Super busy when I went. First time using a card system but the guy (didn't catch his name) was cheerful and glad to be of assistance. He showed me how to do everything with kindness and patience. This place was one of the cleanest laundromats I have ever seen. Loved the plants and the area for kids and having a place to sit. I had a very good experience at The Laundromat. Having not been in before I needed a card to operate the machines. The attendant helped me get my card and even showed me how to use it with one their washing machines. The attendant was very friendly and helpful. The business was clean, including their restroom. I left the laundromat with clean laundry having had an all-around good experience. I did bring cash for the card machine. This would be a 5 star if not for just one thing. Now, don't let this deter you much as it's more of a bother or work around. I have read past reviews and while I was there by 2 people that the dryers either have operating issues or don't dry very well. They should and do need to upgrade or fix those. Remember, the more room clothes have to tumble the faster they dry, use smaller loads. Also, by utilizing a top dryer over a running lower one utilizes the rising heat so put your thicker/bigger items on top. Now for the rest...this place is awesome!! It's the cleanest, friendliest, most comfortable laundromat I've ever visited! Oddly enough, I was kinda wishing my laundry would take a little longer so I had an excuse to linger. "The Linger Longer Laundtomat"? There are live plants everywhere, and healthy too! The decor is cute, comfortable non-crowded seating, plenty of long folding areas, snacks available for purchase, tv, community posting board, vintage arcade game table, children's play area, wi-fi, take-a-book/leave-a-book, and a free pile. If you forgot any laundry products you can purchase them right there too. It is located right across the street from Wal-Mart so that's also a convenient option as well. The machines are even more heavy duty commercial grade than I've typically encountered as they REQUIRE you to pack them full to work efficiently so go ahead and send the hubby as he can't go wrong! Seriously though, I was skeptic but I did it and there was still room for the water to really swish them around and they get super clean. The wash cycle takes about 21 minutes. DO bring actual cash, bills not change. Not because it's expensive but because they use a card system you load funds onto using a machine and then you simply use that card in the machines. If you are having a hard time deciding how much to put on it for your amount of laundry, the attendant can help with that to minimize any credit left on it. Although, the card is reloadable and never expires. I spent roughly HALF doing laundry here versus other places. I had been doing my laundry here over a year and no issues just your average laundromat. (Average cost to do it yourself is $15-$20 depending on how much you have) However this year (2022) has been the worst. A month ago one of the loads I washed was stolen and when I called about it they were very smug and I was just inquiring (not upset at them because things happen), but the attitude was just "oh well you're screwed " The service is lousy and rude and I have little kids and no way to do the laundry myself so I recently tried their special service where they wash the clothes for you for a fee. They charged me $83 for the equivalent of 1 1/2 loads of clothes and a few blankets and some of it was damaged and even missing items! I just about fainted at the price and angry my laundry was not treated properly. Find somewhere else to do your laundry or just be sure not to leave it unattended if you do it yourself! read more

Traveling in the area, we opted to stop here to catch up on laundry. First, I love that they make the place comfortable to stay - a play area for the kids, reading area, conversation area. It is staffed and the two ladies there were super helpful for a first timer. A cash-only venue, you purchase a card to use in the machines. A few of the machines were a little temperamental, but otherwise easy to operate. They did have about 1/4th of their machines out of order, but still no wait even though they were busy. People here are friendly- people held doors for me, chatted while we were folding clothes, and giving tips. Nice! Oh, and they offered to refund the balance on my card, since I wouldn't be back in this area. Kudos! read more

