The Bird Room, The Lily Inn

Very pretty B&B, easy parking right outside, and a lovely, large room with twin beds (which are hard to find at B&B's!) that included a sitting area and private bathroom. Sanee was lovely and helpful, responding to our texts efficiently at night, as she doesn't stay on the premises. She also cooked us a hot breakfast the next morning. Our room was very comfortable, but extra blankets in the closet would be helpful as my sister felt cold during the night (no thermostat in the room).

Our stay at The Lily Inn was beyond amazing. My boyfriend and I stayed in the Lydia Richie room and very much enjoyed the plush bed and the whirlpool tub that my tall boyfriend could actually fit in! The proprietors, Murray and Gene, were very hospitable and great with conversation. Murray is very well versed in the history of the area and has plenty of interesting stories to share. It was very easy and I felt very comfortable asking for anything we needed. There were always m&ms in the kitchen and coffee and tea for any time of day. The best part? Breakfast, of course! Murray is a superior cook and though I sadly did not take the advice of the other reviewers as far as the French toast was concerned, I still found my breakfast to be delicious and filling. Rest assured, we will definitely return to The Lily Inn!

I was flying in for a family reunion and was looking for a hotel. The ratings were either average or farther away than I wanted to drive. That's when I found the Lily Inn. It was perfect. This is a historic house. It has some newer amenities like WiFi, televisions, air conditioning and some rooms have jacuzzi tubs. The rooms are all different. Gene was a wonderful host. Very attentive and gracious. She recommended places to visit and places to eat and drink at. When I return to this part of the country I will be sure to stay and visit with my friend Gene.

Tuna tartar- incl shallots and avocado and toast point in a perfect stacked combination with a light sauce accompaniment. Perfect. Subtle. 2nd course- 9 hour braised Short Rib. i'm the one that usually gets this although my husband did and I have to say it's some of the best short ribs I've ever put into my mouth. The polenta was cooked to perfection. I made a very loud yummy sound when I tasted his meal. I ordered the lamb 3 generous lollipop lamb chops and felt no shame as I gnawed at my bones. Temperature perfect, the sauce!!! and the carrots julienned with the best spice and maybe a pinch of brown sugar (tried guessing because it was so good, these were not carrots ! So much more. And a purple potato mash that was ... I mean everything was beyond our hopes. We chose the fresh fruit desert that had a very unusual combination, 2 of which I'd never had before. I'm now a convert. We were served by Tracy clearly and expert (warm but not making herself the focus) with Brady in training and already up to speed. Some things I noticed. When food came out the whole kitchen came out and served everybody at once! How refreshing to see that. All servers were attentive and paying attention to the entire room. No one felt unnoticed and forgotten. The wonderful woman behind the desk at the entryway, took us on a tour of the event space with complete joy and enthusiasm. She didn't seem put out at all in fact I wanted to just hang out with her for a while. So welcoming. The second we walked in the door everyone said hello to us as if they had known us for years! We just moved here. We had never been there in our lives. The property is perfectly maintained, makes quite a statement, and the new converted barn was my dream barn. My only regret is that I didn't get to meet all the sheep on the property. If any guests come to visit us in our new home in French Town, we're going to recommend they stay there in one of the cottages possibly or the in itself so that they can have the ultimate comfort and the elegance. They would expect in an overnight that I fear, our guest room will not lend itself to. I want to get married again so I can get married there! I want to eat there once a week! Gratitude to my niece who we asked for a recommendation of where we should eat for a nice meal to celebrate my husband, after a big achievement. She has lived here for three years and as a trained nutritionist and chef herself. She said the only place you should go is the Woolverton Inn and its New Restaurant. She will be receiving a gift! Lastly, I was so overwhelmed upon entering the restored barn that I forgot the name of the elegant man who received us with such grace. He's a gracious host and constantly circulated the room keeping an eye on the flow with light personnel suggestions ( potato soup with lobster next time! I promise) and birthday wishes for a large families grandmother. Go, enjoy, stay there, eat there, bring friends there! Bon apetite!

From what I understand, they recently renovated and added the restaurant to this historic building. You have to come and check it out for yourself. The food was incredible with big portions. I booked for kids spring break with spending time in pool. Well the pool was shut down for maintenance that afternoon unfortunately too late for me to cancel our stay. It stayed shutdown for 2 days. My kids were extremely upset as was I. I could've stayed home & spent the $$ on day trips instead. So I had to entertain them a different way with $$ I hadn't planned on spending. When the pool was finally reopened the bathroom in the pool area was(is) broken or under construction, whichever it's a grave inconvenience, there were no towels, the area was cold should've been heated. Another patron in the water was shedding excessively as she constantly jumped in the water spreading her clumps of hair throughout the pool. So my family & I were scooping hair out of the water and trying to keep away from our kids. Ohhhh. The 2nd room was checked in on the 8th and was absolutely filthy. The beds had to be changed twice, we had to clean the bathroom (always bring cleaning &disinfectant products with us), all surfaces wiped before we could settle my family in. But because of having to do our own cleaning the family that was supposed to be in that room, had to stay in my room for hours as we aired out the chemical smell after OCD cleaning fit. And the refrigerator had to be replaced. We were in a non-smoking hotel and all u smelled in the hallway 2nd fl was smoke. The patrons above us thought 12a-5a was jump off the bed & stomping time. The noise was horrible . This was supposed to be a relaxing week of swimming. Not what we experienced at all. Front desk personnel was like things happen ‍.
