Her website is very detailed so you really know what you are getting when you go to rent. It is user friendly to see what is open and what is booked. We recently have stayed at the same property the last 3 years. Once we had a issue with the washer and she immediately sent someone over all to find out we were the first of the summer season and the water needed to be turned on. The places are clean. However this is CAMP not a condo, not town house these are adirondack camps so they may not be completely spotless. I have been in the Adirondacks for vacation for over 20 years and have stayed in many places her site has many camps available. I have referred Julie over the years as well.

The owners are really nice and they keep the cottages really clean. The big plus about these places is they are more up to date than all the "House Keeping" cottages that dot the area. I can't speak for all the cabins, but ours was updated and had the loveliest amenities, and it was spacious! All of the windows open and there is a screen door so you can let in the fresh air, but there is also an AC/heater so you will be comfortable. A full fridge, gas range, microwave, toaster, and coffee pot in the kitchen with every dish, utensil, or piece of cookware you could need. The toilet and shower are in the bathroom and just outside there's a little alcove with a huge countertop and sink and very large mirror. There's a large kitchen table with four chairs, two armchairs facing the television, and a roomy closet. It really is like a small apartment. (Actually, I had a small apartment and it didn't have nearly as much storage space.) Tons of drawers in the bathroom and bedroom area as well. Bed was a little uncomfortable, but everything was better than I expected so I wasn't upset about it. The proprietor is so nice!! Very helpful, full of recommendations. And the location is just in the center of town so it's close to any shopping or restaurants, and just a short drive or bike ride even from the water park, and only 15 min drive from Adirondack Woodcraft Camps (which is where my friends wedding was). You have to keep in mind this is similar to an Air BnB in that there's no housekeeping during your stay and you are responsible for tidying up after yourselves before you leave, washing your dishes, taking out your trash, etc. which wasn't so bad because hello, I'm not a pig. If you are, probably you shouldn't stay here anyway. But, highly recommend! I even mentioned to my boyfriend that I'd really like to stay again next summer and make a longer vacation out of it!

To begin, I have never been treated so disrespectfully or unfairly by a host or anyone in the…read morehospitality business in my entire life. We booked The Lodge on Main a year in advance for a much anticipated family reunion. To quote the website ad directly, "We designed The Lodge on Main to comfortably accommodate large groups of friends and families. With a huge open floor plan that combines the kitchen, great room and dining room, you'll never feel cramped." Under amenities in the website description in the ad reads "Large Group Rental (10+)" Summer rates listed for the property read, "Summer Rates: Thursday - Sunday nights $400" Although, we were in fact charged $500/night - as explained by the owner the rate was $50 per person per night due to "wear and tear on the plumbing" and we had only "estimated" 10 people per night - due to the fact that two of our guests are active military and could not be guaranteed leave that far in advance. Had we known the reservation was absolutely inflexible and set in stone we would have estimated 12 guests to error on the side of caution. In reality, only five guests stayed the first night which when charged using the per person formula should have been $250 when in fact we were charged $500. The remainder of our party (7 people) arrived Saturday morning in 3 separate vehicles. We were not there 30 minutes when the owner approached us and inquired as to how many people were on the rental property as there were too many vehicles in the lot. (6 total) There was no mention of parking on the rental agreement or website nor were there signs guiding us where to park. We were also accused of driving across the lawn when in fact a customer from the liquor store was seen doing this. When I replied 12 people were on the property (10 estimated + 2 military) the owner immediately accused us of violating the agreement which only allowed 10 individuals on the property at once. He explained the property boundaries included the inside of the lodge as well as the outside backyard area which was generously equipped with 2 full sized picnic tables (16 seats) one raised ledge table with space for approximately four people and a fire pit area with exactly 11 Adirondack chairs arranged in a circle. When I questioned the owner as to why there were 11 chairs outside when no more than 10 were allowed on the premises, he snapped and stated that he was calling the police to have us evicted immediately. We were not informed prior to our arrival that there were strictly enforced rules stating NO guests beyond the original estimated 10 people were allowed to step foot on the property for ANY reason at ANY time. Had we known of this inflexibility we definitely would NOT have reserved this property for a vacation, family reunion or any other recreational purpose. The owner refused to explain HOW we were violating the contract when the website clearly stated, "sleeps 12" and there were exactly 12 people in attendance. One gentleman from our group asked (direct quote) "What can we do to make this work? Can you explain where it is acceptable to park, how many cars are allowed and the acceptable maximum occupancy inside and out?" The owner outright refused to answer the question and called law enforcement to have us evicted immediately. We were falsely lead to believe as stated on the website that this spacious rental property was appropriate for large gatherings that accommodated 12 guests. My adult family which included retired seniors, middle-aged first responders and active military whom were all civil and respectful were unjustly evicted without provocation or recourse. 12 people, thousands of dollars, one year of planning and a weekends worth of food and linens displaced in Old Forge on a Saturday afternoon with nowhere to go. It is also worth mentioning that this owner has live cameras mounted on the property where he monitors and records his guests activities from inside the adjoining liquor store (George's Liquor's) which he also owns. THIS is how Steven Perlowitz treats his guests. Do NOT spend your hard earned money at the Lodge on Main where guests are obviously NOT WELCOMED. The owner has no right to refer to himself as a host on his website or any other forum as he was the most unreasonable inhospitable business owner I have ever dealt with in my entire life. We will not be returning to Old Forge as our family reunion and weekend was completely devastated by the unjust actions of one inflexible and obstinate rental host.

