The facilities are excellent and Susie Shelton-Dodge is the Headmistress and is wonderful and very approachable. They do have before and after school care which is included in tuition. They participate in numerous field trips. The menu in the cafeteria also has very healthy items. The summer camp is also wonderful with numerous fun activities but my favorite part of summer camp is the swimming lessons. They do have a very nice swimming pool on campus (fenced) and teach swimming every day during the summer. Lessons are dependent on ability and age. There is even parent observation day at the end of the summer. No this place isn't cheap but well worth the money. Overall my favorite aspects: 1) Before and after school care 2) Summer camp swimming lessons 3) Small class sizes 4) Safe, diverse and comfortable environment

Our experience started ok. Our son did pretty well but eventually started sharing how some kids…read morepicked on him. These kids tended to be from affluent families and made fun of his clothes or shoes. There became more concerning issues when one child was being threatening towards the children in the class. When we expressed concern the teacher became defensive of the other child and it became very uncomfortable after we had built what I thought was a good report. I found out later that the teacher was close with the other family and even went on a ski trip with them. The director also showed little concern for these more serious issues. I also had to address the fact that my daughters class never washed with soap and water but used hand sanitizer instead. Both of my kids would express that the wrong kids were often disciplined and others got away with whatever they wanted. Every day I asked them how school was and they had nothing good to report sadly. It was hugely disappointing for the amount of money spent there.

Ms. Yan is such a nurturing person. I still remember one day when I went to pick her up and opened the door; Ms. Yan was playing with dolls with her. Even though my daughter was the last one to stay there, she was still having fun. As she got older and moved to different classrooms, Kita, Lauren, and all the other teachers were so kind. The various themed activities were enriching, and they would also suggest activities to do at home, which was very helpful for us. Additionally, the management team, Shuai and Michele, were incredibly supportive. They communicated with us frequently and in advance. Their dedication and passion were evident. They genuinely cared about our child's health and development, which was reassuring for parents like us. I believe this is a perfect place if you are looking for full-time childcare with a well-organized system. If you are seeking a part-time spot, this may not be the best choice, as they only offer full-time options. I actually think this is beneficial because it ensures consistency. They also have an app system that provides almost real-time updates about your child, which we appreciated greatly. We had to leave because we were moving out of state, but until the last day, my daughter enjoyed her time there. We are truly grateful for the wonderful experience our daughter had and highly recommend this center to other families seeking a nurturing and reliable childcare environment.

SCAM ALERT! This daycare (the Kirkwood location) will lead you on and tell you they will likely…read morehave a spot, coercing you into paying their application fee and "non-reimbursable" first week of tuition ($400). When it comes time for your child to enroll, they will say they either don't have a spot, tell you a have a spot way past when you need it, or tell you there's a spot but it's a week before you need to begin so you've already found back-up care. You will be out over $400. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! THE DETAILS: We virtually toured Strictly Pediatrics in May 2021 and were told it looked "promising" to get into the daycare in March/early April 2022 because there were "not many families on the waitlist." Because we knew we would have to pay a non-refundable $400 to put our name on the waitlist, we asked again in June 2021 for an update. We had to inquire three times to get an update and they finally called us back a month later to let us know we'd "likely" get in during our time frame. So, we paid the application fee ($75) and the first week of tuition ($325) - with the understanding that it was non-refundable, but we were hopeful since we were told we had a very good chance of getting in. When we paid the $400, we were told the next step was to call after our daughter was born and we'd be told where we were on the waitlist. So we did that, and I had to call three times and send two emails in November and December 2021 to get a response from the day care. They told us that they didn't know if our daughter could start in March/April 2022 yet. We don't have family in the area. We had put our names on other daycare waitlists but they were transparent about where we fell on the list - Strictly Pediatrics seemed to be our best hope. When our maternity and paternity leave was ending, we were panicking (naturally). We called and emailed Janice on January 31, February 6, and February 14. At this point, we were two weeks out from when we'd ideally need care and we couldn't get a hold of ANYONE. What kind of daycare doesn't answer their phones!? We did not hear back from Janice until March 4 - after spending the entire month of February trying to get an update - and all of a sudden she claimed she had a spot, but not until April 22. We were obviously very upset. However, we thought since they couldn't get us in at the time we asked for NINE MONTHS prior - especially after leading us on - they might be nice and refund us our first week of tuition back ($325). WRONG! It became cear at this point that this place is trying to just milk parents for money by making false promises and avoiding their calls. We hope to get the media involved with this, but do yourself a favor and AVOID THIS SCAM!

We have little to no interruptions like many of my friends and the communication is amazing. But the most important thing to realize is that DCC is not a daycare it is a community! The teachers do not see their role as a job but love the children and want to see them develop. Parents give of their time because they believe in the DCC and the community it creates. And the children see DCC as a home away from home and thrive. I could not recommend DCC more!

