I've been seeing Dr. Cervera here, who is a hematologist, after a pulmonary embolism (blood clots…read morein my lungs). This is a very caring facility. I've interacted with them on the phone multiple times, and they've always been polite and helpful. They greet you as soon as you walk in the door. I've noticed they recognize and call several patients by name. The facility itself is pleasant, with lots of windows letting in light. They usually have up seasonal decor, to cheer up the reception area. There is plenty of seating and it is pretty quiet even though there are a lot of patients coming and going. I have to do bloodwork prior to each appointment and the lab is quick and efficient. They take care to ask which arm I prefer, have even helped me take off my jacket, and then make small talk while they work. It's usually another brief wait in the waiting area, and then I'm called back to the exam rooms. The nurse is always very kind, takes my vitals asks a few questions and then the doctor comes in. Dr. Cervera is very kind and attentive, he both asks questions and listens. I never feel rushed and feel that he explains things well and keeps me informed and involved in my care. I highly recommend the Cancer Center, Dr. Alfonso Cervera, and the staff.

I've been a patient at the Heart Rhythm Center for years and have always had a true five star…read moreexperience. Bradycardia runs in my family so as long as I can remember my slow pulse has panicked Primary Care doctors. As a child and teenager I knew a pulse of 38 was absolutely normal. As a young adult when I started long distance running it was not unusual to have a pulse in the mid twenties. When I lived in California I had been a study subject of University of California Medical Center in San Francisco and Stanford University. After moving to Kentucky I found a wonderful Cardiologist that was comfortable monitoring my Bradycardia. When my bradycardia started changing in it's normal pattern my Cardiologist referred me to the Heart Rhythm Center. Dr Thomas was the doctor that oversaw my continued treatment. He made recommendations along the way but was understanding about my hesitancy to over react. Once it was obvious I needed to consider a pacemaker due to A-Fib and a heart rhythm that was anywhere from slow to rapid Dr Thomas was the right doctor to handle my case. He had the experience to handle my other medical challenge of allergies to components of a routine pacemaker. Dr Thomas deserves at least ten stars for his ability to locate a modified pacemaker that I would not have an allergic reaction to. Since my successful pacemaker surgery I routinely check in with the pacemaker programmers at the Heart Rhythm Center. I also have follow-up visits with an APRN that is fantastic at the Heart Rhythm Center. The Heart Rhythm Center is not for all heart issues but if your medical condition has to do with any form of rhythm irregularities the Heart Rhythm Center is the place you want to be treated at.

I had been having stomach issues for the past few months and have not had a primary care physician…read moresince my pediatrician. So, I finally put on my big girl pants and found someone close near by to help me out. Since the Middletown KentuckyOne was not taking new patients, I was referred to see Dr. Erica Gettis and thought she was great. I found it a little odd that I had to wait for my paperwork to be snail mailed to me to even be considered for an appointment, but then again I don't go to the doctor very much so whatever. A few days later I received a call from them to get scheduled and it was a fairly easy process. The entire building is very nice, including Dr. Gettis' office. She scheduled me for an Ultrasound and let me know about possibilities of gallstones and surgery. Getting the Ultrasound done was a pretty easy process as well, and they called me the next day to let me know that the test was negative. There were a couple things that irked me a bit; One being a technician/nurse that could not take my blood work and didn't really seem to know what he was doing, so I have yet to get my blood drawn there. The second being every visit I've had takes an unnecessary amount of time. My check up took almost two hours, and would have lasted longer if I didn't tell them that I was going to be late for a work meeting. I'm still satisfied to be a patient here though, and recommend Dr. Gettis to anyone in the East end needing a PCP.
