I've been working with Desean Terry for nearly 10 years! He and his studio's techniques are pretty much my go-to. You'll actually feel like an artist here, rather than being taught to "hit certain beats" (a technique other studios rely on, which makes auditions feel transactional and totally un-creative). Because of the depth of exploration and conversation in scene study, you'll actually get to know your classmates, which creates community. The level of conversation and self-reflection during class is high. And perhaps most importantly, I feel grateful to have met good friends here. This is a fantastic space for artistry, self-discovery, and vulnerability! read more

Have been taking class here for 3 years now and love it! I've felt myself level up as an actor and artist. LAS is a great choice for actors that are looking to work on getting more involved (physically, mentally, spiritually) in the process, digging deeper, exploring nonlinear ways of building a scene, & just raising the ceiling on their work. Class here is amazing. Desean is the type of coach who will always treat you with respect, empathy & care while pushing you along the path of discovering your own greatness. Its not the type of class where u can learn something & coast. If you're open, you'll have moments where you crash and burn in a safe space (just real excruciating embarrassment) & also moments of genius & brilliance. Sometimes we have snacks. read more

The training is excellent people are kind, the atmosphere is conducive to learning. The material is very effective for learning Acting. Patrick and Desean are amazing teachers and Gaby is so kind and helpful! I highly recommend and been blessed being in these courses. read more

Honestly one of the best acting studios in not just Los Angeles but I would say in the entire country. I have been lucky enough to be a part of dozens of classes and studios across Los Angeles, New York, DC and Atlanta. And The Last Acting Studio's professionalism, creativity and attention to each individual actor's process and differences is what really sets them apart. They take the time and effort to get to know you which results in highly curated and specific coaching based on who you are. It's not one size fits all, it's truly a studio that helps you build your own form of the craft. read more

Studying at Last Acting Studio on and off since 2024 has reaffirmed my love for the craft and in many ways my sense of self. Desean is a teacher that speaks so much to each individual actor instead of an umbrella thesis applied to the entire classroom. There are techniques, focuses and skills that he implements throughout your time in the studio, but he always manages to meet you where you're at and hone in on how to elevate you to a higher level of play that suits how you perform/live. It's more personal than many studios I've studied at. He really cares about each student. My Monday class has always been a space that feels safe, supportive and (most importantly for me) fun. The community element of LAS makes it a space that allows you to thrive, to fail, to figure things out without fear of judgement - it's a room of your creative friends excited to see what you bring to the table. Whatever level of acting experience you have, there will be a class for you here. And the price point is incredibly fair for what you get. Can't recommend LAS enough! read more

"I wish I found LAS sooner" is something I've heard many times from actors, and after joining LAS myself, I wholeheartedly agree. Desean works to build autonomous artists. There are many acting studios in Los Angeles that create toxic co-dependent relationships, ones in which the student feels dependent on the teacher/coach. Because of LAS, I've rediscovered confidence & playfulness in my auditions. Desean & his faculty build an environment of curiosity, freedom, and exploration all within a safe container. You'll always catch Desean asking the class for feedback after a scene. It feels like it's important to him to expand not just our critical thinking skills as an ensemble but to pay attention to every ounce of behavior. Desean's perception skills are on another level. He picked up on every actor trick I had on my first day of class. It'll feel vulnerable at first, to be seen so deeply but that's the work. Class culture is both individualized & ensemble oriented. He doesn't play favorites and every adjustment/redirect/prompt/exercise is specifically tailored to the individual actor. I LOVE LAS. read more

I joined The Last Acting Studio in 2022 and I couldn't say enough about the impact this studio has had on my growth as an artist, my confidence in acting and my career. All the teachers are highly skilled and the studio culture is inclusive and supportive - we are a community. Besides the amazing scene study and on-camera classes the studio is always offering ways to help in career building with specialty workshops and agent / manager nights. Hats off to Desean and the whole team, we appreciate you!! read more

Something I love about this place is that the coaches are committed to making the acting process feel more fun and exploration/discovery based. Desean is a very nurturing and respectful coach, and the level of individual instruction you will receive is pretty amazing. Desean gets to know you, and finds ways to challenge you personally, in a way that feels collaborative and fun, while taking you to the next level in your work. You will definitely learn and grow in this class. It includes scene study analysis but goes beyond it into a more physical embodiment/experiential approach which is just one of the many things that make this class stand out among others. The people here are very friendly and committed to doing good work. This space is a welcoming community. The new building is also really nice. There's also always great opportunities for students going on from agent nights, to table reads of plays written by people in the community, to full on productions of plays. I'm very very thankful to have found LAS! read more

