He was very knowledgeable and dealt with our group of rowdy individuals with professionalism. We made a whiskey sour (the best I have ever had), an old fashioned, and a version of an Irish coffee which was also the best ever! If you do a later tour, be sure to visit the shop beforehand because it'll be closed afterwards so that was a bit of a disappointment. I highly recommend the cocktail making class for sure! On the way, we had some bus trouble, which was unfortunate, but I will certainly not blame that on Irish Day Tours. In fact, I want to give them praise for the driver's attentiveness, making sure the passengers were safe, and the company being expedient in getting a new bus out to accommodate the rest of the tour. The Cliffs of Moher are one of the most beautiful sights I have ever laid my eyes on and we were blessed with great weather on this particular day. Sunny and not too windy (our visit was at the end of February but not sure how typical this is for that time of year). I believe we were allotted 1.5-2 hours at the Cliffs which we enjoyed every minute of. The stop in Doolin for lunch was charming and I was impressed with how quickly they were able to serve us. Unfortunately, we were not able to experience Galway on our tour due to the technical difficulties but I appreciate them being mindful of the schedule. I want to give particular praise to our driver and guide Kevin, who was absolutely fantastic in not only getting us there and back safely but is full of fascinating information on Ireland's history. He sang a song or 2 along the way but he couldn't answer any of the questions asked and barely spoke. He dropped us at stops going in blindly. He was an older gentleman, so I understand the low energy but perhaps time to hang up his hat. As first timers to Ireland, I chose the Dark Hedges/Giants Causeway/Belfast tour because I was infatuated by photos of the Dark Hedges I saw online. I had no idea it looked NOTHING like it. It was really a waste of a stop. Giants Causeway was nice.. great photo op. It's a long walk downhill, then back up. Luckily, there was a bus that operates both ways for £1 (tap cards accepted ). We heard there was opihi in Belfast and found some along the way (we're from Hawaii). Super windy that day so we were getting flown all over the rocks. Only stop on the tour that was worth it. Next stop, Belfast City Centre. The tour guy dropped us off near City Hall with absolutely no direction. He told us about a mall nearby, but that's it. Anything worth seeing was already closed. I really wished he would've gave us more recommendations about what to do, where to eat, or anything worth seeing in the short amount of time we had there. After walking around City Hall, we walked to the mall to use the bathroom, stopped at a souvenir shop, then headed back. Total waste of time, again. 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND! Sadiy, I purchased the tickets for this tour after the price had gone up about €10 from their 2025 prices. Tour was also supposed to end at 8pm but we got back by 7pm because he kept rushing us. Leaving early from stops. Felt rushed the whole time. I feel it was a total waste of money that could've been used elsewhere.

It's technically a free tour but you really should strongly tip your tour guide. They invest about two and a half hours educating and entertaining each group. We started our tour at City Hall and slowly worked our way around downtown. Lots of great tips and little extra bits of information were highlighted throughout our entire tour. Ciarin has a great sense of humor and was engaging. His willingness to have an interactive group made everything more interesting. I recommend taking the tour on the first or second day of your vacation so that you can double back and visit some of the suggested places.

What people need to understand is that these are walking tours that take you around to place were things happened and the guides are telling a story you are not always going to see or experience a ghost, they are stories, maybe you will get lucky and see something, but enjoy the experience, see some things you might not have seen on your own and take in the history of the city. I took the Celtic tour and had the most awesome experience. I'm not normally fond of organized tours since some of them don't give you a lot of freedom to explore the sites. However, Over the Top Tours was very good, and I'm glad I did it. Our tour guide, Paul was a very funny Irish man who believed in ghosts and nature spirits. He seemed to have the gift of gab and told us many interesting tales, legends, superstitions, and folklore. He played U2 and other Irish music while he drove us around the ancient and mystical monuments. Ireland is filled with them, and I visited a few surviving structures from the Stone Age and medieval times. One of the most recognizable megalithic structures is grass-covered mounds, which are 4000 to 5000 years old. Our first stop was the Valley of the Kings where the Fourknocks tomb is located. It's a green covered mound that looks like a hobbit home with a short passage leading into a chamber with three smaller offset chambers with stone carvings. There are three grass-covered mounds in this location, and only one is open to the public. Paul said the two represented the underworld and the present world, and the only one that was opened was four knocks, which represents the next world. Legends say that if you go to the mound and walk around clockwise, you could get a free pass to the next world. (So I did. hehe) He said it might not necessarily be heaven, but it could be the next dimension. Inside the passage, tombs are decorated with megalithic art such as concentric circles, spirals, zigzags, pyramids, and images. They have been interpreted as the moon, the, sun and the human face. Paul said that the Celts believed in reincarnation and the spirals symbolize the cycle of life. Most of their myths and legends deal with this journeying and movement through the experiences of life, death, and rebirth in the ever-changing directional flow of the spiral. The tour lasts a full day, so be prepared to do a lot of walking and exploring. I learned so much from this tour and will do it again. (Checkout my pictures)

