I adore this place! It has been my "go to" for music since I…read morewent to school at Purdue in the 80's. On my last visit, I scored 2 OOP Prince CD's I had been wanting to purchase but did not want to pay the obscene bidding prices on Ebay. I also found another CD that I didn't even know I wanted, but at their prices I had to own it. This place is a TREASURE TROVE for the old school album hunters and newer CD searchers. I can wait to return to look some more. Rock on JL Records! My your turn tables play forever!!

I have been buying stuff from Jim since he was selling used vinyl at flea markets. Then he had a…read moreshop on State Street for years before moving to this location. If you can't find what you're looking for here, then it doesn't exist. If it does, they can order it for you. There is really TOO many CDs here, with CDs piled on top of the racks, and in boxes underneath. It makes it kind of  hard for quick browsing, but if you like to dig dig dig this is the place. Although the selection is daunting, chances are they have what you're looking for. There is also a very nice selection of collectible CDs, boxes, promos, and stuff that you are just not going to find anyplace else. The used CDs are top quality; they don't buy junk like other used CD stores. There is a money back guarantee but I doubt you'll ever need to return anything. The only negative comment I have is that the prices of used CDs may be a little high for some titles. The big boxes are dumping back catalog new CDs for as little at $4.99, but you'll find a used copy here for $9.99. If you think a particular used title is priced too high, just ask. Often the price reflects availability. If it's out of print, the price goes up. If it's been reissued recently, mention that to the staff and the price might go down. They also stock many "import" CDs at ridiculously high prices. With high quality torrent downloads so prevalent, there is no reason to buy these "import" CDs. Selling your used CDs depends on what your selling. They buy used CDs based on quality and availability, and if they think they can sell it. If the title your selling is out of print or rare, you will get more. If the store has 25 Justin Bieber CDs in the rack, they may not even want it. They know what sells and they know their customers, so be prepared to take back home the Britney Spears CDs you listened to in elementary school. The vinyl loft has been greatly expanded, and here is where I think the real bargains lie. The price of used, near mint, and new vinyl is very reasonable. Even hard to find stuff is priced right. No price gouging here. Finally, they also buy and sell used DVDs and video games. I don't normally browse those areas so I can only say that it's available.

I ended up settling on the $150 to have straight cash, but wish I could've gotten a little more for such a collectible item. I loved the assortment and variety, but it is a little bit on the pricey side. There's a little bit of everything in the shop, and chances are, if you can think of it, there's a possibility it's there. Definitely one of my favorite video game shops based on variety. Lots of older and newer consoles, headsets (new and used), controllers (new and used), cameras, iPhone/android phones (lots of older models), and tons of video games, cd's, records, posters, and accessories for video games from throughout the years. The shop is a bit cluttered, but that adds to the charm. I've found over the years that the cluttered shops tend to have more of what you need, more of what you don't need, and things you didn't know existed. I thoroughly enjoyed looking through everything in the shop, as I am a bit of a "collector" of everything. Now on to the part of the Owner.. Reading the reviews ahead of time, I was scared to be met by a middle aged women with the personality of the Wicked Stepmother from Cinderella. When my girlfriend and I walked in, we were met with a "hello! How are you?" by the shop owner, who, after asking, is named Fran. Just like all pawn shops, she buys low and sells high, and I gotta respect the hustle. We had a chat for a while, and I ended up purchasing a Switch Lite from her. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience with the shop and it's owner. Fran is truly a nice lady if you're friendly and respectable towards her. I plan on making a trip to this shop every time I'm in the Lafayette area! My review breakdown: I gave her and her shop 4 stars. I enjoyed the shop and the "clutter" (treasure, in my opinion) and I enjoyed getting past the negative reviews on Fran and her shop. Will be back!

When my son tried to use the phone, it was locked and could only be unlocked by a totally unknown owner so the phone was worthless. When my son tried to return the phone, the owner refused to take the phone back or to return my son's $100. We tried to work with the owner to explain the problem, but that only resulted in us being asked to leave the store. We refuse to be intimidated by this scam and filed a claim in Small Claims Court against this shop and the con-woman owner. I would suggest that you never do any business with this woman unless you are fond of potentially stolen merchandise that may or may not work, and you wish to never see your money again. It's similar to the old roach hotel ad, once your money enter her store and ends up in her hands, it will never come out again! BEWARE, YOU'VE BEEN FOR-WARNED!.

Whenever we need a gift for a kid, this is always the place I head to first. You can also buy books online and they will deliver them to you (locally) for free. I also appreciate their concern for safety during the pandemic. They're the only local business I know of that kept their mask mandate in place after the CDC guidance in May 2021 that vaccinated people didn't need to wear masks. Since many people in Indiana aren't fully vaccinated and most no longer where masks except where required, I don't really feel comfortable taking my unvaccinated child many places and I appreciate Second Flight Books' concern for children under 12 (and high risk adults). I know they've taken some heat for this policy, so I just want them to know how much it was and still is appreciated by our family.

My hubby was in heaven looking around and told me I am officially in charge of making yelp use a 6 star system so I can give them 6 stars. They have wall to wall and several aisles stocked full of product. They even have a buy 2 items under $3 get the 3rd item under $3 free. They have loads of dvds/blurays, cds, some books/manga, old and new games and systems, and some awesome collectibles. The employees definitely were the cherry on top. He was telling us about the setup of the store, deals the have and about their trade in policies (which are the states policy and super intense to stop stolen items from being sold. They even do fingerprints). My husband is officially obsessed with this store and if he could live here he would. We had to go back to the hotel to grab a game to trade in and on the way back he said "I love this place. I know we aren't there but I'm going to talk like we are because my soul is there". I have no doubts we will be back. We ended up getting a few different things and we were pleased with everything.

What was even better was their variety of vinyl, and I ended up purchasing two LPs and one CD. Prices for either medium were either reasonable for used or overpriced, not really in the middle. A lot of their collection, including the CDs, is behind glass, which makes it not as easy for a shopper to quickly check out the inventory before buying.

Both of my nieces sent me gift ideas, which is great, but have you ever tried to find a needle in a haystack? Even when having a picture? While I did find one item on my own, I finally asked for reinforcement, and thank goodness Kelli was there to help. Kelli was busy when I approached, yet she was very polite, kind and very helpful. She led me back to the kids section where I was just meandering aimlessly, and within 5 seconds hands me the book I was looking for, then offered to locate any other items I needed. Just so happened that I did have one other item. I will say my first thought was not optimistic as I figured we'd spend forever trying to find it. But Kelli didn't need other help. She didn't need to ask a co-worker. She didn't need to verify the item's location in the computer at the customer service desk, she was on it. She said "I knew exactly where this was because I restocked them 2 days ago". Brilliant! Not sure how long I would have spent inside B&N wandering blindly, but Kelli saved the day and saved me a bunch of time during the holiday rush. B&N has themselves a good one. Thanks again Kelli.