Nearly 10 dollars for big machine. 3.75 for double load machine. .40 cents per 10 minutes on dryers. CONS: 1. Card readers on 4 different machines couldn't read cards without "tricks" ! I had to get help four there times after moving my laundry from machine to machine. Locals know the "tricks" to get it to read their card. Frustrating if you're not a local who visits here frequently and knows the finicky card reader tricks. Minus two stars! BTW, 2 locals sympathized and said you eventually learn which ones will give you more trouble than others...so ITS NOT JUST ME. 2. Not having a card reader that accepts other forms of payment Minus 1 star. 3. Minor issue: Walkways at back of laundry are narrow and if anyone is in the way, you wait or go around. 4. One dryer would get hot but then cool down way before it should. Spent 60 minutes for a light load and was still damp. We left and hung it out to dry at home. 5. Another local was overheard on his cell phone complaining about the dryers not heating well PROS: clean, nice attendant!! Washers washed well after fighting with card readers. Machines that I had trouble with: # 9, 15, 30, 32 This laundry has potential if owners would reinvest in new card readers and properly working machines. Many machines had 'out of order' blue tape or 'hot only', etc. I get the feeling that the owners are not interested in reinvesting in proper maintenance. Very busy laundromat so they have the capability. We will not return to this conveniently located laundromat. read more

Overall, a pleasant experience at the Laundrymat in Ponderay. This is the best laundromat in the Panhandle. People come from up to and hour away to do their laundry there. The facility is regularly cleaned and the bathroom is spotless. The machines work about 70 percent of the time (if you know how to work around the quirks of each machine). I like that there's an attendant to help with the faulty card readers and other equipment malfunctions. They have a great kids play and waiting area with snacks for sale while you wait. None of the staff are going to earn Ms. Congeniality awards. But what can you expect for staff paid at minimum wage? It would be a 5 star review if the owner / manager would hire less sketchy staff. Some of the staff bark at the patrons and run around the facility vaping all day. read more

Most of the staff is very friendly and helpful, I found it a little spendy to do laundry but it has been years since I have had to use a landry mat so I may be wrong lol. Free WiFi while you wait with a cute little sitting area. Plenty of space to fold your clothes. If you have little kids they have a great little corner for the kids to play with lots of toys. The place is nice and clean. The only reason for my 4-star review and not a 5 is there were lots of broken machines and the very grumpy attendant the last night we used the facility. If you thought the laundry in Sandpoint sucks, it is golden compared to these guys. Lots of washers but maybe ten working dryers at any one time. Be prepared to do laundry for three or four hours, twenty minutes to wash, two hours or more to wait for an available dyer on a good day, three hours or more when they are busy, then another half hour (if you are lucky enough to get a working dryer) waiting for your clothes to dry. This laundry used to be pretty good but now the owners have just given up on maintainence. read more

This is probably my favorite laundromat. There is Wifi Password on the wall, large clean machines and a wonderful and very helpful attendant. There is well over 20 great kids toys in a kids corner that my 3 year old absolutely loved. With an oversized bear and lots of books to read. There is an outlet where my husband and my 10 year old were working and playing on tablets while I was sitting in one of 3 comfy chairs. The triple load washers were quick and large and cost $6.00 to do a triple load and dry. There is snacks and inexpensive soap to purchase. There is a lot of pride in this business and it definitely shows. read more