I started studying here a few months ago after it was recommended to me a few times, and thank God I heeded the advice of my actor friends because the experience has been nothing short of transformative. Desean and the rest of the teachers (shoutout Meera!) are simply amazing. Each brings a unique perspective, and there's nothing dogmatic or contrived about the studio's philosophy, which can be the case at so many other schools. There's also a really strong sense of community here and a plethora of valuable opportunities offered in addition to weekly classes, like agent and manager showcases, career circles, and workshops with industry professionals, from actors to casting directors. It's clear that Desean and the LAS team are committed not only to helping you grow your craft, but also to advancing your career. This is the place to study in LA, period. read more

I have had nothing but a joyous, expansive, and fruitful time in class(es) at the studio. My acting practice has become both grounded and expanded. The coaches, the community, the space... I can't recommend LAS enough. Desean has fostered something truly special here. There are always new ways to stretch yourself and your craft, and the LAS faculty never runs dry of techniques to try. Desean also regularly brings in other industry professionals who truly want to meet and help actors. If you're thinking about auditing LAS, just do it (: read more

Desean is an amazing coach and really helps me to building amazing layers in my auditions. He coached me on two auditions this past week I received from my new reps and I got callbacks for both! Both network auditions! Thank you so much Desean and The Last Acting Studio! read more

I've been in the studio getting close to 2 years. I must say, it's been very beneficial in helping to fine tune my inner confidence and voice. Desean has an uncanny ability to focus in on the individual actor and help bring out there specific authentic self in all the characters, genres, plays and screenplays the actor will explore throughout there time in the studio. The dichotomy of getting out of your own way to discover yourself is what he does better than anyone else! read more

I've been going here since October 2025, and I've been really impressed by both the teachers and community at this studio. All of the teachers and students I've met have been supportive and have great knowledge of/dedication to the craft. There are also opportunities for professional development that have actually led to people finding managers and agents, people creating and displaying their work at the studio... there's lots of awesome stuff going on. read more

I've only been with LAS for about two months and from the moment I walked into the doors I knew that this is where I belonged. The community, the teachers, the environment harness an energy that nurture and empower artistry. In just a short amount of time, I see how I am being shaped and expanded as an actor. Before joining, I'd heard nothing but high praises about LAS and Desean through several friends and mutuals and I understand why. My acting practice has become more specific, explorative and compelling and that's all due to Desean and the LAS community that has guided me back to the love for the craft of acting. I am so excited to continue growing here! read more

Desean has fundamentally changed how I act. I've tried many acting studios, and LAS has helped me grow the most. Can't recommend enough!

There are a lot of acting schools and coaches in LA but if you are serious about growing and getting better, this school really is The Last Acting Studio for you. The artists here celebrate and explore acting through traditional and new, grounded techniques with the goal to grow the ARTIST, develop their unique, individual voice and to help them navigate this mercurial industry with consistency, practice, love of the art and community. All the teachers here are wonderful, I have studied with Desean Terry at other studios prior to his founding The Last Acting Studio, and I will follow him anywhere. At this studio, they help the actor discover and mine one's own humanity through the exploration of story. Desean is an empathetic, profound, laser focused, poetic teacher. Working with him has not just made me a better artist, but it has deepened my humanity, empathy, and sense of purpose overall. read more

The Last Acting Studio is by far the best scene study I have taken in my 15 years in LA. Desean is such a good teacher, and beyond that, he gives such individual attention to every single person in class. He genuinely cares about his students, and wants us all to succeed and build our careers. Desean has also created an incredible network of instructors and coaches that teach and give private coaching sessions (I have worked with Aric, Patrick, Marisilda, and Josette, all of them terrific), and all the students in class are so supportive of each other. I've been in class for just over six months, and I have grown so much as an actor already. I love this studio and cannot recommend it enough to anyone looking for a scene study in LA. read more

By far my favorite ongoing acting class I've taken in LA. Behzad has been an awesome instructor, and Desean, Patrick and Jo have all created such an inviting community of actors. Highly recommend! read more

