They always have a healthy inventory of different seafood and are open all year, which is exceptionally great for off-season travelers like me. Staff are exceptionally friendly and prices are fair. Their sales can also get you product for really cheap (for example, crab is currently 10 lbs / $20 yesterday). Another cool fact is that rare lobsters do end up here once in a while. They are obviously not for sale and will be sent to a lobster "sanctuary" that does not involve a warm bath. There was a blue lobster (1 in 2 million) and two Calico lobsters (1 in 30 million) in one of the holding tanks yesterday. This is something you won't have the opportunity to see at most (if not all) seafood markets.

We'd just heard a great recipe, on Maine public radio, for grillin' these babies. So we were on a mission and this was THE perfect place to get some fresh yummy shellfish!! C.H. Rich is nothin' much to look at, but you're not there for the ambiance! So, don't be deterred by the run-down feel of the place. It's a working fishing warehouse with huge lobster tanks in the back. A true Maine experience ;o).