I did the Glendalough and Wicklow Tour which exceeded my expectations in every way. Our tour guide Dennis was charming and lovely. His passion for his heritage and culture really shows and he was full of information. He really made the trip that much more special, and answered all our questions to the best of his knowledge and with a smile. The tour itself goes over the top of the mountain and you see several different kinds of scenery, from peat bogs, hillsides covered in gorse and heather, and lakes and natural sights along the way to Glendalough, which was incredibly beautiful and breath taking. There was plenty of time out of the van, and the small group really made the trip feel more personal and off the beaten track. John was very knowledgeable about the history of Ireland and told us many stories along our journey through Ireland. Not only was he very knowledgeable, but he was a hilarious story teller and we could tell he loves what he does. There is nothing better than having someone who is excited to share their love of history with people. He even took amazing photos of us whenever we wanted him to. If you are going on a tour, you HAVE to get John Todd! We had such a beautiful day at the Bunratty Castle. He made sure we were the first tour group at the castle so it was empty when we got there! We had plenty of time to explore, take photos, and learn about the history. Even better, it was a crystal clear day at the Cliffs of Moher! We got extremely lucky. It was truly a sight to see (you can't miss it if you come to Ireland). At the end of our tour, the trains were canceled due to problems on the railway. Our group was anxious about getting home, but John took care of us! He made sure we would be on a bus leaving at the same time as our schedule train to go back. There is nothing first class about these tours. They are standard day trip coach tours from various…read morelocations, to which you arrive after an hour or two or more in ordinary seats in ordinary carriages in an ordinary train. DO NOT BE DECEIVED BY THE FIRST CLASS PLUS appendages, even though you are certainly paying first class prices. If you are British, leave aside any idea of using this company now. We were subjected to several days of biased historical interpretations of Ireland's history in which the English (all of them seemingly) were the monsters- to put it politely. It seems we were worse than than the Israelis against the Palestinians, and we were like that everywhere we went. Thank you tour guide Brian for this welcoming first day speel, delivered with venom even though you knew you had two English guests in your company's overpriced tour. On the extended tours you are bussed to hub locations where day-trippers join you for that particular day, and more or less the same speel comes out the newcomers, even though the venom was later reduced when confronted and there was a sort of apology at the end of day three. Particular attention was drawn to the need to have cash available for gratuities! The country is lovely. The vast majority of the people are lovely and welcoming. We did the 7 day tour Deluxe Plus. It wasn't. It was an expensive way of being mostly bussed around in standard tourist coaches. There was I hope no charge for the nationalistic insults by the tour guide.

We had the delightful, educational, welcoming, fun packed experience to have Andreia Leal as our Tour Director. I won't this trip on a game show called Let's Make A Deal with Wayne Brady, so needless to say this was a once in a lifetime experience and opportunity for me. I was allowed to bring one person which was my teenage daughter Freddie Lynn and we paid for a third person, my Dad James to also come. After all, we would be spending Father's Day in Italy! Pretty amazing. From day 1 our tour was exquisitely planned and we were given full details of meet up times, daily activities and all we needed to know. We had a small group of 12 members so we felt comfortable and like a family straight away. Especially with Andreia giving us all the inside knowledge from her, not only being born in that area, but going back and being academically trained to get her degrees and exactly what she does. Our tour and time spent in Italy would not have been half of what it was without Andreia. She truly is a very special and kind human that I will treasure my time with her forever and wanted to let CIE Tours and its Management know what type of employees that they have in the field. Our driver Mr. Silvio was always on time and again, most careful with the bus and passengers. He was a nice and funny guy too. There were bees near the last farm we visited and he fearlessly battled them as we entered the bus as to not have any of the bees enter as well. It was funny, we were all safe and no bees ended up in the bus, thankfully. I cannot thank you enough for having employees such as Andreia Leal. She is professional, kind, funny and made our entire tour memories we will never forget. I have been HIGHLY encouraging everyone who has asked about my trip to book with you because as much as I can describe and show photos, it does no justice to actually being there and experiencing that much history in one area!
