On Monday October 6th after I picked my one year old up from daycare, I noticed bruising on both…read moresides of his legs and hips. I was not given any type of incident report so I brought it to the directors attention. I sent pictures to the director and she called me after receiving the pictures. She stated she was unaware of the marking, she didn't know how they could have happened and would follow up with a report from her staff the next day. Later the next day, October 7th, Janelle contacted me stating that all her staff were unaware of how my child got the bruises and really didn't seem to have much accountability on what could have led to the bruises. Thursday October 9th, I picked my toddler up from daycare and he only had on a tee shirt and pants when he was sent with a hat and jacket. At the time the children were outside, it was a cool, fall day and the teacher Maddie had on a hoodie or jacket but she let my baby play in chilly weather with no coverings such as a jacket or hat. I have stated that I like for my child to have 2 shirts on at all times and to please keep a jacket on him. The children's noses were snotty and they had not been wiped off and cleaned up very well. The next day my baby fell ill with a high fever and I believe it was due to being outside in chilly fall weather with no jacket on also amongst children who were sort of ill themselves and probably shouldn't have been at school in the first place. The following week on October 16, I received an email from Janelle stating my child had tripped over a doll and had a "small" cut under his eye. I responded to the message with thanks for the notification. When I picked my child up from school, my heart broke. Very, very, visibly my child had a gash above his eyebrow and below his eye followed by swelling and an abrasion. I confronted Janelle about the miscommunication because this was far from a small cut. At first she didn't even want to get up from her desk and speak to me. She still carried on with whatever she was doing on the computer while trying to explain to me what happened. During this process I was given 3 different stories. The first story was from a teacher in the classroom who stated my child fell into a coat rack, Janelle, the director said he tripped over a doll and hit his face, but she really doesn't know what happened because she wasn't in the room, one teacher said he fell and hit the corner of a mirror, but the incident report yet again involving Maddie stated he tripped over a doll and fell in the kitchen play area coat rack. Here's the thing: the coat racks are underneath the cubbies as soon as you walk in the classroom, in front of the cubbies and coat rack sits their little tables and chair and diagonal from the table set sits some stationary toy with a mirror on it. The kitchen set is across the room by the window. I was upset and misled by the words of the director. I asked for a refund for my week I paid in advance and she told me I could not get one. I would like to get to the bottom of what happened to my toddler and I would like to publicly bring it to the attention of others because this facility does not have cameras and something needs to be done. I am a single mother and I paid my money on time every 2 weeks. I don't have $720 to give out as charity.

Harper School is the best choice my husband and I made for our kids' preschool education!! Our…read moredaughters began when they were 3- and 4 year old respectively and despite English is not their first language, we are impressed how quickly our kids learned their alphabets, counting forward and backward, and holding a pencil! Our 4 year old daughter learned to write her name within 2-3 weeks starting at Harper! Our 3 year old daughter resisted our attempts to teach her how to properly hold a pencil at home but Harper was able to accomplish this! Harper serves a lot of physician and health care professional families working nearby at MoBap and Mercy, so they are less likely to cancel school days (for snow) compared to the local public schools. The heads of school surprisingly know the students very well, they are both very involved in all the classrooms with all the students and teachers, and also have a personal connection with the families, which contributes to an inclusive, warm, welcoming, and nurturing environment. Even though English is not our children's first language, Harper miraculously over came their language barrier to help our daughters feel loved and included and drops off became happier and less tearful. Harper undoubtedly has a strong and successful academic curriculum but most impressive is their cohesive and nurturing environment because our kids feel safe, loved, and seen. Thank you Harper!!