My son attended Westport from infancy through the 3-year-old class. The setup is concerning:…read morebabies, toddlers, then suddenly 3-year-olds placed with 4-5-year-olds in a larger room. That alone shows how little thought goes into the children's development here. This daycare receives funding, yet when I was one of the top two contributors of a fundraiser, the money went to an employee's personal house fire relief instead of the children. You would think a go fund me account would be started instead of using money from a fundraiser. Where's the integrity? Without cameras, parents have no way of knowing what really happens during diapering or bathroom routines, and children can't always explain it. That lack of transparency is unacceptable. Daycare is supposed to support working parents, not make us question our child's safety. Trust is everything in childcare, and this place failed at the most basic level. On top of that, tuition rates were sketchy. I asked multiple times about a rate adjustment after my son was potty trained with moving to the 3 year old bigger class, and got vague answers until his last day--when suddenly the rate dropped by $40. This center has been in business for years, but that doesn't mean it's safe or trustworthy. Longevity without integrity means nothing. I am grateful my child no longer attends Westport. Parents, be vigilant and push for cameras in every classroom, because without them, we'll never truly know what's going on. ------- ------- Updated Review after Business Response: Thank you for your response. I want to clarify a few points for parents who may be considering this daycare. Classroom setup: While ratios may technically follow state guidelines, my concern was with the developmental mix of children. My son's experience showed that compliance and what is best for children's growth are not always the same thing. Fundraiser funds: The center did communicate that fundraiser proceeds would be directed to teachers affected by a house fire. While I sympathize with their loss, I personally felt that using funds raised under the impression of benefiting the children and center was not the most appropriate approach. A separate GoFundMe or designated collection would have offered parents a clearer choice. Safety and transparency: The response did not address my concern about the lack of cameras. In childcare, parents value reassurance and transparency, especially during moments when children cannot fully express themselves. Tuition adjustments: My questions about tuition changes after potty training went unanswered until my son's final day, when suddenly the rate dropped. Clear communication about costs is a basic expectation for parents budgeting for care. Finally, I want to add that I was asked multiple times to leave a review while my son was enrolled, but I chose not to at that time. Reading the tone of the center's reply to my concerns has only confirmed that decision. Rather than addressing my feedback constructively, the response came across as defensive and dismissive. This type of communication does not build trust with parents, it further erodes it. I understand this center has been in business for decades, but longevity alone does not equal trust. My review reflects my personal experience, and I encourage prospective parents to ask detailed questions and tour thoroughly before making a decision.

Every transition to a new classroom is hard, because it means she leaves a great teacher. We always worry that there is no way that the next classroom can be as good as her last, but Ms. Enyale has blown us away. It is the expectation that she is in a safe and friendly environment, but Ms. Enyale has been an extension of our parenting that has developed responsibility, vocabulary, and now even potty training. We are amazed at how much she has learned in a relatively short period of time and it would not be possible without Ms. Enyale and all of the great teachers there.

I have to repost this because somehow my previous review was deleted by somebody…read more I do not post this review lightly or with malice but I feel as a parent I should make sure our experience is represented for others seeking to use this school. Our initial experience with the school was very positive. About 6 months after our start we had both teachers change in our classroom. We didn't think much of it as we were sold on the process and learning paths the school offered were the difference. Our newly 3 year old at this point started receive a lot more "feedback" on things going on at school. These were mostly things around not lining up when coming in from playground, not sitting down when told to during story time and having trouble coming in from outside playtime. Our initial thoughts were that this is something they would work on at school and we would reenforce at home....Then we got requests to come in for "parent teacher conferences" this is something we came in during work hours multiple times to do. We took on our part to try to reenforce lessons from home into school while they gave some activities they would do but we were never provided with any comprehensive plan or any real followup on how they were working in school to help "correct" her. All incidents through these months were all non-violent and only about not following exact instructions around when to lay down or go out. She is only 3 years old. After a few weeks they decided to start sending home a journal of every "incident" forcing the teachers to fill out this daily and checking in on us that we were reading it and bringing it home everyday. At this point they were just calling "leadership" every time she did something they did not like or she was not conforming to the current activity. We had been doing our best at home but these things were mostly happening at school. This came to a head a few months later as we did our best to meet these unrealistic expectations from the leadership of the school for a little human who was only 3 and doing her best to understand their very specific requirements. At this point she started becoming scared and sad to go to school and told us she had been hit by another kid. We brought these concerns to the school and were told that the hitting was "being handled". Once we made this compliant within a few weeks we had been told that suddenly her incidents were escalating and she was crying uncontrollably during activities that had been much easier before, nap, switching activities she wanted to continue and such. This was very out of character for us and we again made very strong complaints about how there had been no followup to the earlier incidents and no plan of action in the class or to her individually to help with this. I guess this was our mistake. After that we were told within a week that they intended to send her home for any incident that they considered disruptive, which they did one day later. So I started going to school 3 times a day to help checkin and make sure she understands what was expected for half a week. The first day I did not go in multiple times (after getting a glowing report from her teacher and positive input about her attitude) I was called and told to pick her up because she had another "incident". This was our last day. I am sure their brand of child education works for some but I put this review out to make sure parents who see these warning signs don't wait as long as we did. Don't have to have a child asking if they are "bad" and start apologizing almost constantly to us. She was put in a new school and after a week of the teachers there helping her get over this she was able to start accepting quiet time and safety rules around the playground with no problems. I want to be clear that we did like our new teachers and think they were doing the best they could. This was a complete failure of what they call their "leadership" team who seem to be more concerned with passing blame to us as the child than leading any efforts to find healthy resolutions to a 3 year old.
