Coffee: Refinery Espresso Passion: 8/10…read moreCrema: 7/10 Finding great coffee up north has been a challenge for some time. Sure there are a couple of cafes that make a passable coffee, but I am more likely to drive 30min south to find something enjoyable. So you can imagine how happy I was a couple of months ago to find a cafe in Hornsby that is roasting their own beans. While the first couple of months has seen a refining of the blend of beans, now the mix is much more to my liking (not overly dark). Better still, one the occasion (like today) they are even starting to offer single origin coffees. Today I had a Brazilian single origin from the Dattera Estate which (after getting the espresso shot pulled over a small dash of hot water) opened up brilliantly. While straight up the espresso had a tinge of something dark in the after taste, with the water it was smooth and a little floral. Very enjoyable. So while I will still travel far and wide for a great cup of coffee, it is great to know that I have at least on cafe I can count on closer to home. N.B. No public WiFi is available No #powerwhoring is available Decent breakfast menu available (Via http://bitterbliss.com/cafe-reviews/the-refinery-espresso/ )

They brew their own coffee here, so stop and have a chat - they love talking about their coffee. And it is good. The cafe was small and the staff was extremely friendly. They have all day breakfast which a serious plus sometimes. The food here is good. Honestly probably not as good as the coffee, but I can't point out anything bad about it. They have a specials board which changes weekly. And also they have dessert, sandwiches and pastries if you just want a quick bite to eat and not willing to sit down. Worth coming to if you are in the area.

What a find. You wouldn't pick it, I came here on a friends advice. From afar looks like a place…read morethat mums hang out at after dropping their kids at school or after a gym session in the park across the road. Inside it has the coolest decor, wood tables, white chairs, succulent plants and the themed 'Gem' around the place, beautiful candles and would fit right in with any trendy CbD cafes. They advertise Toby's estate from out front so that's encouraging. Waitresses and waitress are trendy and very efficient. I read through the breakfast options; banana bread, messy Jesse burger (bacon, egg, mushroom, hash brown), smashed Avi, brekie bowl, breakfast salad (spinach, strawberries, walnuts, Haloumi and avo), eggs your way, scrambled egg board with labne, waffles, eggs benedict and they also have lunch options; falafel stack, burgers, salads and salt and pepper squid. So much to choose from. It was still early so I had the brekky bowl, a huge bowl of yoghurt with homemade granola, seasonal fruits - today was strawberries and banana, with chia seeds, pistachios and honey. Prices are good, thus was $12 and everything ranges from $6 up to about $18. Really nice and Id love to come back for other stuff! They also had killer shakes; cookies and cream, strawberries and cream, salted caramel, banana split, vanilla bean. I got the vanilla bean which was a vanilla milkshake topped with cream, jelly beans, sprinkles and a freddo frog. Children would love this. Great cafe if you're in the area or Id certainly recommend the drive to find it.

The food is average and the coffee is always bitter. The milkshakes were the biggest disappointment- they are so thin it seems like there is no ice-cream in it and it literally just tasted like milk, not the vanilla flavour I ordered.

Been looking for an excuse to try out The Station in Wahroonga since it took over from the previous…read more(forgettable) cafe, and was interested to see it's a Gabriel cafe. While there was no single origin coffee on offer, the mac I had was surprisingly good. Character notes other than chocolate and nuts are rare in blends from the larger roasters, but this one managed to avoid the over roasted taint, and still retain a nice blend of sweetness and acidity. Obviously I would prefer a black coffee option like a single origin coffee, but this cafe is finally a viable option in Wahroonga. Passion: 7/10 Crema: 7/10 Coffee: Gabriel

In all honesty I prefer the Butcher's Block - but this cafe does come at a close second. The coffee here is from Gabriel's. And sadly no single origin beans are on offer. The brew a nice cup either way. But I think the pull here is not the coffee, but rather the food. The food here is a good - I've only come for breakfast. They generally don't do any take away food, so this is more of a sit down place. The beacon, egg and avo toast is good, and the homemade oats are really good. Just a warning this place is small, and most of the times the tables are reserved. So either reserve before hand or be prepared to wait for a table. The staff here are friendly, and constantly apologize to you if you are waiting. So even though not as good as the Butcher's Block, it is still worth a visit.

Ok, I am really sorry to everyone who recommended this place to me. All those who live in the area…read moreare willing to offer their left arms for this place. However, for me this place wasn't that special - in a nut shell, it is expensive and you really don't get what you pay for. Every dish has to have some 'exotic' ingredient to justify the price, but I'm sorry, still not worth it. Don't misunderstand me, the food is good if you are willing to pay for it. But I think the most disappointing thing was the coffee, it was weak and quite average. And I came here in the morning, which is my spiritual coffee time! And instead of reaching self-enlightenment with my cup of coffee, I just got woken up. Specifically, as after eating here, I made sure that I drove past the Baron to get a real cup of coffee. I know that I am being harsh, but when you are paying $30+ for a breakfast and coffee I except a bit more. And sadly I don't think I got it.

Weather was predicted to dump all day but just as we approached Dural.... BAM!! Hello rain. But once we made it to the cafe, the cute outdoor seating was drenched. However inside was super cozy and the perfect place to hit out with a coffee. The kitchen was closed when we made it but a second wind for a second lunch totally could have happened. The burger sounded aahhhmazang!! The treat skim piccolo and a cheeky brownie totally hit the spot and the day was a success! The coffee was soooo good! I'm no coffee connoisseur but that cup was so smooth with some surprising character to compliment. (I'll get better with my coffee descriptions lol) They were using 5 senses beans and I'm always a fan of them I'm coming back for that burger!!