Exceptionally clean facility with friendly staff who are laundry experts! Extra large washing machine is a bit pricey, but I was able to wash a weeks worth of towels in one cycle. We waited in the laundry mat while our clothes washed and dried, and an older male employee ensured our comfort. Who knew that wash day could be so pleasant! Our family has been living on the road for the past 6 months, we frequent laundromats...visiting at least once/week. We've been to dozens during that time, this laundromat has been my most favorite so far! It's very clean, the staff is helpful, they have a free book table, but my favorite thing has been that my laundry actually smells and feels clean afterward! I've found that in some laundromats, the water and washers have a funky smell and the dryers often leave your clothes smelling like burnt plastic. I have been going to this laundromat for over a year and was very happy with the place until today (10/03/18). The man in charge of the place started playing a parody song called "Build the Wall" sung to the tune of the Immigrant Song by Led Zepplin laughing and telling his friend how funny it was and how great Donald Trump is. To the boyfriend/husband of one of the employees at the Ponderay Laundromat... This afternoon I cried all the way into town because I was missing time with my family in needing to go back to town to do our laundry once again. It's a 25 minute drive because I live outside of town. And my family of five has been living in a small camper for a month now. We sold our house and moved onto vacant land that's just excavated dirt because we are planning on building a shop to move into before winter. I have to do so much laundry that I've spent well over $100 in just a few weeks at the Ponderay Laundromat. I have three kids that are all under six and every time we all have to come in together ive tried my best to make sure that they clean up every toy that they play with. I've also found every employee I've came into contact there to be extremely kind and helpful. The afternoon of (08/23/18) apparently you were in charge of the laundromat since "your lady was taking your sick kids to the doctor", as you said. I walked up and asked for your help with a machine that wasn't taking my card, (my two-year-old was asleep in my car by himself and I was in a hurry to get back to him) and you wouldn't even make eye contact with me. You were too busy playing a game on your phone and told me to wait. Then, you didn't look up at me once as you walked with your phone an inch from your face all the way to the machine that was causing me trouble. You stopped halfway to the machine and said "hold on I'm just really into this" and laughed. You seemed to find it funny that you were continuing to put me off to play a game on your phone instead of help me. You finally put my card through the slot and I started my machine and then I told you that I would be praying for your kids who were being taken to the doctor. I walked back in 25 minutes later, but this time my grumpy two-year-old was crying as I held him on my hip. I struggled to transfer all my clothes out of an eight-load washer and distribute them into two different dryer's so that they could be done quicker. I came back 40 minutes later to pick them up, and it was 825 pm. The laundromats website says that they close at 9 PM. And not only that, but I was told by a laundromat employee the other day that they wait until everyone picks up their clothes before they close up. I locked my two-year-old in the car once again, in a hurry, and as I walked through the front doors you yelled "we're closed!" loudly at me. You were not closed, you close at 9 PM. I replied, "I have to get my clothes." and I walked quickly to the back to transfer my two dryer loads into two hampers. A few seconds later your wife or girlfriend said that she needed to sweep before closing, as you exclaimed "NO you don't!" Followed by "you're done!" Which was then followed by, very loudly, "so get these fuckers out of here!!!!" Once again, I felt like I was going to start crying as I quickly and now frighteningly, tried to pull both my two heavy hampers to the door. And... you continued to spout off the F-word over and over again loudly for everyone to hear (including little kids that were sitting watching television nearby) to express your anger for staying at the laundromat past 830. Even though, the laundromat closes at 9 PM. Well, guess what? I did pray for your kids, and as I was walking up to the front doors *before you acted so inappropriately* I was wondering if they were feeling better as I looked in the windows and saw a couple little kids sitting on the chairs and watching television. I will not be coming back to do my laundry here ever again and I hope that many people read this and it makes you think about how you treated me and the other people that were walking through the doors trying to pick up their laundry as well. read more

I was there last night,usually very clean place and helpful staff however last night I was ignored by lady who was on duty faculty was not as clean as usual.I was there for about 2 hours,I do love children and know they can be loud but a the young child of attendant ran around screaming at the top of his lungs,no supervision he also with intent ran full force into my handicapped wife! We usually use the "fluff and fold" full service aspect of this wonderful laundromat, and it is exceptional service. The next day our laundry comes back, not only clean, but meticulously folded. If we have smaller loads we have used the washers/dryers, and enjoy how clean the establishment is, the free wi-fi, and the overall friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. We live in Hope, and it's almost the same distance to the laundromat in Bonners Ferry, but we prefer this one for reasons above: clean, very modern machines, and friendly staff. I actually live closer to Bonners Ferry, but prefer to come to this laundromat. It is always clean and the staff are helpful and courteous, even though there are always machines that are broken. They usually have a special on Tuesdays where the smaller washers are priced at a nice savings. I work nights but am willing to get up in the middle of my sleep time to save money. Sadly for the past two months that special, though advertised on their window, was not working. I lost sleep and savings and I have begun questioning is it worth it to keep coming here. The place is always clean, including the bathroom, and is very family friendly. They sell drinks, snacks and laundry supplies at fair prices. There is a "free stuff" bin for gently used items, and on some weekday mornings they offer discounts on the washer costs. They use a modern card system you load cash onto for the machines, so no need to drag coins with you unless you want to play the Pacman game or buy a gumball.
