I went into Strut Your Stuff only to find a super cool store with lots of amazing options. The owner, Barb, carries a lot of really nice jeans. I will have to leave a little more room in my suitcase the next time I visit this awesome little town! I stopped myself from buying piles of jewelry. This store carries everything from gorgeous turquoise to long, tassled necklaces. Everything is really gorgeous!! Barb offered us a cool drink when we went in. I was so grateful because it was a very warm day. You never felt rushed or pushed. I'll be back!!

There are three separate shopping areas in this large 1890's renovated storefront. I felt like this store was a bit out of place in a downtown area that does not receive a lot of traffic but I wish them well. I liked the building, it had that rustic feel that made it perfect for a store that seemed to specialize in rustic/rustic chic? That's probably not a real thing but I'm going with it. I totally appreciated that they were part of the downtown area of Hico. So many of the towns I visit for work have boarded up downtown areas that aren't being utilized and I love that Hico seems to be trying to keep this area alive. I hope this store does well and would definitely recommend that anyone in the area check it out for some fun gifts or furnishings!

I took my engagement ring into The Golden Butterfly to have it resized as it was just a little small for my fiancé. During inspection the jeweler told me she could not resize the ring due to it not having a karat stamp that all gold needed by law. I was unaware of this but knew that it was genuine gold so I presented the form the ring maker gave me to show it was 14k gold. She still refused and told me "I might want to consider getting my money back" which I still consider to be a very rude comment. After leaving feeling crushed I contacted the ring maker and they were very professional and sent me pictures of how a ring stamp should look and guaranteed me that my ring had did in fact have a karat stamp. I immediately saw how large these stamps are and took out the ring to find out for myself. Low and behold I found the karat stamp immediately. The woman at The Golden Butterfly had magnified lenses during the inspection of the ring and yet she couldn't find the stamp that I found immediately. Furthermore implying that I had purchased a fake ring is just the icing on the cake. I am very displeased with the service I was provided and will not return to The Golden Butterfly.
