Community Medical Center is not a large center but it is the most efficient computer literate medically knowledgeable polite and kind practice I have ever been to including large medical centers in Los Angeles and San Diego. Every office person at the entrance behind the windows at desks with computers and modernized databases are cheerful, professional, welcoming, quick and respectful. The hallways and exam rooms are spotlessly clean and disinfected with gurneys and furniture lower and designed for people of all ages and abilities. They seem to have their own lab with a cheerful respectful phlebotomist and the physician sits with the patient closely and asks detailed questions that he acts on immediately via his or her computer so that before you even leave the office he has (in my case and other) already made referrals for tests or scans or X-rays or to specialists or to pharmacist. You are automatically set up on their website so that you can sign in and see your test results or orders to specialists or tests and can easily message the physician with questions and they many times message you with what is being done found out or recommended. The website js set up to keep the patient as a partner with the doctor. Very very unusual these days but so needed and like the ones we see in movies but never experience until you come to Community Medical Center

If…read moreyou absolutely have to go to a clinic in these times, these are the things you hope to see once you get inside. Most of these things existed here in one way or another, and some were strictly enforced, with a few exceptions in their lobby/waiting room. Reception folks had masks. They had a "used pen" basket, but pens and old papers were left on the counter from previous patients. I would have liked to have seen mask enforcement on other waiting patients in the lobby; roping off chairs seemed insufficient as the waiting room is quite small. I would have also liked to have seen hand sanitizer stations near every door with a handle (my glove ripped opening one, which made me afraid to touch anything). The doctor (or APRN) is only allowed to enter your room once, to limit exposure, so he has to make sure he's doing it at the exact right time. For my visit, it was at the end of my appointment, after he had spoken to me on my cell twice, after one nurse asked general history questions (do you smoke, etc), another nurse recorded my symptoms over the phone, and a radiologist took me to get an X-Ray. During the APRN's short time with me, he took my BP, listened to my lungs, took my temp, recorded my RHR, and said he was pretty sure what I had was related to asthma and allergies. He also explained, "We have seen a lot of COVID here," so that I knew why he was unable to remain in the room for more than 5 min. The "a lot of COVID" statement scared me and had me grabbing paper towels from the patient room sink, just in case I had to touch anything on my way out. Most of my visit was by phone call from within the patient room; four phone calls in total to various nurses and the APRN. Why didn't they just do this with me from the parking lot? I spent all day trying to avoid exposure (this all started by a TeleClinic mandating I see someone in person because my symptoms necessitated an "in-person evaluation and diagnosis"), so leaving me in a room where numerous COVID patients were recently shedding for at least an hour each, felt like unnecessary risk to a non-COVID patient if evaluation was all to occur via phone anyway. During my visit, I also had a chest X-Ray due to chest pain, tightness and difficulty breathing; I was told I'd be given another mask, but they let me wear my personal, homemade mask. When all was said and done, I (an otherwise healthy patient, with asthma), was exposed the second-hand COVID germs for almost 90 minutes and was left to ensure my own sanitization for much of that time (mostly by avoiding touching anything). All in all, it was likely safer than shopping at Costco, and they had a lot of the right procedures in place, but I would prefer better enforcement and more safeguards and consideration be applied from the patient's perspective, and not just the clinic staff's perspectives. However, they were very kind and attentive, and I felt they truly did care about ensuring a correct diagnosis before I left their building.

This particular location doubles as an occupational medicine for workers comp and drug screening. For a tuesday morning, there were five people in the waiting room. The reception area folks were kind and pleasant. I had to wait around 40 minutes before being taken back. For an immediate care, I definitely wasn't expecting a shorter wait time. Once taken back, I was greeted with by a smiling nurse who took my vitals and put me in a room. Soon after, Melanie the APRN came in. She was so kind. She listened to all of my concerns and symptoms. Her exam was thorough. She diagnosed me with bronchitis. She then sked me about my preferences for medicine and sent me on my way with lots of informational handouts. This was a great visit. The immediate care is clean and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

There were 2 small waiting areas, decorated nicely. I filled out some paperwork, and was called back a few minutes later. I was there around 11:30 AM on a Tuesday and it didn't seem too busy. (I had called the day prior and they were very busy in the afternoon). The nurse that greeted me at the door was very sweet and personable, she took my information, blood pressure, temp, etc. and told me who would be seeing me. (I wish I had gotten her name, she was very sweet). A short while later I was seen by the Nurse Practitioner, Nancy Kern. She was equally sweet and personable, making small talk between checking me over and asking questions. She offered a lot of helpful tips along with describing the medication and what it was used for, and wished me well after she escorted me to check out. All in all, an A+ visit, especially for an Urgent Care center. Thank you!

Yea, the looks are pretty bare minimum on the outside. The waiting room is devoid of color, excitement, and basically everything (I was the only one in there for my short 10 minute wait). But that's the glory of it. I was in and out of this place in an hour! In fact within that hour time span I was already on the way to the pharmacy. So this place ruled. I saw a Nurse Practitioner who was able to easily identify my issue. Not gonna lie, I already identified my issue before being seen, which was some type sinus/ear infection. But she told me that after her assessment that was her suspicion and followed up with a "now let's see what your white blood cell count-- oh wow. Well with how good you look now, I wasn't expecting it to be THAT high." Let's face it. I'm a warrior. Anyways, this place got me in an out faster than any other. Plus it's across the street from work. No copay for me. They will charge you whatever your normal doctors office does. Haven't gotten the bill yet but I have a feeling it will be worth the prompt care I received.
