The Laundry Tub

You know how when you get into a good relationship after leaving a terrible one, you realise it's…read morenot you, it's them? That's how I felt about Harbord Coinwash after the disaster that was my old laundromat. It sounds like a basic concept, washers that work and wash your clothes, and dryers that actually dry your clothes, not to a ton of laundromat in Toronto sadly. They had a variety of different sized laundry machines and front loading machines. Not to mention that the price changes based on the level of soiling and heat of the water, which is much appreciated. A cold wash in a front loading machine? My wallet and Mother Earth thanks you. The dryers are some of the most reasonably priced dryers that actually work. In addition to effective washers and dryers, the owner clearly has put some love into the decor of the place, making me feel comfortable chilling out while waiting for my laundry to dry. This is as opposed to some of the much dirtier, never been cleaned before places around. While this place is a little further from me than many many other laundromat, I think the walk is worth it, not only am I satisfied with everything, I'd rather give my money to someone who appreciates their customers.

Big rip off in that some machines don't even work!…read more Money is pushed in and so there's no way to get it back as there is no one working there so there's no way that should happen - they should have a sign on the machine that isn't working = money grab. This happened with both a dryer and with a washing machine. Not only sucks to lose money but then the hassle of having to move all your laundry to another machine - especially as I was using powder detergent that night. Won't be going back.

A sign of the times?…read more Now I'm a wash 'n wear sort of guy so Cadet Cleaners has a very weak commercial relationship with me. This morning on my way into Michael-Angelo's for this weekend's comestibles I noticed a big sign in the window of Cadet proclaiming that they will provide free dry cleaning to the unemployed who need clean duds for an interview, not an inconsiderable amount considering the price of getting an outfit cleaned these days. That's just another reason why this little plaza gets so much of my business, its people with community spirit and marketing savvy.

Also to Frank's point below, this is the only Cadet franchise in the country that offers free dry cleaning services to unemployed people with interview schedule. It was out of the owner's awesome initiative to support the community during the economic downturn. Highly recommend going here. Friendly, fast, and terrific alteration/cleaning services.

It's a mom and pop shop, which I am always eager to support, and the customer service was great. Really friendly, knowledgable and accomodating. Their prices are low, and they have specials if you bring in full suits rather than pieces. The owner has also recognized me from coming in every few weeks and is so nice. I brought a jacket in to get the sleeves shortened and she gave me a "special price" (I wanted to keep a buckle on the sleeve but didn't want to pay too much). They obviously treat their repeat customers well. The service is fast. They do same day work. Their hours are great - open early, late and weekends. They do a great job and I would highly recommend them. They do shoe repairs too, which I haven't tried yet.

When I did the dress was not in with the other dry cleaning. The male owner, hung the dress and went to cash me out. Something seemed off. I asked him to remove the plastic and the dress was RUINED. He was rude and told me he would fix it. I said, no, I will take it somewhere to see if it was fixable and he can compensate me for the damage. He refused. I will be taking this further as the owner lied about damage, then said not his fault its the manufacturer and refused to even apologize. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE.
