The menu had a beef, lamb, pasta, fish, and vegetarian choice, as well as the classic pub fish & chips, mixed grill, selection of hamburgers, etc. Prices were reasonable -- approaching the top of what I'd pay for a casual (but decent) bite to eat. But the quality of the food (and beer) more than justifies that. The dishes were really well presented, hot, fresh and delicious. If I had to nitpick, I wish I'd had a few more vegetables/salad. Portion sizes were good -- I wasn't left hungry -- but a few more veggies would have been nice. It was a memorable experience. Really excellent food and beer.

They have a range of great bands which preform on a Friday night, playing some real classics. Great to get you in the mood and up on the dancefloor. It tends to get very busy late on at weekends (sometimes with queues), but that just adds to the atmosphere. An advantage is the size of the bar, which almost spans the length of the pub, so you don't spend hours queing to get served, and the staff are very freindly and efficient too. Highly recommended.

The pub itself is well decorated, but is a bit dark as the lighting isn't very good, and looks a bit scummy in places (particularly the ladies loos!). It tends to be quite packed up till 9.30-10pm on a friday or saturday and then it empties quickly (presumably as people head to the more expensive pubs that are open later!).

So I got the spinach, lentil and quinoa burger on a sourdough bun sans chips, for £11. The waitress asked if I wanted anything on top and I said no, deeply regretting my decision when the burger arrived. It was so dry, despite the little bits of chili sauce bits atop the burger, and completely tasteless. The bun had a fine dusting of flour atop that sprinkled everywhere. Dense and chewy bun but still lacking flavour. A few greens were sprinkled on the side. The venue is pretty cool with an ornate stage and gold lamé curtains, and red leather sofas, so I would give more stars if just for the venue. But I can't get over that sad, sad burger. There's also a vegan stew on the menu but with no description of what it is, I wouldn't trust it either. Dog-friendly so that's a plus!

I was entering an Australian/Polish suburbia of what initially looked drastically lacking in nightlife, character and atmosphere. I eventually made it to the high street and things looked a little livelier. My destination was the Chatsworth bar. Outside was littered with young gents dressed in t-shirt, jeans, and they were all smoking like troopers. On entering the establishment, I noted that the bar was dominated with Aussie's. This didn't bother me in the slightest as our friends from down under tend to know how to party. The atmosphere was jovial and the DJ was spinning some classics house hits that soon had the small dance floor bouncing. A mixture of well-dressed ladies to those that were casually adorned, danced flirtatiously with guys who for the most part didn't dress to impress. The real bonus in the Chatsworth is the cheap drink. A good Havana Especial rum and coke came to £3, whilst a 25ml shot of tequila was only £2.50. Bargain! The décor is simple and clean whilst the well stocked bar is served by very efficient bar staff. If you want to find a quiet spot for a smooch, behind the bar is a large conservatoire with long tables, and darkened surroundings. Here because of a friends leaving party on the Friday, I was told on good authority that the place was rammed to the rafters on a Saturday and a much better night. Saturday nights must be indeed special as the Friday atmosphere was impressive.
