Short answer: Professional, friendly, and skilled locksmith. He drives to your location so the convenience can't be understated. He was at my house 10 minutes after I called and saved me literally hundreds of dollars over what the dealership wanted to simply program a spare key for my new car. I highly recommend this locksmith and won't hesitate to use his services in the future. Long answer: I recently purchased a used car (2012 Ford) that needed a spare key. Due to new technology the car must be connected to a special computer to create a new key. The dealership wanted an absurd amount of money to program a spare key for me. They also needed me to stop by their inconvenient location during their inconvenient business hours and could provide no estimate of how long it would take. Everyone knows that some tow truck drivers can be... a bit jaded after years of dealing with distraught drivers and bad situations. They can also sometimes take hours to show up. I called The Lock Doctor and he showed up at my house 10 minutes later. He was friendly and professional. While he was working on my key we had a pleasant conversation and I found him to be just a normal nice guy. He even explained the intricacies of my car's security system and gave me tips to save money in the future is I ever get a third key. His equipment was impressive. He used a mini CNC machine to create my new key and then used a specialized computer to connect to my car's OBDII system. The car didn't cooperate at first but he had an even more advanced computer that got the job done. As a technician myself I was impressed that he had modern suite of tools right there in his van to complete this rather unique job. He was done in about 15 minutes so overall it took about 45 minutes from the time I dialed his number until I had my new spare key in my hand. His fee was very fair, especially considering I never had to leave my house. It was definitely better than the hundreds of dollars that the local dealership wanted and I didn't have to use any gas or fight the daytime traffic to get to their awful location. If you need a spare key for your modern car that requires more than just a trip to Lowes then don't hesitate going with The Lock Doctor in Charlottesville. read more

If you all need an Automotive Locksmith, I highly recommend the services of "The Lock Doctor" to you! We just purchased a newer used car, and it only came with one (1) Key Fob! The Dealership wanted an ungodly amount of money ($650.00) to get one (1) extra key made! AQs that was not at all practical, I went to e-Bay and I found two (2) new keys for my car that only needed to be cut and programmed! I searched the Harrisonburg area first for an Automotive Locksmith, as that's close to my home, only to find that my best option was "The Lock Doctor" out of Charlottesville! I called them and the owner, Terry, answered my call right away! He gave me an absolutely terrific price on cutting and programming my two (2) new keys, which included him driving to my home to get the job done on site! You just cannot beat the friendly, prompt and great service provided by "The Lock Doctor", not to mention the price! Terry saved us over $1,110.00 over the Dealership Costs for two new Keys! Believe you me! You don't need to waste any time calling any other Locksmith in the Valley! Call "The Lock Doctor" for all of your Locksmith needs! I know you won't be disappointed! The most unprofessional person I've ever meet. My father had is license taken because medically he was having issues. we explained this to The Lock Doctor and showed paperwork probing it but he refused to not make a key for this man to get in the road and endanger the lives if every person he meet. When we asked to speak to a supervisor etc, he just said I'm my own boss and I do what I want. He continued to laugh in our faces and was only worried about the money he was going to make stating wasn't his problem if he gets on the road but he was going to make a key for him. No respect for individuals or the situations and more disturbing yet is no conscience to what his action could lead to or who could be lost. DONT EVER USE THESE PEOPLE.... read more

If there were 10 stars, I'd give em 20!!! Not good with names, but think Kyle is his name?? Regardless... I'll call that mf Jesus!!! He was gracious enough to come to my house on a Saturday and laser cut a key for 2015 Chevrolet Equinox without the original that was lost. He used only the vin number. Damn miracle worker!! I never have done a review, but my man was deserving of this one!! And only $250 and threw in a spare for me. If you ever have a key issue, he's the man!!! I promise you, you won't be disappointed. DON'T GO TO THE DEALERSHIP!! Unless you actually want to give them your arm and leg. Thanks!! read more

My husband was in a fix at Lowe's the other day and Terry happened to be behind my husband in line, and when Lowe's couldn't do their job, Terry went out of his way to help my husband in the parking lot at Lowe's and keyed some locks for him and wouldn't even take any payment. Pretty unheard of these days! A big thank to Terry and will be calling in the future and will certainly recommend your company highly. read more

Terry was a great help to me when I was in trouble. He arrived quickly to help me get my lock open. I compared the Lock Doctor to the other Charlottesville locksmiths, and he gave me the best price by far. He is also way nicer than the other locksmiths I talked to. I'd recommend the Lock Doctor to anyone looking to get a lock picked. No matter how obscure the job may seem, Terry is your man. read more

We've been struggling with a faulty 3-point locking mechanism on our sliding patio doors for a long time, so I finally decided to call Terry at the Lock Doctor. He came right on time and within 45 minutes had removed the locking mechanism, found a broken part, and replaced it. Most amazing is that the locking mechanism is decades old, and Terry had the necessary part with him! read more

Terry was super nice and came quickly to help me (a poor college student with an awful landlord) despite a snowstorm. He's a pro! There was no damage to the door and it was quick. He charged me $60 for the doorknob lock. The price range in Charlottesville is $50-60 so that's good enough for me. I highly recommend him. read more

Holy smokes this guy is fast. I called at 12:05 and was back on the road at 12:19. I didn't love the fee, but what can you do? He did The job in less than 20 minutes and charged a premium for it. Service like this is rare anymore. Hope this guy is very successful. Call him, it's worth it! read more

We have used the Lock Doctor multiple times and he does good work. He also is professional and respectful. The only reason I am giving a 4 star is because I called and left a message and did not get a return call. read more
