This arrived cold, 40 minutes after ordering which I thought was pretty disappointing. The food itself wasn't anything special, the sausage pattie was horrid & the egg was undercooked. The only things that weren't too bad was the toast, beans & hash browns. The place itself was lovely though & the staff were great. They had a little section filled with games, colouring books and crayons for children which I thought was a lovely touch. I don't want to be to harsh on the place because I'm convinced they were just having an off day. I think we will go back again, but next time try something different.

The other dish was a New York steak ciabatta (with amazing chips). We ordered wine and washed the tasty meal down before following it up with sticky toffee pudding and a decidedly evil peanut butter cheesecake (which comes in a glass). We like it here. It's grand and light, and the food is good and reasonably priced. What would we change? We would upgrade the condiments, so that the ketchup is better, and that authentic maple syrup is used on our pancakes rather than golden syrup, which is thick and doesn't taste of much. We would also have preferred our meals a bit hotter, as we felt like we had to wolf it down before it got cold. But these are small niggles that can be easily fixed, and probably will be at some point if the professionalism of the staff is anything to go by. They're friendly, not over-familiar, not too pushy, and they seem to want to go out of their way to make sure you enjoy Cosy Club. The wine list is short, but will hopefully improve in time. As of writing, it's only been open a couple of weeks. I look forward to being able to buy Champagne by the glass!

But I had nothing to fear - with two vegetarian options on the lunch time menu, at least I had something to choose from (Albeit a standard veggie burger or a goats cheese tart - two 'classics') and since this was a restaurant for meat eaters I could hardly complain! My burger was delicious, served with tasty chunky chips and washed down with hearty cider. My friend's roast dinners looked fabulous too. The service was very welcoming and the atmosphere was just what you want on a Sunday - full of fun and laughter.

The focus here is all about good old-fashioned British dishes, particularly steak and it's many guises. My partner ordered a steak cooked on a hot stone tablet right in front of him - similar to the way you can get hot plates in Indian restaurants, except this actually allowed him to partially cook the steak himself. As an occasional vegetarian there wasn't a great amount of choice for me to pick a main course but the starters and desserts were divine! It is quite pricey but I would come back for the chocolate mouse alone and my partner can whole-heartedly vote for the sirloin steak!

Our plates barely had any gravy on, but a small gravy boat was brought on request as were the horseradish and mint sauce.

It may not be the most exciting pub but you're guaranteed to get friendly service, huge comfy arm chairs and a good variety of drinks. It's a bit on the pricey side, and I wouldn't go out of my way to drink here, but if you work in Filton it's the best place for a cheeky mid-day pint.

(Local legend has it that Sea Mills was founded by Quakers which means that pubs are not allowed in the vicinity.) Other than this, there isn't a great deal to recommend it. It's a one room establishment, albeit on a split level, with an unremarkable interior, seating out the front and a local clientele strangely split between those from well to do Stoke Bishop and the notably less salubrious Sea Mills. There's a pic of David Jason on the wall enjoying a pint at the bar during a break from filming (Boycey's garrish mock mansion is around the corner), but despite this when I lived in the area I still preferred to make the mile or so walk to the better pubs in Westbury-on-Trym.

This is probably because this isn't much of a drinker's place, more an eatery with cheap pub grub options and a slightly lagging atmosphere to match. It also has a garden and an a large car park, making it the sort of sensible place you'd meet your parents for some food. (Note: not to be confused with the White Horse which is just down the road.)