It's hard for me to overstate how incredible my time at this studio has been. Desean easily ranks as one of the best teachers I have had the chance to train with--his curiosity about each of his students and their respective processes is unmatched, as is his ability to quickly diagnose what is keeping an actor from performing their best work. It's rare to see a teacher that can so easily feed students a piece of guidance that unlocks them to act spontaneously and authentically; it really is amazing to watch. Perhaps just as important is how modest Desean is; many acting teachers can't help but make class about themselves, but Desean never hogs the spotlight. He places his attention squarely on the actors and their needs and works hard to add to their toolkits. Many acting teachers like to say that they aren't "directors," that they won't "direct" scenes--I have found that this is rarely the case. But with Desean, you can believe it. He is always meeting actors exactly where they are, and he is hyper-focused on getting actors to work from their imaginations. There is never a "right" way to do a scene, and that is an incredibly freeing space to work from. The results are staggering. Take this class. You won't regret it. read more

I've only been studying with LAS for the last few months and I'm already seeing a difference in my work. Also, I have coached with Patrick and my auditions feel more connected and I'm having so much more fun! Couldn't recommend Desean and this studio more to actor friends, this studio doesn't have any ego, just a great place to hone and enjoy your craft. read more

Desean Terry is one of the best acting teachers in Los Angeles.

I cannot recommend the Last Acting Studio enough. This is such a safe, fun, uplifting environment to grow as an actor. Every week I come here and play and the work feels important and exciting. In an industry where its very easy to feel jaded, this studio fostered my love for the creative process all over again. You will not regret taking class here. read more

The Last Acting Studio (LAS)...If you are just beginning your acting career or are a seasoned veteran...the LAS Is where you want to be. Desean Terry and his entire staff are professional and courteous. They do an outstanding job communicating with the actor and helping you in many ways that are unsurpassed in the industry. Desean is masterful in his teachings of the art of acting. His critiques are inspirational and leave you with a feeling of wanting to get better and better every week! To sum it up, I would audit his class. I audited several classes before I found Desean! You will not find a more honest or sincere person. Desean is absolutely one of thee best coaches you will ever find. He is: knowledgeable of different approaches to acting, extremely talented as a teacher, and committed to each and every student. He also does not apply any blanket method, but rather will help you find what works for you as an individual. Also, he's a Julliard graduate and a series regular on the Morning Show. read more

Desean has a gift for teaching. As a relative beginner, I was slightly nervous to participate in a class of seasoned professionals but right away, Desean and the Last Acting Studio made me feel comfortable, supported, and welcomed. I have learned SO MUCH in this class (both about being an artist and the craft of acting and performance) - through both my own assignments and exercises - and through observing Desean work with other students -- in just a mere matter of weeks. Truly Astonishing. I feel as if I have found a hidden gemstone in Los Angeles. This class is a highlight of my week and I always feel creatively rejuvenated after class. read more

This review may seem like hyperbole. But I mean every word. Desean Terry changed my life. I stumbled into Desean's class at 19 years old. A child actor with a lot of bad habits and a whole lot of questions. I was falling out of love with the work when I entered his class as I was disillusioned with the industry and a little lost as a man. The way I had gotten work growing up was no longer serving me or exciting me. But it was with Desean that I was introduced to story telling and the value of my unique artistry in a way I never have been anywhere else. Desean takes interests in you as an artist and a human being. He cares. It's not for show. He truly cares. He has an insight into the human experience and the artist that only can be described as what it is, a gift. His level of knowledge, wisdom and empathy is rare. No matter what is blocking you from becoming the artist you know you can be...he will find it and together you will remove it. I clearly can't recommend TLAS enough. Not just because of how you will grow as an actor. But because of who you will become as a human. read more

