On 4/30/22, I discharged from Schuylkill Center and came home to live with my wonderful son, in Middletown, PA. My insurance had arranged for me to have a Home Health Aid, 6 hours per day, 7 days per week. The agency they arranged to provide this service: Comfort Keepers of Lancaster, PA.. Instead of sending me the same dedicated Aid each day, they sent different Aids, Sunday through Thursday. Only one Aid was very helpful. The rest were unprofessional, in one way or another. Then, on Thursday, the owner of this Comfort Keepers franchise called me to tell me the misinformation the Aids we're giving her. Then, after 8:00pm Thursday evening, the owner called me to say that she did not have an Aid to schedule for me for Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and possibly Monday! She left me in the lurch!!! This is EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL! This is UNACCEPTABLE! My insurance provided me with service hours for an Aid because I NEED that service. So, I called my insurance. My Service Coordinator is upset. The program department is working on finding a different home health agency. It could take a few weeks... All that time, I will not have the help I need. My advice to anyone who needs assistance or who is looking for assistance for a loved one, whether via insurance paid or private paid, learn from my experience. DO NOT HIRE Comfort Keepers, the Lancaster PA office!

I stayed at Manor care for 4 days and thought the service was horrible. I just had a total hip…read morereplacement so I was suppose to get help to go to the bathroom, but when I rang the bell it took over 10 minutes most of the time for someone to respond. Their solution to this problem is to put everyone in depend briefs so if you can wait for them it doesn't matter. Once my family brought my personal walker in I started taking myself to the bathroom if staff did not come. Also, most of their food was the consistency of oatmeal and had no flavor. I was thankfully moved to Lancaster Rehab Hospital and discharged to home only 10 days later. I believe that if I would have stayed at Manor Care for my rehab it would have taken me close to 2 months to get to the point I am at today. Needless to say, I would not recommend Manor Care to anyone!!

We signed on with Direct Primary Care so we at least have physician coverage. I have chronic issues that need monitoring. I receive the utmost care from this practice, better than mainstream insurance bound practices. Since being with them, they have given me the tools to lose over 60 lbs in a year and reduce my chances of type 2 diabetes and cholesterol. Something I have struggled with for many years. I highly recommend this practice if you are looking for a physician like the old family practices we used to have. You are a member of the family not just a number or insurance claim.

We also needed her to verify that she didn't forget to take her morning medication. "Michelle, the woman that By Your Side Home Care sent our way, is fantastic! She almost feels like an old family friend. She works so hard and does so much when she is at our place on [street name removed] Drive. We made a list, for her, of the things we wanted her to do if she had a chance. She gets everything done on the list, and then she does some other project that we didn't expect each time that she's there ... one time she cleaned our whole little front porch and the window of the front door, so that my mom could see out onto the porch. The cushions had been placed on the chairs and she had taken one of my mom's African violets and put it on the on the little table between the two chairs. When I saw this, I knew she was an artist ...the way she coordinated the placement of the flower so perfectly between the chairs and it called to the pattern on the seat cushions. This touched me, it was so sweet. My mom has difficulty in remembering, and sometimes she gets out food from the freezer and thaws it and then doesn't eat it, so, often there is too much food in our refrigerator and we don't know what was gotten out and when. Michele, when she is there, puts little notes on all of the things that are in the refrigerator that have "recently appeared" with the date so that we know when the food possibly would go bad. This is super great and I think it helps keeping my mom healthy. Michelle is quickly becoming a family friend. My mom really likes her and feels comfortable with her. One time recently, she even clocked out after her scheduled work time had ended and came back to the house and spent a little bit of time putting together the jigsaw puzzle and just talking to my mom. This was sweet and meant the world to my mom. On one her first visits, she brought a jar of homemade jam. My mom loved it. Every week that I went to visit, I made something and put some of the jam on. My mom remarked that it's the gift that keeps on giving. And I replied, "Just like Michelle". We recommend Michele for the employee of the month award.

There are plenty of activities, clubs, exercise classes, committee's, and entertainment to keep us busy. There is free transportation to the nearby Park City Mall, super markets, Leisure Lanes Bowling, Walmart, and Central Market to name a few. The food in the Garden Cafe for breakfast & lunch and dinner in either of the formal dining rooms has been excellent !!! The variety and quality of food is second to none. We eagerly await the opening of the new Viva Centre, which will house a new swimming pool, 300 seat theater, exercise area, and more. It will be the center of activity for all of Woodcrest Villa.
