I ordered a "Cinnecan" roll, which is a huge homemade cinnamon roll with a center of gooey cream cheese and topped with pecans and a caramel like glaze. I couldn't believe the size of it. Fortunately, I don't have to worry about my blood sugar! I brought half of it back to the hotel. The place has minimal decor, but is clean and is perfect for a locally owned breakfast spot. MSG occurs naturally in nature in minute teeny tiny little amounts. The stuff that's in the food is made in factories and is a chemical. It is attitude or food because the moment it hits her tongue, and neurotransmitter sends it to the brain and says "OMG! This is the most amazing stuff ever!" (Think of your bag of Doritos that disappears so quickly, even when you're no longer hungry.) it also hides in labels as "natural flavors, spices, seaweed...". Rarely will it ever say monosodium glutamate, because the rule is if I add it I have to put on the label. But if I buy it from you in spices or flavoring, then all I have to put in is "spices or natural flavoring". Our meal was excellent. At Claudia's recommendation we have the aloha burger with chicken instead of beef. Really super tasty and perfectly cooked. The French fries and sweet potato fries were outstanding and perfectly cooked. If it wasn't for the MSG, we would have returned. If you can finish your meal with no headaches, then this is the place for you to go! Typically when I come across this, I can make with salt and pepper or chili flakes in this instance to make it more appealing, but that wasn't the case here. It just seemed overall the quality of ingredients were low and the meal was bland. I was looking for garlic, olive oil or something to add flavor in our dishes (he got a seafood pasta and I got a pomodoro with meatballs) The meatball portion was truly underwhelming. While not dry, completely lacking in flavor. Just a really soft texture with ground beef taste and nothing quite else. I couldn't quite taste the tomato in any part of either of our dishes. While I understand there could be a thought that it was meant to be a more "authentic" style as written in a prior review, one of the key components when making an "authentic" anything is quality ingredients and unfortunately this was not the case here. While convenient and cost-effective to source from Sysco or U.S. Foods, pricing above $20 a plate for a pasta dish that doesn't have flavor is a disappointing experience for most diners. At minimum, we would've loved a better quality bread, a more fresh, flavorful sauce for my husband and I's dishes, and for the noodles to be cooked in salted pasta water or until no longer crunchy. I got about 5 bites in before I unfortunately gave up on the dish. I'll give the same tip I give to all with flavor concerns: taste the food you're serving.