God really answers prayers out here, OKAY! LAS is your new home for acting. I am telling you, I am so blessed to have been shown this amazing place of learning. I Started as a Musical Theatre major in college, and ended up switching to acting after graduating. Since I still felt lacking in that area over music, I have been through a few different acting studios to try and master it. LAS is the one place where I feel at ease. I do not feel like every single moment I perform has to be perfect. I do not feel like my choices for my scene are "wrong" while my teachers are "right." I do not feel like I have to be better than anyone else in the room. I feel brilliant every time I step into our class. I know that I really am there to throw stuff at the wall and to see what sticks. To find my process even on days where I feel wonky. I know that anything my teacher gives me is a suggestion/option/new possible direction vs being the correct or best way to do my scene even if it doesn't sit right with me. Desean Terry is such a caring soul. He allows all of us to bring our true selves to our scenes as well as adapts his style of teaching to what each student needs in that moment instead of a one size fits all. Even during lab, having Sean and Josette! They all give so much amazing advice while applying the readings immediately to what we are doing in real time. I could truly go on and on, and i've only been here for one month. Know that you do not need to stay anywhere you feel pressure (in a negative way) just because it is the " tough love norm" for how you "should" be training as an actor. Know that YOU ARE AN ACTOR and you already have everything you need inside of yourself to flourish. Know that you can come to a studio like LAS where you feel happy, playful, nurtured, cared for, intelligent, strong and free and learn JUST AS MUCH IF NOT MORE about yourself and your craft than a studio that makes you feel like crud as if you must be broken down so they can build you back up. You are already amazing; period....Did I mention Desean went to Juilliard and currently acts opposite Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon on "The Morning Show?" I meeeaaannn, the plug, the goat, the DKT. read more

There are so many ways to train as an actor! TLAS's approach is using relevant, established scenes to help you dig within yourself and understand the many ways and techniques you can adopt to develop a character, and yourself as an actor. Desean Terry's teaching philosophy, a derivative of his training at The Juilliard School, is simply brilliant. The emphasis is on you, the actor, not the scene. The exercises help you visualize, feel, and connect with fellow actors and characters involved. And they're fun too! All in a safe, welcoming environment. I have been with TLAS for a few months now and I definitely cannot recommend TLAS enough. You will grow as an actor. read more

Guiding his students with a sensitive hand and a watchful eye, Desean Terry's scene study may be the most underrated in LA. I've never felt more free to explore. This feeling is in large part due to Desean's encouragement to release myself of the need to be perfect - it's all about putting the process first and I love that. Excited to be a part of this growing community. read more

Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about The Last Acting Studio. The whole team is terrific, and Desean is not only incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, but he is patient. He works with each actor individually. There is no directing, no formula, or gimmicks. Instead, he helps you develop as an actor by working to open up your instrument. The goal is beyond the surface level to get you operating from the desired "creative state." So if you genuinely want to become a richer, more vital, and engaging actor, look no further. I guarantee you will walk away with plenty of new tools and valuable training. read more

I've attended 3 or 4 acting studios in L.A. and have been studying with Desean for a little over 2 years now. I've been with TLAS since opening and can't think of a better place to be. Desean has all the academic background in acting and directing you could ever hope for in a teacher, but delivered in a completely accessible, non-dogmatic way for those of us who didn't get that sort of education. He has impressive stage and screen credits and completely understands the real world conditions under which these skills will be performed. The students are treated as colleagues and come from a wide spectrum of backgrounds, training, and cultures. Come hang out with us. You'll feel right at home. read more

Desean Terry's class at The Last Acting Studio is hands down one of the best acting classes in Los Angeles. His approach is entirely different from any other acting studio that I've experienced in LA and my skills have grown infinitely since joining a mere couple of months ago. First and foremost, Desean cares about his students and wants to see them book and become proficient in their craft. Stemmed from this passion, Desean gets to know who his students are and then works to lead you to your specific creative flow state to make a scene spark. Class becomes a place where you can test and develop your craft fully in a warm and constructive environment. I'm so excited to see how this studio develops because I know it will be one of the leading acting programs in Los Angeles in the near future. If you are looking for an acting class where you can learn, test, and develop your skills as an actor to unlock organic magic in a scene, this is the class for you. read more

So thankful to have found this studio and its founder Desean Terry. The Last Acting Studio's philosophy to take a holistic approach to the work is what drew me to joining. This philosophy has been a wonderful breath of fresh air in comparison to previous experiences I have had with other studios who've claimed 'their way, was the only way to successful acting' - something that never resonated with me. Desean invites a multi faceted approach to the work and provides opportunities beyond scene study - such as workshops, agent nights, on-camera, and hosted conversations around the work. My experience in class has been one of inclusivity and mutual respect between Desean's teachings and the student's own creativity and input. Desean's experience not only as a teacher, but also a successful actor and director makes for an experience in class that is conversational and accepting of different experiences and perspectives (not that of a lecture). For any artist looking to explore various acting pedagogies and engage with other collaborators, in a supportive and safe environment, I strongly recommend the Last Acting Studio! read more
