The generic chain hotels didn't appeal to me, so I looked to Airbnb for something better. Enter Walker House. From the beginning, my communication with the owner Mike was prompt, courteous, and professional. When I arrived, he was there to greet me, and my private room was cozy, clean, and included some refreshments -- a welcome creature comfort after the 10 hour drive! I shared a bathroom, but it was clean, spacious, and had more than enough clean white towels for myself and the other guests utilizing it. Not to be outdone, Sue made a delicious breakfast in the morning. I enjoyed fresh fruit salad, eggs Benedict, and homemade blueberry muffins. I was super stuffed by the end, but didn't mind a bit! The cherry on top was when I had to leave early to drive home (to the tune of 5 AM). Mike woke up and made me a to-go cup of coffee for the road. I told all the wedding guests about my awesome accommodations and got more than a few envious comments :-) If you're in the area and need a place to stay, look no further than Walker House!

Prepare to wake when the sun comes up as the window shades do not begin to block the rising sun, at least in the bedrooms in the inn. The breakfast was delicious, though heavy on carbs. I hope they consider offering some sort of egg with all breakfasts. Pancakes and French toast are good for breakfast but a side of a protein (other than sausage) should be part of all breakfasts. They have water out all day but it is always room temperature, not very refreshing on a hot day.

To give you an idea of how wonderful our stay was, I have not written a Yelp review in almost two…read moreyears, but felt so compelled to share and spread the word about this place that I came back just to write about how amazing our stay was. My two friends and I wanted to take a little mini getaway to get some snowboarding at Granite Peak (4 hours from Chicago) and spent quite a bit of time looking at hotels around the area. I stumbled upon this bed and breakfast, and can confidently say it is one of the best hidden gems that I'm glad I found. First off, it is only 15 minutes to Granite Peak and the price is comparable a lot of the hotels in the area. We stayed in the River Suite, which was the whole upstairs and had a bedroom with a balcony and an adjoining sitting room that had a queen Murphy bed and it's own mini fridge. I'm pretty sure there's a fireplace in each room. The whole space is amazing as it sits along the river and the large windows, both in the suite and the living area, offer great views. With a little snowfall it really had that cozy winter feel. The place is only a few years old so everything was very modern. The downstairs common area had a full kitchen, a pool table, large tv (with Roku), and comfy couches/blankets to hang. There's a sauna that we took advantage of after a long day boarding. Both nights we were there we made dinner and hung out in the common area watching football, playing pool, kicked back some drinks, and cuddled with their dog. Full disclosure, we were the only rentals for those two nights and the two other rooms (Willow and Birch) are also downstairs, so I'm sure it would've been a different experience and we would not have been as comfortable or been able to hangout as freely down there if other occupants were also there. The best part of our two night stay had to be the hospitality of Dan and Margaret. Easy to communicate, accommodating, and super friendly. Margaret is quite the baker, we could not stop eating her ginger snap cookies. The first night we were there Dan brought down some of his fig infused vodka for us to enjoy. They didn't have to (as their website says three course breakfast on weekends and complementary continental breakfast during the week days), but they offered and made us breakfast both mornings. Happy they sat down and ate with us that second day. If you haven't gotten the point, this is the perfect little getaway and a must stay if you're going to make it out in the area. I worked in…read moreManawa for 3 months and can honestly say that staying with Judy was hands-down better than any hotel/airbnb/b&b/etc I've I've ever stayed at. The rooms and bathrooms are large, VERY clean, and there is a fridge/microwave/coffee bar upstairs which guests can use at any time. The hostess, Judy, is a culinary marvel. Not only did Judy make AMAZING breakfasts every morning, but she remembered what I liked and disliked and made new dishes each morning based on my personal preferences. Besides the incredible food (which is reason enough to stay here, believe me - there were frequently homemade sweets available in the dining area perfect for an after-dinner snack), Judy is the most accommodating hostess you will ever encounter. She let me leave my bike at her house when I would travel home on the weekends, she would make to-go breakfast bundles when I had to go in for work early, AND she would even get up early to heat up the breakfast before I left (which would sometimes be as early as 3am). An added bonus is her adorable cat, Bob. Needless to say, The Lindsay House is more than a quaint stop on one's journey. It's a destination in and of itself.

You then float your way down the beautiful staircase to a breakfast I can only say must be experienced. In front of you is a beautiful lake, and a lovely round table is heaped with fresh fruit parfaits combined with yogurt, warm coffee cake and platters of perfectly-cut melons and berries. You sit and have your first cup of coffee, tea or juice and chat with delightful people from all over and your morning begins in a comfortable and unhurried way with the most wonderful innkeepers, Kathy and Dave, quietly attending to your needs. Make your way over to another lovely antique piece serving hot entrees, like cream-cheese stuffed French Toast, with warm regional Door-County cherries for a topping or cheese blintzes with orange sauce. Next, are egg dishes that vary from day-to-day, and finally, there is that apple-cured bacon. This grand home offers only five or six beautiful rooms, so one is not overwhelmed with people making it a really pleasant stay. We stayed in the largest of the waterfront rooms, the Raphael, which has a king-size bed and lake view. Every room has fresh-cut flowers. Upon arriving late Friday, at around sunset, we were delighted to see wine and some delicious Wisconsin cheese and crackers waiting for us. This is offered each evening to guests. We have returned to the Angel Inn year after year and will continue to as it's an idyllic place to get away and relax in a beautiful setting, while feeling at home in a home-away-from-home, with the warmth and care of Kathy and Dave. We ALWAYS feel welcome! I don't think I can say that about any other place I've stayed. They are genuinely happy to see you return and it is most sincere. There is a boat dock in front of the B& B, so our friend's boat had easy access to pick us up for a ride. Norton's Restaurant is located right next door for cocktails and meals and there were no sound issues at all. I highly recommend the Angel Inn Bed & Breakfast in Green Lake, WI. My husband, who has back…read moreproblems and a CPAP machine, slept like a rock and got the best night's sleep he has had for a long time. He felt so go the next day we even went antiquing! (There are so many little towns around there to go antiquing in and an Amish trail, too!) Saturday morning this is a typical stop for locals having pie (four types) and ice cream. We had a wonderful talk with a young couple and their little 15 month old with beautiful blue eyes and big smile. Such a beautiful to stay and great food. We will be back!

We had cheese broccoli soup, slaw salad and a chicken sandwich. Everything was very good. The soup was low salt, most soup have way too much salt. The slaw salad had cabbage, kale and Brussels sprouts with a light dressing. Chocolate cake was included but we were so full that we refused. With coffee the meal was six dollars.