While I'm sure this place has a lot of great rooms, we definitely were in probably the worst one. Every room has access to a view of the park or the lake- our room happen to be the only one on the side so our view was the parking lot. We parked close to our room so we could hand bags over the balcony (since we have a baby we have to travel with a lot of stuff). We unfortunately got completely blocked in by a bus (who hit the facility right by our room over 3 times & i had to call the front desk while it was happening because it was RIGHT next to our room & SO SCARY!!) i asked the bus driver repeatedly- over 4 times to move his bus because we could not leave to go to dinner as we were blocked in!! he was so beyond rude & refused to move. He was picking up a bunch of guests and they all just stood around outside of the bus talking for like 30-40 mins. The hotel should NOT have allowed this guy to park there & block so many hotel guests in. Our poor kid who traveled all day was so hungry & we couldn't even go get her dinner because this jerk wouldn't move his party bus that he crashed into the outside of our room. The whole porch (& the inside of the Inn) was FILLED with huge ass spiders, the mini fridge was about big enough for 2 cans of soda & our table was like broken & wobbly/ unsafe for a baby to sit at for sure- the room they had available was 2 queen beds & it was set up like a weird long hallway with beds in the middle- VERY poorly laid out- there was no place the pack & play fit with out being in the way or directly in front of the A/C (ewww) & the a/c unit was FILTHY. My husband liked the continental breakfast so we didn't have to go elsewhere to feed the baby in the morning but honestly would it kill you to have some eggs? Lots of sugar & carbs available tho. Over all it was in a good location but next time we will probably skip the stay & drive the hour back to civilization because the Inn was INNcredibly expensive for what it ended up being. I assume most people don't spend much time at the hotel & unfortunately we just happened to have probably the worst room & a baby who naps for a few hours in the day so we were there a lot.

The beds and futons used as couches were too uncomfortable to get a good nights sleep. The pluming was absolutely awful!! I didn't expect great water pressure but after using the water for about ten or fifteen minutes there was no water at all. The toilet constantly ran and over flowed after every flush. After a couple of days we started filling a bucket of water and flushing it that way. We tried to get ahold of someone to fix the problem but could not. DO NOT STAY IN THIS CABIN!!

We decided to give them a call and spoke with Britt right away. He immediately was on board with us and from that moment on we were rocking. It didn't take long to find the home we wanted but there were many hurdles to jump through. Britt was with us the whole way through and truly went over and above to have our needs met. We do believe we would not have had the same experience going elsewhere. We would highly recommend Britt Abbey for anyone's real estate needs.
