The Lawn, a former psychiatric hospital, is now a visitor attraction which (as well as housing a conference centre) There are some small shops including a kite maker and a cafe.
The Archeological museum is free and interesting with a life size Roan soldier at the door.Some archeology was done on the lawns of the lawn and finds reburied for future generations as is not beginning to be accepted.
Wonderful is the Sir Joseph Banks Conservatory, a free-to-enter hothouse with exhibits which Banks brought back from his travels with Captain Cook.
Winter it is a steamy jungle to escape to and summer it is just fun and interesting. carp in the streams under little bridges and exotic plants and trees. A little bit of jungle in UK.

While The Lawn is currently a popular drinking venue, it
was once one of the first mental asylums in the UK - former inmates are still
said to reside in the building, wailing and screaming. read more
