Try it out!!
I recently moved from Imago Beauty to Lighthouse after a decade. I began hair coloring at Imago with Shana, the owner of Imago. I worked at 5 am and I would get home from my appointment with Shana just in time to either go straight to bed( without dinner) , or eat and have to go to bed with a full belly which is terrible sleep hygiene-- causing illness-- and not get to enjoy the beautiful hair at all. After work hair appointments didn't make sense.
She wasn't accepting weekend appointments ,she-said, so I was left optionless. She did not suggest another person at Imago. I saw later that she was seeing people on weekends, but never offered me that option or explanation for why SOME people got weekend appointments. I'm just not worthy... made me feel pretty bad. I'd apologize if I knew what I did to be that bad. I referred multiple people, one of which was awful and I feel bad about it but she only went once, to Meghan
I tried a couple random hairdressers( other places), but then ended up asking at" Imago" if any hairdressers already there wanted new clients. MEGHAN did. When she eventually asked, she seemed quietly distressed and disappointed that Shana had not even suggested that I try someone else at the salon. I didn't really understand it either. Is it me? I'm THAT bad? Shana also forced GROUPON on the stylists without asking them. Typically the redeemers tip poorly and don't return and get services for a bargain with the certificate. I use them( restaurants etc), but tip always on the " expected " full amount but I guess that's not standard .Main point is that she put the certificate on Groupon for discounted services but never asked if the stylists wanted to participate. Unfortunately that was not a "one off"-- even after the gals weighed in on it, unfavorably, she continued to do it. Although she'd said she couldn't accommodate clients on weekends, she bought a 2nd salon--- needing more time and energy. Spread thin, a move up for an owner but takes a lot of time and energy. I adored Meghan anyway but it was a bit of a sting . I saw her become a wife and mother, and she was an inspiration.
I know I'm not perfect, after being hurt gravely at work I changed. I became annoying I I believe. I'm regretful about my changes, and being incapable of functioning-working-interacting, I'm just a different person. I'm sorry, I really am. I'd eliminate myself if I could. I'm still a great tipper, gift-giver, and referral advocate.
With all that said, I don't think even I deserve what I got. I was quite flexible through COVID, no demanding needs except emergency medical. I made an appointment with Meghan, long time between---/ and I no longer drive due to my injuries. I arranged a ride. Five year old Twins were scheduled into this appointment. I showed up. On time. Gift in hand.
Meghan wasn't just "not there ",for the appointment, she didn't work there at all anymore. Excuses flew from everywhere. Not their fault. No responsibility. Shana was there. Expert excuses from her. Not her fault.
I'm nearly home bound now, don't drive, and a friend had to drag twin 5 year olds around.
So sorry I wasn't informed that Meghan was no longer there. Schedulicity is their online plan.
I can say now, months later, what really happened. Shana instructed multiple stylists that she didn't want them to send information about leaving Imago through Schedulisity , or a mass notice of departure to clients to let them know they were not at Imago anymore.
They may have felt differently about it but Shana had her own reasons that were not client focused. They followed her direction. I showed up for my appointment, on time, with a ride... twins and a friend in tow. I was the person who fell through the cracks. It could have been avoided.
Shana didn't want anyone informing people , didn't allow a general notice to folks... that they simply changed status and location. It was preferable that a few of us - not know - a staff change and appointments are canceled?
No empathy here. The possible worry ( whatever it is) outweighs the feelings and life considerations of the client.
Lighthouse was a breath of fresh air.
Literally. It is big and open. Fresh air, bright, positive energy and lots of businesses adjacent.
Meghan didn't even call me after this. I got Elizabeth from Imago, and she is very positive about Imago but left, for more positive and greener pastures.
It nerve racking to change places after a decade but I'm happy with the move.
I may not be perfect but I think I deserve better than I got.
Try lighthouse, the folks there are warm and accommodating
