After being seated we had to wait 25 minutes for order to be taken ,then another 37 before it arrived, then it was incorrect. The main served to another table. This is a large pub and eaterie on the banks of the Thames, close to the locks at Shepperton. It is a perfect location, and it knows it: there is a terrace at the front with lovely views of the river, boats and swanky waterside houses, which gets packed in good weather. On my recent visit, it was so busy there was a queue - orderly but 8 people long - to get to the bar. We'd booked a table, so ordered our drinks with the food. The food and wine were perfectly OK, good pub grub, and we didn't have to wait long considering how busy it was (we were warned it might take half an hour but took half that). Service was a tale of two halves: an older waitress unceremoniously plonked down our glasses with the ice bucket and bottle. She didn't even open the bottle and pour the wine, let alone let us taste it, before walking off. The younger food waitress was, in contrast, a gem: she made knowledgeable recommendations on what to choose from the menu, and was absolutely charming throughout. So she got the tip at the end of it all. I'd go back as it such a great spot, but hope for slightly better service throughout next time, which would up it to four stars. read more

So I decided to come here as I hadn't been here for a good 10+ years and I have to say the location is beautiful, right by the river over looking the Thames. Unfortuanlty this is it's downfall as on a nice day like the day we visited (Sat 8th June) the outside terrace was packed. I ordered a burger and my gf had BBQ chicken, the burger was no the best it looked like it had just been dumped in the frier along with the bacon and the cheese had just been melted under the heater bulbs. It kinda tasted over herbed and burnt, kinda like that burnt BBQ taste which was weird as it was greasy like it had been fried if that makes sense, I'm just guessing it was the bacon taste leaking through that or the smoked cheese. The BBQ Chicken was basically a bit of roast chicken leg with BBQ sauce squirted over it and was dry and tough and had a salad bowl on the side. The chips look like they had been sitting about and were refried and had the burnt dark yellow tint to them. They were lacking staff to the point we were old they had stopped table service so I had to go to tthe bar and wait 20 mins to get served due to only two staff and then wait 45 minutes for food. Good points: Location, Views and parking. Bad points: Everything else. read more

I LOVE this pub! Having frequented in my younger days I have recently re-discovered Thames Court and love it just as much but for different reasons. Set on the banks of the River Thames, the pub has good outdoor space as well as a roomy and comfortable interior. The food is fantastic - excellent quality and very good value and the steak sandwich with onions is heavenly. Another venue that is a great place to start or finish a walk - either to build up an appetite or walk off your meal - but beware it does get very busy at the weekends on a nice summers day so arrive early to get your table. We have Ben to this pub so many times. On a hot summers day, there's probably no better place to have a drink, meal and watch the boats entering ad exiting Shepperton Lock. Although its only your average British pub food, I have never had a bad meal here. Once you have finished your food and drink, there are very nice walks along the Thames. read more

So disappointing :-( After taking my partner to The Minnow, after getting lost getting to the Thames Court. We decided to venture back to Shepperton to find the restaurant, and with great expectations we were anticipating a really good meal. It was a lovely day and although we could not getting seating outside we managed to get a window seat overlooking the river. Unfortunately that is where the enjoyment ended. We ordered our food:- tandoori chix skewers £5.25, was SO over done (reheated) that a hack saw would have struggled to cut through it. tempura prawns £4.25, I love prawns that when i took a bite from one i was really upset nearly in tears that i killed the poor thing...it was that under cooked! we sent the dish back and they only reheated them and had the audacity to serve it to us stating that it was a fresh batch....fresh batch my backside, you could have bounced the prawns of the wall. scampi & chips £6,95, not much to say you get what you pay for. A place like the Thames Court you would think they would put their own mark on the dish, but no you get 6 dried up scampi and some pretty nice chips and a hand full of nuked pea's VERY disappointing! 9oz rib eye steak £11.95, No comment....Ok just one. Asked for Rare, got Well Done steak. and we each had a large glass of pino we did in the end get the Prawns taken off the final bill after complaining to the manager, but the day had already been spoiled because of the food. Dont get me wrong even though i have just slated the food, I have been there many time B4 and have never had that slandered of food. I will have to put it down to o "ONE OFF" it was a very busy day (Saturday 13.30) and although they did not say it, I'm sure they were well under staffed. Will I venture there again? Surprisingly I would have to say.....YES. It is a stunning place with a great atmosphere and great views watching the Boats going by, time really flys by. What to say... Revisiting my youth. A great authentic pub goes "chain". Great location. Horrible service. Average food.

So I go here regularly for a drink with friends which doesn't usually disappoint. So over Xmas we decided to go for a meal. The service is okay, I can't complain too much there, but the food standards are slipping. The plates and cutlery were also dirty and greasy. I could feel a crusty consistency under the rim of my plate which was rather disgusting! As I say, the quality of the food isn't great, but I think that is fairly reflected in the price. read more

I haven't been to this idyllic pub since the 80's, back then it was the trendy place to go and look beautiful. I had forgotten just how pretty the location is with the pub sitting on the River Thames and a lock just short steps away. You have to get there early to find a table even though there are plenty it is a popular place with the yummy mummies. I wasn't that hungry so I went for the pear and Stilton salad starter which was enjoyable. They have a lite bites menu until 5pm mid week, 3 courses only £9.50, great value. My friend had the butchers choice sausages and mash, they did not have the Pimms Eaton Mess as they were very busy. We had to wait for 50 minutes for our food which was unacceptable so I did speak to the Manager. Without any hesitation the Manager apologised for the length of time it was taking to get the food orders out. Indeed I heard other customers complaining also. Without quibble the Manager refunded the cost of our meal. It was such a shame after all this time of not frequenting this place to have a poor experience with the food order. That aside I will give this place a second chance following the Managers customer service and the old memories of how good this place was. Let's see if new memories can be made in the 00's. A lunch date with colleagues, great bar service. We were warned that it was a new menu and our food could take up to an hour. Over an hour and a half and 2 complaints later we finally received our food with no apology. Food was lovely when it finally arrived but certainly won't be rushing back! read more

Love this place when the sun shines. Great for spending a sunny afternoon drinking beer or wine in the sunshine and having a bite to eat. Also good on a cold winter's day having a roast dinner in the warm. Great place to sit and watch the world go by on the river. read more
