Awesome cocktails and great service. By far the best place in Weybridge to go for a late night drink

Friendly people, good variety of beer and food…read more The fish and chips were good but a bit greasy for my taste...maybe that is the way people like it in the UK. I am used to a much less greasy and lighter fried variety in the US. But overall an enjoyable dinner with colleagues.

While I've visited here a few times I haven't taken the time for a review until now. Last night we went for the traditional Sunday roast, there were three of us and we each selected something different, the chicken, lamb, and beef to try. I also chose to start with a liver and bacon salad as it's not something you see often. The salad was sublime. A perfect mixture of flavors that balanced the saltiness of the meats with a subtle sweetness and crunch from the vegetables. I don't often order liver but if you like it this salad is worth the trip. The roasts themselves were delicious and the gravy was excellent. I can't say I liked the stuffing (much different from the American versions of the same name - more of a cornbread like texture), but the meats were well done and flavorful. The vegetables were good and overall an excellent dinner topped off with some great desserts (brownie and an ice cream sundae). I'm not a drinker so can't comment on the beers, but I can call out the juices they have. They carry Frobisher's, which may or may not be common, but not anything I've had in the US. The Apple-Mango and Orange-Passionfruit juices I had were delicious and worth a try. Particularly the Apple-Mango.

A year or so ago, I wouldn't have even been caught drinking at this pub, even if it was just to run…read morein and use the loo. You know how every town always has a popular pub, a slightly poncy pub, and a rough as old dogs pub? Well, this was the latter. The decor was all dark swirly carpets, whilst dodgy blokes leaning up against the bar made you want to keep walking. A couple of weeks ago I heard my friends saying that they were drinking down the Poyntz. Surely some mistake? Then I was taken a couple of weeks and guess what? It's gone all trendy. Ah, lifestyle programmes and Sarah Beany, you have so much influence in the world. I know its pretty formulaic to have stripped wood floors and bashed up leather sofas, but I think it seems to work. In this superficial world, even the old Poyntz has had a makeover, and surprisingly, doesn't look like mutton dressed as lamb. There is a pool table at the back, and a beer garden to be enjoyed when the weather is nice. The barman even told me that on their new menu they do cocktails. Who would have thought it?

The inside looked pretty well kept up and clean. Would recommend. Next time maybe I'll try the food.

Great bands ant the weekend. Amazing beers in this eccentric pub. A wonderful community quiz night…read moreon a Thursday. Well worth a visit.

I could pretty much write the same that 'willyum1950' has written as I totally agree with…read moreeverything he has said (apart from I don't live in Addlestone but do live about 2 miles from this pub). This pub is a FANTASTIC pub everything a pub should be. The Barley Mow has many, many regulars and that shows what a fantastic pub this is. The regulars are all very friendly and 'newcomers' are made to feel very welcome. It's dog friendly too and there's lots of regular dogs that enjoy the attention that they always get too. The ale served here is served how it should be. The barrels are looked after and kept at the right temperature in the cellar the pipes are kept clean and all of this makes for a delicious ale. One would think this sounds easy but so many pubs get this wrong the Barley Mow isn't one of them. They frequently rotate the ale and the guest ales are a plenty. Summer lightning and Twickenham ales are regulars I believe. They also sell 'proper' cider but as this isn't my thing, I can't comment on how good it is. John, the landlord, is a friendly, happy guy and clearly enjoys what he does and he does it exceptionally well. This pub continues to win Camra awards year after year and quite rightly so. The live music (Friday/Saturday) is great and everyone joins in. Haven't yet been on a Wednesday but I'm sure it's just as great. Weekend daytimes are great too. It's a perfect place for a pint and reading the newspapers. I have never been to this pub and not enjoyed myself. No beer 'garden' as such but there is an outdoor space with tables/benches that probably seat 50 or so people easily. There's also a car park out the back and plenty of parking out the front. It's a very eclectic place both inside and out (there's a dinosaur outside and loads of lovely odds and ends inside). I'm pretty sure that they offer free wi-fi now too but don't quote me on that. Have been going here for about 5 years now and have no intention of stopping. Will continue to support this fantastic 'local' for as long as I can. Thanks to John and the rest of the staff for running such a great pub. The website has been updated so more info on there http://www.themow.co.uk/ SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL PUB!
