We went on a random Wednesday around 4:30. No one else was in the place. The bartender was attentive and we like the atmosphere. It was a great stop for some pre-dinner drinks. We had the Long Island tea special. Online prices show $4, but in the bar the sign says $5.50. They need to update their website. The drinks were really good and the bartender made them from scratch. Not made from a mix that some other bars use. Served in a pretty good sized plastic glass. They do have food, but we didn't order anything. read more

We had a really great time at the Library. The drinks were perfect and the live band was pretty good. The bathrooms were super clean and had a nice comfy bench which was perfect if you needed to take a break from dancing ;) We came here in January so it was fairly chilly, but you forgot about how cold it was once you stepped outside on their patio with the heated lamps and the live band. With an attractive theme and a VERY large space, The Library certainly does not disappoint. This seemed to be 'the' bar in Downtown Cape, it got very crowded later on in the night! I was astounded by the sheer size of the bar. Upon entry, you get this very attractive speakeasy vibe with big cushiony leather couches and dark wood paneling. The bars are decorated like large bookshelves. One room has only couches and the next room has only tables and darts. I really loved the design and idea behind this place! The patio is massive. It starts with a huge wooden deck (watch you step), and continues to a sand volleyball court in the back. On the side there is a concrete lot where it looks like they occasionally host games/events, and on the other side of that is another patio/bar area. There was a lot of people out there but nothing was going on. My favorite part about The Library is the service. Exceptional is an understatement. They take their work very seriously! I never waited more than 10 seconds at either bar for a drink, and their hospitality was the best we experienced while visiting Cape Girardeau. Also $2 shots every night! read more

I have been going for Monday night trivia for a year. Drink specials are great, atmosphere is great and the food is really good and priced affordably. Honestly our favorite bar tender moved to another place but she would have our regular drinks to us, often before we even sat down. Best bar in Cape! read more

My husband and I came for our anniversary and they had the rudest bartenders and they made our drinks wrong about 3 times. It also looked like a bunch of the bartenders friends were there and they were pouring their drinks for no charge... over priced and 100% not worth anyone's time read more

So last night the owner refused to give me water for my clearly intoxicated friend until I showed her receipts that I've been buying from her. She said that water doesn't make her money. After I showed her my bank statement that had 3 transaction from The Library she said that I didn't spend enough and still refused to get me water and demanded that I tip her if she did. Several people noticed what was happening and said they didn't get asked that and was confused on why she wouldn't give me the water even after showing her I've been buying from her throughout the night. Someone even gave me my money back because they felt she was wrong and one of her employee's got me water when the owner went to go yell at a woman that went off on her for being rude to me. read more

The owner of this establishment has worked hard to provide Cape with a bar that welcomes all age groups. Older clientele usually frequent the bar during the evening hours while the university students arrive at night & close up the place. She also has some great local bands perform. Recently, she has added nicely decorated rooms for private parties. Another plus is outdoor seating in the back with a wide screen TV and a sand volleyball court. I only give it 4 stars as I have tried the bar food once and the hamburger I had was subpar. However, on Friday evenings she serves a buffet for $5 which is a real deal. read more

Thought it would be a fun place to hang with niece and friends when visiting area. Had a terrible rude experience with service and decided to leave after one drink. Went to close tab and left no tip, which I NEVER do, cause I love to tip service professionals nicely, being in the industry myself. Stupidly, I left tip area blank because I usually write "cash" and leave cash for tips. Came back to Colorado to find I was charged an extra $20 for tip that was written in! Tried to settle with business before writing bad review, to no avail. Have found out tonight on FB that this happens frequently there. Fill out receipt completely if you go! read more

If I could I would rate this place zero stars. The employees don't give a shit about service or they act like since it's a bar they don't have to get a shit about customer service. Tonight, 10 minutes before close, and a short worker with a unkept beard came up to me and a friend while we were drinking and rudely took our drinks and said "get out." It was 1:20, the place closes at 1:30 and last call was at 1:15. How does any of this make sense? You buy a drink, and have 5 minutes before it is stolen away even though you paid for it and should be able to drink it til 1:30am. Very unprofessional, just because he's miserable about his job decision doesn't mean he can take it out on the people they pay service to. I would not recommend this place to anyone, their beer selection is lacking, the service is okay, and some workers are just plain unpleasant. If your looking for somewhere to enjoy a drink pick any other bar. The aesthetic is there, but everything else isn't. They also serve minors which I'm not about someone underage being in the same bar as me. read more
