Three stars for offering very inexpensive records reel-to-reel recordings, and yes, cassettes and…read more8-tracks back in the day! It seems like you got eight [Yelper friend Michael N., is probably right, it was twelve vinyl records or cassettes] options of the "records" you wanted for a penny! The catch was you had to promise to purchase a set number of records or tapes in the future at full prices plus shipping. I remember seeing their direct mail ads as well as ads in magazines while I was growing up. Turns out the fancy phrase for this type of distribution is "negative option billing." Looking at old ads, thirteen records or tapes for $1.00 still seems like a great deal, especially these days! Columbia House filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2015; however, it looks like they may still cell CDs. Columbia House cited the intense competition of digital media and the resultant declines in the recorded music business. I'm glad I didn't "Go a little Crazy" and join their club!

Heavily advertised in large circulation periodicals such as Parade and TV Guide the come on was too good to pass up. Send them a penny and they'll send you twelve vinyl records or cassettes (later CDs) of your choice as long as you promised to buy twelve more at an absurdly inflated price over the next year. I had legions of friends who built entire music collections by sending in numerous memberships under ridiculous fake names. I wonder if they ever caught up to Ben Dover, Dick Hertz or Buck Nekkid. Even as a teen you had to wonder how they made money off this termite infested marketing strategy. They're all but gone now but I to wonder how critical they were in the career trajectory of Billy Joel and the Captain & Tennille who always managed to be the featured artists of the month. Dick Hertz sends his regards and magnanimously awards five stars to this mail order dinosaur.

While downtown, I stopped in this (mainly) vinyl shop to see what they had available. It's a bit…read moredark and the shop is long and narrow. I noticed a mix of musical instruments scattered through the shop and the man working was busy setting up something towards the back. He did greet me, but pretty much did his own thing back there while I browsed. The records were generally alphabetical, but grouped in genres. I figured it out since the genre type was not prominent unless you looked at titles. I saw they also carried some movies and cd's, but those seemed to be completely random without any sorting. Although they have a lot of vinyl here, I will say that I've found more organized and helpful places in the Indy metro area than here. If you want to shop in the Kokomo area only, then take a chance to see what you may find. Review #3733

Maybe hire good workers instead of personal friends? Went in with a friend, saw a couple others in…read morethe shop and bought a beer and ordered food (school pizza) and went browsing. About 15 minites later friend asks if i got my food. They (all three of the people working at the time) forgot to cook it. Okay so I wait longer. I ask again. They forgot it again but this time in oven and the food is burned. I finish my beer and I think I got a slight discount on the beer I actually received so I guess there's that. Hiring your "buddies" to help around the shop is prob a Funtime but not from a customers point of view. Shop is decent, it's just kinda gimmicky and gives a hipster thrift shop feel.
