Two different types of parent involvement are offered during the course of the school year, Co-Op or Non-Co-Op. The Non-Co-Op route is pretty much the standard drop your kids off and pick them up at the end of the day experience. This option costs a bit more. The Co-Op route involves helping the teacher of the class about once every 3 weeks on average. This option costs a bit less, but you gain an extra insight as to how your child is interacting in school and how they are developing throughout the year. An invaluable experience if you can afford the time commitments. The teaching staff here are wonderful and are obviously great with kids as evident by all the hugs they get when classes are finished. Afternoon preschool class time is filled with free play, directed art time, rug/circle time, singing, dancing, snack time, and playing. LOTS OF PLAYING! There is play time at the end of class either inside or outside depending on the weather. If the weather is nice, play time will be out on the playground behind the school. If the weather is less than cooperative, the children go downstairs to play in the basement that has been turned into an inside play space safe for little ones to play when their smiles are the biggest. Based on our family experience the Morris Plains Co-Op Playschool is a wonderful place to entrust your little one(s) to while they socialize, learn, and play for a few hours a week.

However, my worries went away immediately once we started the school year. I have always heard great things about this school and it makes sense why. From the start, we were given a very warm and welcoming introduction from the director. Ms. Rathjens, and assistant director Ms. Yun. Both are very involved with interacting with the kids and greeting them throughout the day. They are attentive and responsive, and my kids feel comfortable around them. My son's preschool teacher, Ms. Kellish, and the teacher assistants, Mrs. Morales and Mrs. Ikram, are caring, supportive, and organized. My son loves going to school and always shares how nice his teachers are to him. He has learned so much and has become more independent in class. They encourage him and it shows. My daughter's toddler room teacher, Mrs. Castano, and the teacher assistants, Ms. Ucles, Mrs. Millar, and Mrs. Charles, are all so patient, nurturing, and gentle. They have helped my daughter transition well to school and never hesitate to reach out in case of anything. I also love how they have food tasting every week. My daughter is constantly singing and dancing at home, and I know it's a result from her thriving at school. It feels relieving to know that my kids are in the best care and I don't have to watch the camera like a hawk to see how they are doing. Any time I check in, I see my kids are learning and playing, and are building their independence. The parent teacher communication and level of care are unmatched. The teachers really put forth effort into all that they do and I really appreciate it all. My only regret is not enrolling my son sooner for his first year of school. He has built friendships, developed so many skills, learnt to dance, work together and care for younger kids. This has been the best decision we made for him! Ms. Rasdell and Mr Wagner puts so much care and thoughtfulness in building the curriculum, making sure each child is getting the attention they need while also developing and focusing on their strengths. The school conducts so many events to give an opportunity for parents to network, for kids to develop new skills, have outdoor time, learn to work together and lead. I love the observation sessions and parent teacher conferences as well that gives us visibility into their day to day learning patterns and opportunities for growth! They are short staffed, teachers leave and quit because they don't have the support from their manager who keep accepting kids without being proper staffed. Teachers and manager have lack on knowledge on education or how to handle common issues in babies, they rather implement unrealistic "programs" setting them for failure and kick them out. The teachers don't promote creativity, don't read books on a regular basis, don't do activities (they started to do it only by parent's request for a few weeks, and went back to just sitting there without even interacting with babies). Teachers were caught on their cellphones numerous times, even though there are cameras. They only cover the basics: feeding, and changing diapers. Kids get hurt and injured because teachers are unable to manage toddlers.. Not the owner or the manager have any degree in education.

This emails also include pictures of the kids doing their daily activities. The emails are so detailed, I have used some of the activities that they outlined to reinforce what my son learned in school. Learning happens through exploration and the kids have so much fun. When the teachers get my son from my car at drop off, he is smiling ear to ear. He loves going to school. I was also particularly impressed on how they clean their tables and chairs before snacks and lunch. I was there to celebrate my sons birthday and the staff was exceptional to the kids. I was impressed by the facility which includes a yoga studio, indoor play room, and separate science and learning areas. It's in a super clean and new office complex, but once you walk in the facility you feel like you are in a little oasis. The furniture is all a cheery birch and the colors are serene so that the kids can focus on the many toys and activities. I was also pleased at the private and secure play area where the children have tons of room to run around. We will be excited to join as soon as I start my first job after taking time off to stay home with my son. I'm happy to have found such a terrific school!
