I didn't realise you could review a whole village... but as this is my hometown I reckon I'm well placed to do it if that's what the kids are doing these days.
Woodhall Spa, or 'the Spa', is lush. People stop here on their way to Skegness or Lincoln, or they come for the golf - it's home to the English Golf Union and boasts two courses: the Hotchkin and the Bracken. There are two campsites (Jubilee Park and Bainland Park), both with swimming pools, and plenty of B&Bs, guesthouses and hotels. There's a handful of pubs and bars, and a cracking chinese - the Golden Dragon.
Holidaymakers might take a trip to the Cottage Museum, or visit the Kinema in the Woods (if you go on a Saturday you'll see the man-on-the-organ rise out the stage during the interval). There are tearooms a plenty and even a bakery/delicatessen, run by my 'other mum'.
There are petrol stations at either end of the village but they're not cheap so fill up in one of the towns such as Boston, Horncastle or Lincoln beforehand.
As Templar points out, the Dambusters were based in Woodhall, at what is now the Petwood Hotel, on Stixwould Road. There's plenty of RAF memorabilia in the hotel and even a prototype Bouncing Bomb in the car park - worth a looksee.
Oh lord I'm homesick now. I love Woodhall. read more
