicious! First, there is always a cold buffet - with granola, cereal, various fruits and pastries. The scones and jam were my absolute favorite! Then, there is also a hot menu to order from, which includes a full Irish breakfast, crepes, banana fritters, and more. We were the only people staying, so they didn't have an issue with us monopolizing the sitting room late at night, playing games and enjoying drinks. Overall, fantastic service, an adorable place, and a wonderful stay!

John took the time to tell us about all of our options while in Killarney, and his suggestion for the day trip to Gap of Dunloe ended up being my favorite part of our trip! Breakfast was delicious, and Bridget, the waitress, was very helpful in providing us directions. The location is a little off the beaten path, not really walking distance to bars and restaurants but only a 5 min drive. I personally loved how quiet it was, and the views are amazing! My only small complaint is that the room felt a little damp, probably because of the weather.

Agherton Lodge B&B - You made to feel like Lord of the manner at Agherton Lodge

Agherton Lodge B&B

It's just outside the small village of Banteer, and around 17km west of the town of Mallow in north Co. Cork. Agherton Lodge is a 2-storey detached house in a very striking setting, so much so that you feel like you're the lord or lady of the manner staying in this environment, in a pleasant ranch-like way. A really nice lady who was originally from the north welcomed us the early evening we arrived, and she very kindly laid us out tea, coffee & biscuits in the open plan front room, which was much appreciated. There were spacious solid wood floors throughout, (good for my asthma), it all looked both spotlessly clean & new, as well as warm & inviting. There were 4 of us, 1 woman, 3 blokes, staying in 3 rooms. Our 'boss' and only girl each had spacious double rooms to themselves, I shared an equally spacious twin room with the other guy. It was €35 each, which I felt was very good for this standard of accommodation. The bedrooms were fantastic, bright, breezy & cheerful, all with ensuite. The doubles have a lovely indulgent looking bath. Jo was so impressed she photographed hers! The beds, even the singles were blissfully comfortable. My room had a superb south facing view of fields, trees & rolling hills in the background and horses,(very frisky horses), in the foreground, with big french windows that opened onto a balcony. It was just so lovely & peaceful standing on the balcony & watching the horses frolic around, on a lovely mild evening in October, and relaxed me completely before a show I was doing at the nearby Glen Theatre. After a bit of a drink with the generous guys at The Glen, the B&B was equally welcoming at night. It was quiet season I should stress, and it was just us 4 in residence, but bearing in that the mind the couple running it had a son, & a very friendly dog, we were given loads of space, and truly felt it was ours! Breakfast next morning was to an equally high standard, and generous. I always love places that don't seem like guesthouses but places that you feel, well at home in, and we all definitely felt at home here. Real 5 star quality, and a lovely place to base yourself if you want to explore Cork & Kerry by car.

A young man, Robert, owns the B&B and does an excellent job making it and you feel at home. The room we had was nice and clean, with its own bathroom, and the bed was very comfortable. The location is great, walking distance to everything (though Dingle is not a very large town). On the second day we were there, while my husband was golfing and I was trying to decide what to do, Robert made up a pot of coffee with cookies and pastries and sat with me for a bit just to chat and relax. He also helped us with which pubs were "authentic" and gave us some recommendations on restaurants. The breakfast was fantastic, though I cannot finish a full Irish breakfast to save my life, and the coffee was perfect. We intend to return to Dingle (as it was our favorite place in Ireland) and will definitely stay at this B&B again.

Once settled her restaurant, pub and sightseeing tips were first rate. Bed was very comfortable and house was quiet (although we were travelling during the off season). Upon arriving, Olive was warm, welcoming, and took care of us with a pot of tea and chocolates and a friendly disposition that made us feel as if we were her old friends just popping by for a visit rather than strangers meeting for the first time. She had plenty of stories to share and wisdom on where to go and what to see while in Cork (and the appropriate maps to guide us in the right direction). Our room was cozy with a reasonably sized bathroom (by Irish standards) and a sweeping view over the city. The breakfast was prompt and piping hot - my husband raved about the black and white pudding, while I stuck to scrambled eggs, beans, and toast. Plus, the B&B is located a comfortable walking distance from the bus terminal and train station. I'd recommend Auburn House to any out of town visitors looking for the full B&B experience.
