The highly skilled & personable trainers. Katee, fitness mgr and Siobhan are always upbeat, personable, helpful and admired by their clients. Both Katee & Siobhan provide me with constructive tips on how to improve my workouts which I so appreciate. And although I don't often see Stephen, he is a pleasure to deal with! All three trainers along with Antoine & Rocko are intelligent, thoughtful, kind and wonderful to engage! Antoine in particular is extremely helpful in moving my fav bicycle to my fav corner, and he patiently honors my request to slightly dim the bright lights. Antoine is also vigilant in helping to keep the gym spotless & clean! Thank you to the amazing Renee, AF manager for hiring such an accomplished, kind & personable team who consistently provide its members with a wonderful gym experience - they are outstanding in every possible way!     Been a member for about a year and enjoyed it. Instead of just writing a generic "everything is…read moregreat" 5-star review, here is my honest take and a couple of suggestions. Overall, it's a pretty good local gym, it works. Clean, good quality and variety of equipment and the staff/atmosphere are nice. You can come in anytime with your badge (big plus). They do get busy peak hours so you might have to wait vs tweak your workout plan, as the equipment you need is taken (a minus). I am giving it 4 stars for the overall experience but to really make it great they would need to add (I think a lot of people would agree with me here): good stationary bikes (peloton level, +/- a spin class) and a better locker room/changing space for those of us who need it. Not quite sure why they don't have it. Do most people go about their day in their gym clothes nowadays? Anyway, those are my 10 cents.

    How convenient it was to have the best personal trainer in the area come to my home to put me…read morethrough a personalized boot camp class! (Yes, Theo, don't start blushing yet, here it comes...) I work from home and have young children so Theo made it possible for me to keep my schedule and have an eye on my kids at the same time. He is very professional and you can tell he's a therapist too because we were able to address my motivation during times when I didn't want to exercise. He was able to switch up the exercises to keep me interested and adapting. We did Boot Camps, Circuit training, boxing (great mental release too!), and even did a few of our sessions in the pool because of his background teaching swimming lessons. Unfortunately I no longer live in the area but I would recommend him to anybody looking for a unique fitness experience and is well worth his price. I also heard he works as a senior fitness health specialist and I'm going to have him start working with my mother who is 65 years old when she gets out of physical therapy. Okay, now I'm babbling but I think it's pretty clear what I think of him :) Theo, i'll be contacting you when I come back through the area for another session in the park!

Occasionally when I'm on the road I look for someone to assist me in my my exercise program and came across Theos personal training yelp page. He was able to come to my hotel and Gym for two personalized workouts during the time I was in town. I have a personal trainer back home, and it was great to have Theos psychotherapeutic influence in our training. It felt like a combination of therapy and exercise. I would imagine that he's a great personal trainer to have if you live in the Lafayette or Walnut Creek area and would absolutely recommend him to people who are in town visiting and looking for a trainer. I will definitely have a few more sessions next time I'm in town! Thanks Theo!

Desmond's training philosophy is all about building sustainable, lifelong habits for health and happiness through challenging but flexible fitness routines (powerlifting, kettlebells, TRX, etc.) with a focus on mobility, proper form, meeting people where they are, and a good dose of humor. He's constantly learning more about health/fitness, practices what he preaches, and offers lots of tips and recommendations during & in between training sessions. When I started lifting, I couldn't squat the 45-lb. barbell with proper form and could barely walk after trying deadlifts for the first time (ha). Within 3-4 months of training with Desmond, I was squatting and deadlifting my bodyweight, benching and pressing with proper form, and could finally do chaturanga (yoga pushups)! I was leaner, looked forward to my 6 am workouts, and saw big improvements in my yoga practice (hello, balances, binds, & backbends, oh my!). I was delighted to realize that through working with Desmond, I'd 1) found a new passion in lifting and 2) transformed how I saw myself: I was capable of being strong and loved the joy + challenge of exercising. Another testament to Desmond's skills: After I'd been training with him for a few months, my husband saw how much happier and healthier I was and decided to work with him too. Still going strong! I highly recommend Desmond to anyone seeking a skilled, challenging, fun, and compassionate personal trainer to support their health and fitness goals!

I 'got busy with life' after having my baby, and waited a long time before contacting her. If I had only known how amazing she is, I would 1000% have reached out to her sooner! She is kind, motivating, extremely knowledgeable, super organized, and makes every workout so fun. She has a very holistic approach to personal training- really understands you as an individual, and helps you figure what works best for you physically, emotionally, mentally, dietarily within the constraints of daily life hustle and bustle.  I have never been a 'gym person' or an exercise person (I'm someone who would always choose an elevator over stairs, a brunch over a jog together, etc.), but I absolutely look forward to and LOVE meeting for our training sessions. She makes them so enjoyable, and I feel so energized from our workouts on the days we meet. Starting personal training with her is 100% the best decision I made in a long time. She understood and was respectful of my (basically zero) baseline, knew how to work on/with my knee/arm injury, and has helped me work through my postpartum body struggles and weaknesses. I have lost weight/inches, gained muscle tone, don't feel as tired in my daily life when climbing stairs or walking uphill, my skin feels way nicer, I can see the difference in my resting heart rate on my Apple Watch, and this is definitely the strongest I've ever felt.  I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a personal trainer. As someone who approaches exercise with caution (accident and injury prone) she always listens to me and is ready to modify. As someone who battles a critical inner dialogue- I have found her style to be just the right amount of push and pull. I have really become more aware of the voices in my head when it comes to what I believe I am capable of doing. The workouts she plans for me are targeted to meet me where I am. Our sessions go by so fast and she is always so present and a good listener. I am proud of the progress I have made working with her-such a great feeling- you should try it!
